New thread for those having longer symptoms of Covid.

OP posts:

@alittleprivacy
I think that's what happens. Especially when people exert themselves and then relapse, I think people's immune systems assume they are under attack again.
90 days.....
In 55 more days i will be completely clear of this son of a bitch.
I'm just praying there is no lasting damage.

Moodgie · 03/05/2020 11:47

@alittleprivacy That’s sort of what I have been thinking. The body has been so battered that anything that it detects makes it defend itself again.

isitorisntit · 03/05/2020 11:56

Thanks folk. I looked on the app store and couldn't see one (I have android, son has iPhone). Do you know the name of it? The only ones I could see need a separate device.

Bornlazy · 03/05/2020 11:57

@alittleprivacy I like that theory! Given that most of it is guesswork at this stage I’m going to stick with that as it explains away some of the symptoms that I still have that don’t quite tie in with post viral fatigue.

I felt good this morning so did a bit of housework and then went my walk. I’m relaxing now in the garden and I don’t plan on doing much else today.

@Gunner30 I think a few drinks really do help. I’d normally have a couple at the weekend to chill out so I’m back to doing that and I don’t feel any different the next day. The whole thing is much more bearable with a wee glow.

Bornlazy · 03/05/2020 12:00

My oximeter was£10 from eBay and it’s fine. I’ve checked it against the ones in my ward and its fairly accurate.

alittleprivacy · 03/05/2020 12:05

The news I shared from Korea earlier this week is hitting the mainstream here now.

Gunner30 · 03/05/2020 12:06

@bornlazy definitely helps and nice to start getting back to some normality. Glad you're doing well and sounds like we are at a fairly similar point in terms of recovery. Take care and long may this improvement continue. X

alittleprivacy · 03/05/2020 12:07

@isitorisntit This is the one I'm using on iphone

mumlurker · 03/05/2020 12:08

Is anyone still getting oxygen dips this far along? They don't last long, but dipping down to low nineties high eighties for a few seconds, and then coming back up, over and over for about ten mins...then normal levels resume. Very inflamed chest at the moment so maybe that's affecting it?

alittleprivacy · 03/05/2020 12:11

I'm not much of a drinker, I tend to have a drink a few times a year. But I'd bought a bottle of (Aldi type) Baileys at Christmas that I hadn't opened and I'd been thinking of having a drink during lockdown. Then I decided against as alcohol is an immunosuppressant so obviously I wanted to avoid that in a pandemic. But as I'm now having postviral symptoms that are probably to do with my immune system being overactive, maybe a few drinks would be the best thing for me!!! Put the immune system to sleep for a few hours and let my inflammation fuck off!!! Grin

JackJackIncredible · 03/05/2020 12:12

@mumlurker

Are they dipping at particular points?

fedupofbed · 03/05/2020 12:17

Hello. Day 65. I'm reluctantly posting as feeling very sorry for myself right now. I see no end in sight and don't want to bring everyone down, but hope you don't mind me offloading.

I've been bed bound since 3rd March. There've been better days when I've been downstairs to the garden, but I've not had one of those days for a while now and have seen no improvement for some time. Being immobile for so long is undoubtedly not helping but for most of the day I'm so chronically exhausted and the effort of getting up makes me nauseous and light headed. My heart races and my SATS go crazy. Then I feel even more ill - it sort of comes in a warm wave.

My chest sort of feels 'raw' and sensitive and I get periods of shortness of breath throughout the day, which still frighten me after all this time.

I find it really hard to sleep but the very very worst thing is waking up. I wake up in complete agitation, almost terror and it takes ages to get rid of this feeling. Does anyone else get that?

I have to try and find a way of adjusting to the fact that in my case this is long term now and I'm not going to bounce back any time soon. DH is about to lose his job too but that's another story. Literally our whole world has been upended.

Sorry I'm feeling really pathetic today.

mumlurker · 03/05/2020 12:18

Yeah after vey mild exertion...like putting the kettle on or going to the bathroom.

fedupofbed · 03/05/2020 12:19

@mumlurker I cross posted, yes exactly the same for me.

