What realistic changes would you like to see coming?

Id really like

  • more than one walk a day (heavily pregnant and one walk is always short and not enough but i need a rest)
  • drive to exercise (mainly so i can have a nice flat walk)
  • see close family (mainly as i know it means a lot to other people)
  • garden centres reopening

Ideally I'd like national trust gardens open again but i dont think thats realistic so not on my list.

I would do anything to be able to see my partner and my dad, my mental health is finding this all very hard to manage. I’m a single mum of 2 children and I just want to be able to hug them.

HermioneWeasley · 01/05/2020 20:48

Lockdown eased from Monday 11th May. First things: reopen non essential shops with social distancing, allowed out as much as you want, can see friends and family as you choose. Continue to work from home if you can, but otherwise get back to newly opened businesses. Covid and non covid hospitals, restart appointments and treatment

After a few weeks, personal service businesses such as salons, physios etc to reopen with both parties wearing masks.

After a few more weeks, pubs and restaurants to reopen with social distancing.

Big gatherings - sports, concerts, theatre etc closed indefinitely

No idea how you restart air travel - at your own risk I guess?

nex18 · 01/05/2020 20:48

Mainly to be able to see people from outside your home. In my case my partner who I don’t live with.
I think opening up outdoor spaces to include being able to use play areas, open air gyms and being able to sit down should be possible.
Covid and non covid hospitals and health care.

Patch23042 · 01/05/2020 21:30

I’d like people to be able to visit their partner if not in the same household.
Smear tests, mammograms etc
Outdoor play for children.
Religious services.
Dentists
Museums and galleries.
Zoos.
Garden centres.
National Trust gardens.
Athletics tracks outdoors
Golf courses and outdoor tennis courts (but not the club houses)

Re - the economy :
Cafes open for takeaway or drive though. Ice cream vans, burger vans, chippies etc.
Hairdressers/barbers/salons/reflexologists/opticians/osteopaths/podiatrists etc with masks, minimal customers at once, and no walk-ins ... should be appointment only for tracing purposes if necessary.
Estate agents?? Not sure. Maybe two buyers per viewing maximum, hands sanitised, masks on.
Construction work continuing (if safe).

AlecTrevelyan006 · 01/05/2020 21:32

my wife has been unfurloughed from her garden centre job this week in preparation for re-opening 'soon'

AlecTrevelyan006 · 01/05/2020 21:32

I just want the tip to re-open

Dadnotamum72 · 01/05/2020 21:34

Burger vans are open now ( those that want to / can show social distancing)

CuteOrangeElephant · 01/05/2020 21:45

I really want to go to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. There's no reason there couldn't be 1.5m distance there.

SpongeCake23 · 01/05/2020 21:47

Seeing family
Visit national trust places
Visit my local Manor House and gardens that we used to go to regularly
Playgrounds re-opening
Attending my mental health support group face to face, opposed to Zoom or over the phone

MaryShelley1818 · 01/05/2020 21:53

You can go out more than once
You can drive to exercise
All of our garden centres are open for delivery

I would like to take DS to see his Grandparents, take DS swimming, and have a family day out.

SpongeCake23 · 01/05/2020 21:57

I forgot to add playgroups and toddler groups to my list, although I know it may be longer due to social distancing and with toddlers it’ll be more difficult.

MontyBowJangles · 01/05/2020 22:00

I'd like to be able to drop the kids off to their grandparents round the corner for a few hours. Both households fit and healthy, would be great for all of us.

I'd like my 9yo to be able to do his piano lessons again as he hates the video call versions so has stopped Sad

I'd like to be able to meet with a friend or two whilst maintaining a min 2m distance at all times. Like at a park or in our garden for a drink and chat.

PoloNeckKnickers · 01/05/2020 22:03

To be able to go to Church.

To take my moggy to the vets for a check up and his annual jabs.

TwoKidsStillStanding · 01/05/2020 22:13

I would love a takeaway coffee and amble round a garden centre.

And for National Trust gardens and places like zoos to reopen.

Unrealistically, I’d love to go to baby groups, send DC1 safely to school and gym class, and go and visit my parents - but my mum is shielding and it’s 3 hours away.

GrapefruitsAreNotTheOnlyFruit · 01/05/2020 23:55

It seems like outdoor activities are less risky so I would like to see restrictions on these ended first. Outdoor tennis classes and courts reopened. Children's outdoor activities like football and cricket allowed.

maddy68 · 02/05/2020 00:02

I'd like to be able to go and see a designated bunch of friends

MegBusset · 02/05/2020 00:10

Schools reopening (whatever that may entail) is my number one priority. Everything else is way down the list but would be nice:

  • tips reopening
  • being able to drive a bit further for a walk (we have lots of quiet beaches tantalisingly close)
  • being able to meet a small number of friends or family outdoors, while keeping social distancing
goldpendant · 02/05/2020 00:12

@Heartofglass12345 we ordered my dad a CPAP from the link a previous poster had used for the same reasons - next day delivery, they were so helpful, on the phone to help with questions and set up. You do need your diagnosis in writing to order. PM if you've any questions.

goldpendant · 02/05/2020 00:14

I'd just like to see more of family and friends, and for 65yo DM to come and help with the kids so I can do a bit if work!

ARudeTerriblePerson · 02/05/2020 00:19

Dentists!

The gym!

Time40 · 02/05/2020 00:32

All the people saying garden centres .... just out of curiosity, why? What's so wonderful about garden centres, of all things?

SWemily · 02/05/2020 01:51

Dentists!

Tangledyarn · 02/05/2020 03:08

I want to see my parents but they are 2 hours away.
I want garden centres to open.
I'd like children particularly those without a garden to be able to go to parks and playgrounds (I dont have kids myself but worry about families without any outdoor space)
Other than that I'm not really desperate for anything else to change immediately.

Tangledyarn · 02/05/2020 03:12

I'd also like my migraine treatments for chronic daily migraine to start again.

ihatethecold · 02/05/2020 07:23

Time40

I love gardening and find its very good for my mh.
There is nothing better than having a wander round a GC or plant nursery and picking a few plants.
Not fussed about the in store cafes.
