Watching today's update and the cars usage graph shows that people are starting to drive for non-essential journeys again.

WHY?

Why can't people just stay at home?! Stop driving around! I see people shopping twice a week or more, regularly. WHY?!

This thread certainly highlights how people don't prep, and how little resilience they have.

I do prep and with the storage and freezer space i have, have enough to manage 2 weeks of self isolation. While I can shop fairly freely, as freely as the faff involved allows, I will do so I don't have to dip into that stash.

I'm sure there's many in the same boat.

Just as there are people in this thread who have much less storage space than I do and lack the income to have stashed food, in the first place.

Or how little money/storage space/access to transport/mobility due to age or disability they have.

As I've said 4869415 times on here since all this began, not everyone can buy in bulk/go to the shop once a month for a huge range of reasons.

LaLaLandIsNoFun · 27/04/2020 13:53

People certainly show their lived experience when it doesn’t court to them that some people lack space and appliances to be able to have a months supply of food.

justasking111 · 27/04/2020 13:55

I bought DIL a present before lockdown. This weekend was her birthday, went into wardrobe and found a bag full of prepped goodies, pasta, rice, biscuits. {grin]

Fucking hell this is not nuculer fall out. Its a virus with mild symptoms for 80% of the population. If I need to pop out for nappies, or dog food or milk or apples, I will.

@Kasabian23

**“ I get that nobody enjoys being inside all the time but I have to do it so everyone else should too. I will report who ever I have to because this needs to be taken more seriously than it is being.“

Are you aiming for some sort of Blue Peter badge?
Have you got some trackers to deploy and a zoom lense as well as plenty of deep heat for when all the curtain twitching gives you joint ache. Of course you won’t have any paracetamol because that might have involved several excursions to several shops thereby making you a massive hypocrite.’

Eastie77 · 27/04/2020 14:11

I drive for about 20 minutes a couple of times a week to take my DC to a local forest for their exercise. It is a huge woodland area so easy to maintain social distancing, we do not come into close contact with anyone. They are probably there for longer than an hour. Sue me.

I genuinely couldn't care less if anyone is upset about this. Literally past caring. I'm sick to the back teeth of the MN CoronaPolice. My DC need fresh air and exercise. Our local parks are very busy so at least this way they can play freely without colliding with other people or 'eating crisps on a bench' , a CoronaPolice crime listed in that other demented thread.

One of the saddest aspect of this lockdown is that some people really have found themselves with too much time on their hands. If you are respecting the one hour per day exercise rule (or not even going outside at all) I don't understand how you know so much about what other people are doing. Oh, you're standing by your window watching? Maybe time to take up a hobby.

I will continue taking them out come hell or high water. There is no end in sight for this lockdown and I'm not keeping them cooped up inside indefinetly.

stophuggingme · 27/04/2020 14:16

@Eastie77
I am doing the same two or three days a week after the stay local exercise fiasco.

We have a fifteen minute drive of so and then us and the dog have about two hours fresh air and exercise. With a picnic. Someone shoot me.
We have seen about a dozen other people in all that time. Walking round the streets is much harder to maintain social distance.

I've shared a few pictures to my neighbourhood watch page of people in my village who have been flouting the rules. Just this morning I caught a man walking past my house on 3 separate occasions and he wasn't exactly young. Does these people have a death wish or something? Se are supposed to be staying in for our own good.

Blooming heck Kasa. you really are taking this too seriously. My advice, look after yourself and draw the curtains.

Kokeshi123 · 27/04/2020 14:41

Older people shouldn't even be outside at all.

You are blatantly making up rules now.

Naff off and stop being a tiresome tattle-tale.

Eastie77 · 27/04/2020 14:44

Taking pictures of people flouting the rules Grin

Kasa, what do you hope to achieve by this? Are you some sort of self appointed stasi? Do you expect someone on the neighbourhood watch scheme to pop round and give the person a good talking to? Or are you informing the police? Honestly, I dont understand what you would achieve by putting someones picture up and naming and shaming someone. I saw my neighbour out twice the other day, I just presumed he was doing shopping and /or going for a walk. None of my business really. The "rules" are guidance really. Went for 2 walks the other day. Dont care what people think about that.

TabbyMumz · 27/04/2020 15:48

Honestly, Kasa, people remember your sort of behaviour and what you are doing, ie taking pictures of people and putting it up on social media.

Aesopfable · 27/04/2020 16:02

I wonder if Kasabian has heard of the malicious Communications Act?

pfrench · 27/04/2020 16:16

I've been out twice a day quite often. I live on a dead end street and can be at the park in 2 minutes. I pass no one, the park is empty.

This is not a public order issue, this is a public health issue. So long as I'm not putting anyone's health at risk, I'll carry on getting exercise and fresh air and helping my own mental health along a little.

I wonder how long curtain twitchers sit there to watch? I mean, maybe some people have been going out 10 times a day but you miss 9 of them? Better take a picture and whack it on FB quickly...

MarginalGain · 27/04/2020 16:18

If a neighbour claimed online that I had committed some imaginary covid19 violation, with my name and photo, I would remediate ruthlessly.

RoseyLentil · 27/04/2020 16:23

We live on a main trunk road (rural location) and there's lots more traffic but it's mainly lorries and building/trades vans. I wouldn't say it's more normal folks going out, not round us anyway.

decisionsdecision · 27/04/2020 17:34

Yes! My neighbours have gone out 6 times today. First time they came back with bags of shopping. Fine the next times we've had some trees/plants, some paint, some wooden beams, a blow up hot tub and a BBQ.
Before I'm moaned at for watching them their parking space is opposite our front window which our sofa faces. They back in and unload directly in front of it!

Topseyt · 27/04/2020 17:57

Ooooh, a blow-up hot tub! Now there's an idea. I might take a look around B & Q next weekend. Could do with one of those out in the garden when we next light the barbie. A nice bottle of wine too always goes down well.

decisionsdecision · 27/04/2020 18:02

@Topseyt I would've thought they would've made the effort to get it in the nicer weather to be honest!

Topseyt · 27/04/2020 18:06

Well, we can hope the nice weather comes back. Did I hear that it might be warming up again later in the week?

decisionsdecision · 27/04/2020 18:07

@Topseyt we're just forecast rain unfortunately.

Drivingdownthe101 · 27/04/2020 18:07

Thankfully, contrary to these threads, it was reported in the press briefing today that people are still adhering to the advice to stay at home.

Drivingdownthe101 · 27/04/2020 18:08

We bought a hot tub but had it delivered (queue all the posters berating me for murdering people by ordering non essential items online).

Frequency · 27/04/2020 18:35

And i also wish people would not take photos of others

This.

I'm not letting my kids out alone atm due to the rising trend of 'shaming' teenagers online. One of my has severe anxiety. It dxc o u ld push her to self harm or worse if she was 'shamed' online.

I've always been uncomfortable with it, due to the nature of the comments left on the posts. I'm not sure about anyone else's local groups but mine has very vocal minority who like yo call for children to be subjects to corporal and capital punishment bug I didn't have to worry about my kids being photographed and shamed until lock down started. Before then it was kids being accused of anti social behaviour. Now they're shaming teens for daring to ride a bike or go out in pairs, even though they could very well live together. I hate society atm and it's not because a few people are taking a sandwich to enjoy during their exercise.