Meercatmama · 03/05/2020 12:31

@fedupofbed
I am so sorry that you are feeling bad at this far along. I have no advice but just wanted to acknowledge that you had been heard and that we are here for you even if it is just to off load. Try not to worry about your husbands job I know it is hard not to. I think everyones world has been upended and I am the first to admit that this has been hard for me as well. I realised being sad and depressed seems to be part of this virus and it is good to acknowledge it and when I spoke to my doctor about help he aid that too. Thinking of you and hoping it gets a little better today

emoojoo · 03/05/2020 12:31

@Lightsabre @godhelpusall @Moominmamma33
I got dh to take me to a&e this am after waking with temp 38.4 and pulse 134 (I'm on day 44) as I was v concerned. Have had blood tests, ecg, doctor exam. All clear which is good, but am none the wiser which isn't! The only weird thing is my period arrived while I was at the hospital and it's only day 17 of my cycle which I was not expecting and would account for some of this weeks gastric/insomnia problems (am perimenopausal and it's usually 21 or 24 or 27 days) - the guy said no need to keep me in on any of their tests, but to keep in touch with gp to investigate. I'm wondering if the post virus stuff is exacerbating menstrual stuff somehow. Thank you for being in touch and hope everyone doing ok. We'll get there! Thanks

mumlurker · 03/05/2020 12:33

@fedupofbed horrible isn't it! I live in fear of moving too fast in case I set myself off again. The chest pain is quite new to me although I know others have been suffering from it from an earlier stage. Even texting gives me twinges sometimes!

Sorry you're feeling so low today. I felt the same way yesterday, and lack of sleep certainly doesn't help. I'm finding I have to reaccept every day that this is going to take a while. I've been talking to a friend who had pneumonia and she's been really helpful in terms of helping me manage expectations regarding speed of recovery. I am pretty sure we are mostly all post viral at least.

Bornlazy · 03/05/2020 12:34

@fedupofbed that sounds really terrible for you. Have you tried sitting on the edge of the bed for a while before you even attempt to stand so that your body adjusts to your feet being down? Maybe one of the posters who’ve had CFS can advise more as it sounds as though your post viral fatigue might need managed in a similar way. I would try not to monitor your sats quite so much as I think it will be making you feel worse watching the numbers change. In work we have to sometimes turn the monitors so the patient can’t see them as you can actually see people’s HR climbing as they watch it. Do you live alone? Is there someone in RL to help you out?

emoojoo · 03/05/2020 12:38

@fedupofbed really sorry you're struggling - when dealing with all the confusing waves of symptoms I found I am very anxious on top of it all - I've downloaded a load of calm apps and listen to those during the scary bits at night etc - they help a bit at least to take the edge off and try and help you rest. I have Calm which I like best, and Headspace. They are quite soothing when things are worrying.

Countingsheeps · 03/05/2020 12:43

I’m currently in a&e after 111 told me to go there woke this morning with dizziness and a resting pulse over 100, 150+ when standing up. Had an ecg and have had bloods taken, waiting for a chest x ray and news on results. I am pretty scared tbh, but seeing some of you having had similar symptoms and being able to go home with clear tests has given me a little hope.

@fedupofbed big hugs, I still feel awful on day 43 so not quite as far along, but far enough to be despondent xxx

emoojoo · 03/05/2020 12:46

@countingsheeps all the best, hope it goes ok, let us know Thanks

mumlurker · 03/05/2020 12:47

@countingsheeps hope you're ok, fingers crossed for you!

Silvergoldsilver · 03/05/2020 12:53

@Gunner30 Thank you so much for sharing your progress - it’s really reassuring and just what I needed to read today when I’m having a pretty bad day 42. I’m hoping I can be where you are once I reach day 49.

@fedupofbed So sorry to hear you are still experiencing such horrible symptoms. Know that you are not alone in this. As others have mentioned, apps can be helpful. I use insight timer when I just want to hear soothing music or some guided meditation if you feel like it. How has your diet been? Are you able to have broth or soups etc?

Meercatmama · 03/05/2020 12:55

@emoojoo @Countingsheeps Thinking of you and hope you are ok

Dorual · 03/05/2020 12:56

@emoojoo @Countingsheeps

Were you both in the red Covid zone? Are you worried about catching the virus from there if there's a chance your illness wasn't Covid?
