Covid 19 symptom tracker app

Is anyone using this app? A research project with kings college London. You report your symptoms each day to help track symptoms in the community.

They have just sent an email to say I've been invited for a test from the symptoms reported.

I had awful abdominal pain yesterday and stabbing chest pains felt like my chest was on fire. Absolutely fine today though....

We use it. Not had any symptoms though

TheBlueBottles · 01/05/2020 21:29

Oh really? Are you in one of the groups for testing?

I have been using it. Felt bad on one day, like all my joints hurt when standing. Other than that fine.

311,000 people reporting symptoma though Confused

monkeytennis97 · 01/05/2020 21:33

Yup me and DH are using it and quite a few of my friends

jennylindinha · 01/05/2020 21:42

Yes, I am using it and have also been offered a test! I have only been reporting symptoms recently, but noting in the app that they are most likely hayfever, so I think that is why I am in one of the testing groups. They want to test a range of people to see if their algorithms are correct at predicting cases of covid-19. I am going to take the test, but I would be extremely surprised if it came back positive... It will be really interesting to see the results of their testing.

Erictheavocado · 01/05/2020 21:42

My boss sent us all a link at the start of lockdown and asked us to consider using it. I check in daily. Haven't yet had any of the symptoms listed. It's interesting that you've been invited for a test - I'd go if asked. I also find it interesting how the listing symptoms is changing regularly, presumably as a result of symptoms being reported, either by users of the app or by people who are now testing positive. It's actually quite comforting to know it's working.

MrsWooster · 01/05/2020 21:49

I've used it for a couple of weeks, reporting symptoms of extreme fatigue, some temperature, joint pain. No call for a test and I'm coming out of the symptoms now. Looks like I'll be waiting for the antibody tests to be invemted!

Beach11 · 01/05/2020 21:52

I’ve been using it & reported some symptoms. I got invited for a test & had it done but got inconclusive result.

DailyMailSucks · 01/05/2020 21:54

I've been invited for a test too, I reckon the emails they sent us all were counted towards the government "meeting it's target" for testing.

Does anyone know what time new home tests are added to the site? They're currently unavailable and I don't drive.

SpongeCake23 · 01/05/2020 21:59

Can you use it even if you had symptoms 6 weeks ago?

PonderTweek · 01/05/2020 22:02

I've been using the app for about a month, and was also offered a test yesterday after I reported a sore throat the day before. I didn't go for it because I'm fairly sure I don't have Covid, but wondered if they're offering lots of tests because of the target.

I saw lots of new symptoms listed as well today, and I think it's great that they're thorough.

MadeForThis · 01/05/2020 22:09

Been using it for a month or so. No symptoms so no test offered.

Fluffymulletstyle · 01/05/2020 22:15

Yes I've been using it about a month. Reported fatigue several times ( thinking children related!) But yesterday I had abdominal pain and back pain,

that felt quite unusual. I do wander whether it is the push for meeting the target driving it the nearest test centre is 23 miles away though!

Fluffymulletstyle · 01/05/2020 22:18

@SpongeCake23 probably won't offer you a test if symptoms were 6 weeks ago but they are monitoring what symptoms people are reporting to try and track potential coronavirus spread

Northernsoullover · 01/05/2020 22:27

I use it. Fortunately nothing to report.

kevintheorangecarrot · 01/05/2020 22:27

Yes I do

Realitea · 01/05/2020 22:30

Yes, a doctor friend recommended we all get the app a while back.
I’ve been reporting daily and when I reported fatigue and a rash I was offered a test. The next day I was in a different county having a test. Fantastic!

ShakespearesSisters · 01/05/2020 22:33

Yes, been using it for a good month, added husband and two kids about a week ago. All physically normal here so far.

BeforeIPutOnMyMakeup · 01/05/2020 22:39

Using the app.

I'm helping with another survey, common cold one, so my household has been tested a few weeks back.

Was then sent another load of tests today with just "Public Health England" on them. I suspect this is part of the 100k test target that had to be reached yesterday....

AlexaShutUp · 01/05/2020 22:40

I'm been using it, but haven't had any symptoms to report.

refusetobeasheep · 01/05/2020 22:44

I got an invite for a test today, having it on Sunday. I had diarrhoea and a headache, so am assuming they're doing a huge data trawl to see if any of these symptoms are early signs of Covid. I will be amazed if I come back positive!

Fluffymulletstyle · 01/05/2020 22:50

@Realitea did you test positive?

I find it hard to know whether stress / paranoia are making things worse. I'm pretty laid back m, but was convinced yesterday night I had it! Also pain on/ off all day, burning fe

I’ve been using the app for a few weeks and have encouraged others to use it. I did report a few symptoms though it was definitely a case of feeling “not quite right” as the app phrases it, rather then being properly ill. Was surprised to get an email a couple of days ago inviting me for a test as I didn’t know that was a possibility. I live close to a test centre so it wasn’t a problem to go (I booked the first morning slot as it was apparently carnage at my centre last week). Did the test - info said I could choose for someone to administer the test but wasn’t given this option when I got there, so not sure how accurate it will be as I found it really difficult to hold the swab at the back of my throat.

Just watching the announcement on the news that they have “reached” the magic 100k testing figure so can’t help wondering if this is one of the reasons they are including volunteers, although I’m sure the information gained will add to the research.

Fluffymulletstyle · 01/05/2020 22:53

Realitea · 01/05/2020 23:35

It was today I had the test so it’ll be a couple of days I expect. Not sure I did the test very well as it was really horrible trying to swab my own tonsils! I’ll be very surprised if it comes back positive tbh

MrsFezziwig · 01/05/2020 23:47

@Realitea glad it wasn’t just me - there’s certainly nothing wrong with my gag reflex! Unfortunately tickling my tonsils with the swab led to a massive coughing fit so probably the staff thought I had a really severe case of Covid - I haven’t even been suffering from a cough!
