Thread for continuing long-term Coronavirus support

OP posts:
pinkoneblueone · 27/04/2020 09:55

@Moodgie yes I have had this though mine was most likely in relation to my panic attack

Moodgie · 27/04/2020 09:56

@pinkoneblueone I have had it every morning for a couple of weeks now, although not sure when it started.

TheDrsWife46 · 27/04/2020 10:35

@Moodgie this stopped for me when i started taking a multivitamin, the iron in it definately sorted me out.

TheDrsWife46 · 27/04/2020 10:37

@WorriesomeDad yes!!!! It still gives me air hunger where I gasp or yawn. I did find this useful leaflet
www.sfh-tr.nhs.uk/media/8435/pil201910-01-bpd-breathing-pattern-disorders.pdf

Rosesofeyam · 27/04/2020 11:15

moodgie I get a bad stomach within an hour of getting up. It's been like this for over a week. I put it down to being on antibiotics for a month and taking prebiotics and sauerkraut. I'm hoping my stomach and indigestion will sort itself out soon.

Day 40
As above, I'm trying to sort my gastric problems.
Still SOB when doing things, much better when resting. Heart rate lower when sitting around 72. When doing something it goes up to 130. I'm still getting palpitations and fast heartbeat, even when doing nothing. Still have a slight chesty cough, not bringing much up.
The tiredness is getting better. I'm only limited by the SOB, painful chest.

Thank you to everyone on this thread and OP, I feel like I'm not alone in this. Flowers

Rosesofeyam · 27/04/2020 11:26

I can relate to the breathing thing. I'm severe asthmatic and have had physiotherapy for my breathing. I've been using the things I learnt, but this feels a lot different to asthma. My chest/breathing is not the same as usual. Sorry can't really put it into words. It's just off.

Oh, and to add to the long list of symptoms, I still have that shaky feeling.

Porcupineinwaiting · 27/04/2020 11:29

Day 39 I dont know what to write here anymore. I still feel like I have active COVID - not worse overall but no where near better either.

Dont know where to go from here.

Sweetie60 · 27/04/2020 11:34

@godhelpusall that's so interesting, and I'm pleased it's got better. I have been wondering whether the warmth behind my sternum has been coming from windpipe or oesophagus. Did you do anything to treat it, or did it just get better on it's own?

Moodgie · 27/04/2020 11:42

I think I am day 52.
Sore throat (and scratchy windpipe?) and morning tummy problems the main thing at the moment. Plus obvs the lack of energy.

Needsomegoodnews · 27/04/2020 11:49

@Porcupineinwaiting, I know how you feel and expect many of us do. I feel
like I’m getting better but then...don’t get better. Just get increasing and decreasing symptoms moving around. Today it’s heavy chest on sternum resulting in more laboured breathing and palpitations and a pounding headache (which is new for me) - although I did have a more active day yesterday so that might be why.

Is anyone just checking in with GP regularly to update or all sitting it out (miserably) like me? I’ve done the antibiotic thing so there isn’t anything else..

Has anyone got a test on the latest drip feed of eligible people?

Moodgie · 27/04/2020 11:55

@needsomegoodnews
I have been in touch with a GP but I feel like an idiot calling up now, after they checked me at the hub a couple of weeks ago and me calling afterwards twice that I still had the symptoms he has now told me that I just needed to ride it out.
I have a test, will do it first thing tomorrow for it to be collected later by a courier.

Meercatmama · 27/04/2020 11:59

Just got off the phone from my doctor. He confirmed He thinks I have definitely had covid and I am as he phrased it past the worst and in the post viral phase which can take a long time to recover. He has prescribed some antidepressants to he as he said the anxiety makes the post viral symptoms seem worse and they would help. He also said I was doing the right thing in taking Vit C and D and to drink loads and most of all rest. He also said to phone my headteacher and explain that I am post viral and need to take things slowly and rest, I have done that and she has been brilliant and removed all deadlines and we talked about what I could manage for today. She also said I have done the right thing to tell her and that mental health is more important. I feel at least comforted and listened to and it has helped to have it acknowledge by a doctor that I have been ill and need time to recover and not just anxious. Thank you for all your support I don't think I could have managed all of this without your support

Lightsabre · 27/04/2020 12:02

Day 31, short of breath, tight chest. Prescribed Doxycycline today and some drops as she thinks I have oral thrush as I have white spots at the back of my throat which I discovered yesterday when doing the CV swab. Fatigued also but going to attempt a short walk with ds and make a light lunch. Signed off for a further two weeks.

