Are these symptoms coronovirus?

I haven't felt well for 24 hours. Nausea, very sore heavy chest and a cough (worse when i was talking this morning but ive shut myself away and have no one to talk to now). Also a horrible headache.

I have young children so have shut myself in my bedroom whilst my husband has the kids. I already miss them.

My chest feels so sore and i am aware of my breathing. I have a mild fever (im on immunosuppresants for Crohn's and they often mask a fever). The thing is i haven't been out socially for 9 weeks and my husband and kids haven't either. Im vulnerable so we have stayed home. We do have dogs so have walked them once a day but we live rurally and see no one. I don't walk anywhere i need to touch a gate or stile.

We get a sainsbury's order once a week. They leave the bags on the doorstep and then i get the bags. I remove outer packaging and isolate the bags for a week or so. I haven't washed the last 2 orders though as i was feeling safe as I am washing my hands all the time. Have I caught it from my sainsbury's delivery?
My 3 year old went to the GP's last Tuesday for his pre school vacs (after alot of pressure from the GP telling me he needed it). My husband had a mask and the nurse was in PPE and there was no one else in the surgery. Husband said it felt very safe.

Its not flu, ive had that a couple of times and doesnt feel like that. At that moment its a sore chest, cough and headache.

Is there anything else going round or does it sound like covid 19?

I called 111 and they said i could get a test so i booked one but its for tomorrow night at 5pm and 81 miles away.

Half of me feels panicked and half feels like i will inevitably get it and might as well get it over with.

I miss my kids so much and its only been a few hours.

I just cant believe I could have caught it when i have been so so careful and my whole family has to.

Yes, it could be COVID. But then again, could be another virus. If it is, don't even bother trying to work out where you got it from, it'll drive you crazy.

Porcupine - have you had it? Did you isolate from your kids?
Husband says son has a mild fever now although he is totally fine in himself. We were warned he might get a mild fever after 7-10 days the vaccs and were on day 5.
If I have got it then i was probably contagious before i isolated so can I just be with them all anyway and we will ride it out together? I don't want to make them sick if they haven't already got it but chances are I caught it from one of them anyway.

On the basis that a decent percentage of covid tests are negative, even allowing for false negatives, there are a lot of people experiencing similar symptoms.

Although if it is covid you do need to keep in mind your chances of being extremely ill are still rare.

I would try and have the test, if I could get there OP.

It could quite possibly be covid.
If you can possibly isolate from the family for 7 days, you should.
The others in the house should now stay home for 14 days.

And yes, do the test because if it's negative you won't need to isolate.

My 7 year old daughter phoned me and is in tears as she wants a hug. She knows I'm high risk and she is scared and I just want to hug her. I've managed to get a test 30 mins away on Tuesday morning. So that's alot better than 81 miles away and I cant imagine the results will come through that much quicker for the sake of late Monday to early tuesday. This is a bit scary. I'm trying to distract myself

It sounds possible, I'd say sounds more likely the doctors than the shopping though, definitely try to get the test

I keep telling myself the majority of people that get tested get a negative result so there must be a lot of people with these symptoms that havent got covid.

The whole house have been so ultra careful. I've been washing shopping, putting parcels out the way for a few days before opening them etc etc. A bit OCD on some peoples account. I must have caught this from somewhere even if it isnt covid. I weighed it up and thought my son having his vaccine after lock down was more of a risk as he would be at nursery and might get covid and vaccine at same time.

And I didnt go to the GPs for the vaccine. My husband took him.

Sounds like you possibly have it.

I know you will probably disagree, but I'd just give your daughter a hug. If she has no underlying health conditions, and nor do the rest of your family, I'd not isolate from them. Mental health is also important. If you have it they have probably already been exposed to it.

In my family my DH and two DC and myself have all had it (positive test). DH had it worst. One DC had no symptoms except grumpy and a bit tired. Other DC had v high temp for couple of days then fine. I had it for a long time but very mildly.

Is the chest pain like a hot pressure band above the bra line out towards the middle of the shoulder blades? Almost like an elephant sitting on your chest? Is it difficult to take a deep breath and hold it?

If so, probably yes.

There’s loads of stuff going round. We’ve all stayed home for longer that the lockdown as all high risk and still all of us have had a chest infection. Do the test as the results are quick- 48hours. Then if you don’t have it you can ring your GP and they can give you decent advice.

I'd be worried if I had your symptoms as I'm immunosuppressed too. I'd also be questioning where it came from as my family have been shielding but we haven't stayed away from each other so I think if you have it then it's likely the rest of your family have either had asymptomatic virus or will get it alongside you. So if it was me I'd give DC a hug.

What jabs did your son have - just wondering if he could be shedding and you've caught something from him? Eg flu?

Thanks everyone. My son had the preschool booster which is MMR and diptheria, tetanus and a couple more things I think.

My son had a low fever for a few hours last night but has been fine in himself. I did hear him cough this morning and it sounded dry like my cough.

My fever has gone but by sterum hurts. My lungs hurt yesterday but not this morning. Its just the bony bit down between my boobs that feels really sore and an occasional cough thats worse when i talk. I did feel i was struggling to breathe a bit yesterday but that might have been me thinking about it too much. I dont feel tired but then i have barely moved for 2 days.

In some ways I hope it is covid if this is as bad as it gets. But i cant see it can be covid as its not bad enough considering im a vulnerable person.

I got quite ill from flu a few years back and was in and out of hospital. But i suppose with flu everyone gets properly sick. With covid some people don't even know they have it so it could be possible to have it mildly even when on the vulnerable list.

I hope you test positive for your own peace of mind.
We’ve had negative results but clear symptoms, DH has been quite unwell, almost hospitalised yesterday, in A+ E for 6 hours, which was day 8. They said it was pointless to test him again as it’s obvious he has it.
I’ve been mild, exactly like your symptoms in fact and feel fine, just a minor cough now.
I really want antibody tests so we can be certain.

Its so hard if you cant trust the test results no matter what they say!

Your child didn't get a flu vaccine did they?

Only asking because in young children they have a live vaccine and they shouldn't go near you if you're on immunosuppressants.

You are still 70% likely to be negative with a neg result but if you have clear symptoms you should assume infection.
If a large proportion of the infected are asymptomatic and 30% with symptoms have neg results, well, releasing lockdown will be a disaster.

No flu vaccine for my son so not that.

Just heading off for test now. Feel a Wally really as chest is very sore and tight and a little cough but I feel better than yesterday. Feel I'm at more risk at the test site with all those ill people and the ones doing the testing. Glad I got an earlier test though. The test site is rubbish as still not offering me my local place. A different site 30 mins away had appointments all day today including that exact moment I was online. I was trying since 7am. The system is not good.

In New Zealand they do random tests on people as they arrive at the supermarket. And they have no new cases today.

Had the test. All straight forward and the place felt safe.

I have googled though and my son had the MMR and the combined polio/tetnus/whooping cough/diptheria. The MMR is live which I didn't realise. Some of my symptoms fit with mild symptoms of those - headache, sore throat, cough etc etc. I feel better today. 48 hours until i get the results but im confident it will be a negative. Not sure if i am happy with that or not. I was sort of hoping these mild symptoms were covid and this is as bad as it gets for me.
