Thread for continuing long-term Coronavirus support

Hello! Well feeling better was too good to be true. Again.

No lung pain for 4 days, this was the first time in 6 weeks. Did a bit of walking, slowly. Then yesterday burning chest again, weird numbness in nose, lips, knees etc. Today I'm exhausted, tight chest again.

Anyway, sorry if this sounds rude, someone shared an article today which said overweight and obese people might suffer worst. I could do with losing 3-4st. I eat healthy but I carry a lot with a very slow metabolism. I wonder if it's a trend on this board...

alittleprivacy · 28/04/2020 14:48

Day 42 here. Definite reduction in pain but my chest/lungs/upper back feels super tingly like crazy pins and needles today. My breathing isn't right but the bigger the breath I take the worse the tingling. I'm pretty sure that in my first round of this virus, the tinglyness was the beginning of the end. I had looked up the feeling and read that it was a sign of damaged nerves healing.

Last time the tingling was like it was directly inside my airways/lungs. This time it genuinely feels more like it's around them. Which I guess tallies with first time around the virus being active inside my lungs and this time around it's in the lining. Ie pleurisy rather than in my lungs. Of course I'm aware that some of how I'm feeling could be confirmation bias and I'm making the feelings match with what I think I know.

mumlurker · 28/04/2020 14:52

Day 46 here and feeling mild breathlessness and dizziness today for the first time in weeks. Can't stop yawning (although hardly slept last night). Weird constricted feeling in my throat is also back. Feeling quite down today and can't imagine ever being back to normal.

For those with gastric symptoms - I had them for a couple of weeks, although they started to ease off towards the end of last week. Still a bit off but nothing like what it was.

godhelpusall · 28/04/2020 14:54

@Linus1972 I think that the response to the virus causes inflammation everywhere, so Costochondritis is inflammation which might explain it?

Moodgie · 28/04/2020 14:55

@user34254356 @Sweetie60 There is a designated covid hot clinic here where the GP sent me after a phone conversation. Before that, I also saw a GP in out of hours at the hospital on a Sunday after a 111 call.

Egghead68 · 28/04/2020 14:57

Sorry if I have asked this before but is anyone finding their blood pressure goes really low on bad days?

mumlurker · 28/04/2020 15:00

@Egghead68

I don't have a way of measuring blood pressure, but I'm finding that on bad days I'm very dizzy and get head rushes a lot more. Often find myself standing up and then having to sit myself down quickly to avoid fainting.

Egghead68 · 28/04/2020 15:00

@isotorisntit my BMI was 20.3 immediately prior to this. I have gained 2kg since. A lot of us on this board seem to have been quite physically fit too (runners etc).

Moominmamma33 · 28/04/2020 15:16

My BMI is 23, also a runner. I was just wondering whether someone should make a Survey monkey survey or something for our group so we could spot similarities/differences and any possible patterns to work out what's going on?

Dorual · 28/04/2020 15:22

@user34254356 It's OK doing the finger prick test but it does bruise a bit after. It will bleed more than a standard finger pricker, like a diabetic finger test.

It's not pleasant, but not really painful. I've done it on a few occasions so it hasn't put me off!

Needsomegoodnews · 28/04/2020 15:25

@isitorisntit I think that increased risk was based on hospitalised cases. These mild/moderate ones don’t seem to have an obvious trend. My BMI is 19.

@mumlurker same - no blood pressure measurement but can only assume the lightheadedness must be related (have previously had low blood pressure).

My heart rate is all over the place today and feeling rubbish as I ‘celebrate’ a full 6 weeks since my temp first went up...

mumlurker · 28/04/2020 15:29

BMI of 20 here. Did weights, cycling, bit of running before this. I would not be surprised at all if my vitamin D levels were perilously low before this though.

Crayfishforyou · 28/04/2020 15:31

DH has been fine for 3 weeks. He started coughing yesterday, said it was hayfever. Today he says he doesn't feel very well. His sinus headache has come back, this is how it started for him to begin with.
He also has the flushed cheeks that dd and I have.

user34254356 · 28/04/2020 15:41

@dorual thanks - sounds like a good way to get some basic checks done especially without leaving the house.