Moodgie · 27/04/2020 12:02

@meercatmama Glad about the positive news. May I please ask what symptoms you have now that your doctor classed as post viral?

mumlurker · 27/04/2020 12:08

I posted yesterday about ongoing heart issues. I have what feels like a dull ache or even just...awareness of my heart. I also have intermittent small stabby/needling pains that move around. I was having palpitations, but these have largely gone and blood pressure and heart rate are normal (I was check out by a GP last week). Is anyone else who is experiencing this been able to speak properly to a doctor about it and get an explanation? I've spoken to two separate GPs who seemed very unconcerned but I can't help worrying about it. It's not unduly painful and I'm not short of breath or anything like that, but it's my main symptom these days.

Meercatmama · 27/04/2020 12:10

I have tiredness, sore chest at the top, backache, intermittent cough, some shortness of breath which is getting less and the anxiety and tearfulness plus some disturbed nights with a hot flushing and ache under my armpits and down my right arm. He was especially caredull about the backache and shortness of breath as I suffer from cardiac spasms which is like angina and I take medication for it. He really emphasised that I should listen to my body and that I was doing all the right things and it will take time to recover and not to rush

Porcupineinwaiting · 27/04/2020 12:10

I spoke to a GP last week. He said to call back in 10 days (taking me to 6 weeks) if not better. That's Friday. Am going to push for some assessment (and hopefully answers then/next week).

My main symptoms are still v much burning lungs and sob on and off. And pulse rockets if I do anything, though not bad at rest. Sinus/ear/rib pain all there but minor.

Dorual · 27/04/2020 12:19

Yes I have the dull heart area pain too. My chest generally feels worse on cold, damp days. Today is the first time in a while I've felt the need to have a hot water bottle on my chest.

Crayfishforyou · 27/04/2020 12:39

Hello everyone on day 28.
I am feeling pretty sick today.
My heart likes to speed up and slow down, it also feels as though its skipping beats occasionally which gives me spasms of nausea.
I am feeling stronger underneath though. I'm a much better colour than I was too weeks ago.
And my legs don't feel like water anymore.
Hands and feet still freezing cold. Last night was better than the night before, I read an enid blyton to calm me down and actually got some sleep.
Dd7 is still suffering also. It vanished for a while and today she looks very pale with red cheeks and says she feels sick, and a bit dizzy.

fedupofbed · 27/04/2020 12:55

I feel for you all 💐. I have more symptoms now that I think are more related to the heart - palpitations, shooting heart rate, etc. Also shaky, light-headed, chills, intermittent breathlessness, burning chest and still the mild raised temperature. Just had a call back from my GP and she's referred me to hospital for more investigation. DH driving me now. I'll report back later.

mumlurker · 27/04/2020 13:01

@fedupofbed

good luck, hope it goes well!

@Dorual

Interesting that it might be weather related. I'm going to call the GP again in a few days if it's not getting any better. I've already dialled back on walking outside.

Needsomegoodnews · 27/04/2020 13:01

@fedupofbed oh poor you, it’s just relentless isn’t it. Glad you’re being investigated, do let us know how you get on x

Porcupineinwaiting · 27/04/2020 13:31

@fedupofbed good luck. Please do report back when you feel up to it x

OneDayAtATime123 · 27/04/2020 14:46

Hi All: I hope everyone feels better. This is an amazing group.
I just got my Covid result and it was negative. While I still have mild SoB on certain days, the good days outnumber the bad days by a much greater factor. My energy has been much better and I now walk 2 x20 minutes daily.
I also bought a Spirometer yesterday , to work on my lungs
P.S Please make sure you have electrolytes and are eating lots of green vegetables. Dehydration can cause lots of issues and just drinking water does not seem to help. I learnt it the hard way.

onlinelinda · 27/04/2020 15:02

@egghead68 I think you should be cautious about too much exercise too quickly. Your body is diverting itself and your metabolism to repair. Some gentle exercise such as walking would be the thing to build up first. But it's not ideal to overtax your body with exercise when it is using its energy and protein to repair damaged tissue. That's what I've been told, anyway.

I've been walking and I'm limiting it to 3 or 4 times a week, as when I overdid it I got ill again.