Egghead68 · 28/04/2020 15:52

@mumlurker and @Needsomegoodnews thanks - that sounds the same as me.

@moominmama33 a survey monkey or doodle poll or something of our symptoms sounds like a good idea. I would offer to do it but I can’t focus and don’t have the energy at the moment (today at least). Alternatively we could do the low tech solution of everyone listing their symptoms in posts on here and someone compiling a spreadsheet/graph.

Dorual · 28/04/2020 15:55

@user34254356

Yes. I really rate Medichecks. Been using them for a few years on and off. Doctor comments on test results too.

mumlurker · 28/04/2020 16:08

@Dorual

How much analysis do the doctors offer? And have you ever taken them to your GP if there's an issue? I feel like my GP wouldn't like that!

SimpleKindofLife · 28/04/2020 16:12

@alittleprivacy I have horrible tingly chest pain too today! It's like burning pins and needles. Good to hear it might actually be healing. I was worried I was getting worse!

Somewhere around week 4/5. Feeling wiped out today. Constant tingly chest pain and heart rate going up and down. Breathlessness has eased though and no other symptoms today. Just feel like crap really!

Moodgie · 28/04/2020 16:27

@simplekindoflife Feel wiped out today as well.

SimpleKindofLife · 28/04/2020 16:42

Sorry for delay in updating but I did go to A&E in the end. On Sunday I had another breathing episode and my heart was going mad. Chest hurt so much, especially on the left side and I had pins and needles all down my arms. I phoned 111 who diagnosed a possible heart attack or blood clot and said to get checked out. So I went!

I wore a mask and queued outside 2m apart, didn't use the toilet or touch anything! But there wasn't much social distancing going on inside. I was in and out in 3 hours and they were all so nice!! But the doctor was pretty adamant it wasn't Covid at first. He listened to my chest (which was clear) I had an ECG, blood tests and a chest X-ray. The chest X-ray showed some 'haziness and slight inflammation' on the lungs (slight?!?! I feel like I've been hit by a bus most days!) which pointed to pneumonia but it was showing signs of improvement. The ECG was clear, but typically my heart wasn't doing it's usual palpitations! My blood tests were all normal - even the infections marker (how is that possible??) anyway, he asked another doctor for advice who said she was treating another lady with the same symptoms who they suspect has a longer version of Covid. So that was there conclusion - Covid.

Although they said it's unusual to have no fever at all and for symptoms to go on longer than 14 days Hmm And they said they don't think I'm contagious anymore as it's been so long...4/5 weeks. But no Covid test done. Just said to rest and take paracetamol.

I feel relieved that it's not anything else but I still don't know for sure it's Covid. I was hoping the reassurance would ease the heart palpitations but my heart is doing its usual crazy beating today. Chest hurts, but less pressure, more like burning pins and needles now. Not sure what feels worse! And I feel exhausted and delicate today.

Let's hope recovery won't be much longer, my DD's birthday is in 16 days and I want be fun Mummy not miserable mummy! Sad

SimpleKindofLife · 28/04/2020 16:42

Sorry to hear that @Moodgie - maybe it's the weather making us feel worse?

Dorual · 28/04/2020 16:51

@mumlurker

They answer any concern/ reason for you requesting the test with a short explanation of your results. You can email asking further questions if needed. Your result is shown on a graph and with a tracker if you order again.

I had an abnormal result once and took it to my GP, who then ordered the same test via NHS, to then investigate.

Most of the time I've ordered to reassure myself/ keep an eye on stuff without having to bother the GP.

godhelpusall · 28/04/2020 16:57

@SimpleKindofLife I wonder about the weather thing.

mumlurker · 28/04/2020 17:26

@Dorual

Thanks, sounds like a good service. might give one a try.

KatySun · 28/04/2020 17:27

SimpleKindofLife I was referred to our covid hub last night because of worsening chest pain to rule out cardiac issues. I was told the opposite of you, that they are seeing people now with 4, 5 or 6 weeks of symptoms and that because I am still coughing to assume I am still infectious.
The doctor said that they think you can get it severely in intensity (and need hospitalisation) and severely in duration. They also were not able to tell me when they thought it would resolve.

Anyway sorry to jump on the thread. I am about day 38 now.
