Good to see you back gingerbread and Dianne! It is exciting about your brother being in antibody study gingerbreadslice. Regardless of what it actually means for someone to have antibodies, it is nice to know definitively that you’ve had it if you suspect you have.

You’re right Orange - I don’t remember anything special for finishing primary school... and now I think about it had everything been normal I probably would have been my normal self whinging about having to buy clothes for dances, having to go to boring end of year assemblies etc Grin

I’ve been noting down how far our walks are this week and me and all 3dc have walked a total of 7 miles, so average of a mile a day which I’m quite pleased with. Going to try and keep that up next week - it’s been good for us all.

DianneWhatcock · 22/05/2020 16:54

Wow @Callybrid that's great re the walking

Deffo keep it up

I have just been to Sainsbury's to get the ingredients for an Oreo cheesecake so I'm feeling happy right now

Interesting news re depletion of T cells. Not saying I 100% understand Grinbut sounds like a really useful advance in knowledge

tobee · 22/05/2020 17:08

Orangeblossom78 · 22/05/2020 17:15

There are some trials of immune meds which seem to increase T cells. Ironically my DH is on one of these and got a text about it maybe putting him in the shielding group...interesting and so much they don't know yet in terms of treatment.

tobee · 22/05/2020 18:30

There are a lot of pieces of conflicting science. Or rather stuff they imagined would apply but doesn't necessarily. Like originally the supposition was that China's numbers reflected the fact that a lot of fatalities were due to them being men who smoked. But now maybe something about smoking (nicotine?) might have a protective quality.
And you'd imagine that immune depressed people would suffer more. However, those with healthy immune systems can get cytokine storms. Where they are too good at dealing with infection. Which is what is believed to have happened in the 1918 Spanish Flu epidemic where young people suffered. Originally medics were expecting covid to be affect people mainly as a respiratory disease but it's more complex and surprising than that,

However, they've already made giant leaps in terms of information in such a short time!

Orangeblossom78 · 22/05/2020 19:57

Yes, that's right. Spanish flu hit the younger people with stronger immune systems worse than the older ones. very different to this. It's all quite interesting and fascinating if it wasn't also quite frightening in some ways. But all the information overload can be overwhelming. I'm trying to think of it as a lesson in dealing with stuff we don't know all the answers to

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 23/05/2020 14:03

Hello everyone. I was on these threads earlier on in the pandemic and you were all a lifeline for me. I had to step back when there was some upset a couple of weeks ago (?) as I was feeling too fragile to cope with the person who came on and called people selfish for struggling.

I name changed and just wanted to pop on and wave even if you all have no idea who I am Grin

I am doing ok. Much better than I was. I was in a right old state in the first few weeks of the virus. I'm mainly hanging out on the Dementor threads but I wanted to ask how you're all doing too. I have been enjoying being able to get out more. It has helped me so much. How is Henry? I've missed seeing his photos.

Orangeblossom78 · 23/05/2020 14:04

Hi WishingChair (waves)

captainoftheshipwreck · 23/05/2020 15:16

Hi @TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair I think I recognise you! Wink

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 24/05/2020 12:53

Grin How is your drawing going Arcadia? I hope you've done some more.

Hello everyone

How are you all today?

I've had some local asparagus for lunch and I am planning a long walk later. Pfft but I am fed up with this half life.

Orangeblossom78 · 24/05/2020 15:58

I have spent time in the garden and had a walk but feeling guilty DC been on screens much of the day. I did ask and they didn't want to join me however. DH taking them out now. Quite windy but sunny here. I feel the same about the half life though

AssangesCat · 24/05/2020 16:03

Hi people, this is the view from one of our local walks. Only about 30 minutes walk from home and we never used to go there before lockdown.

Been very windy here too! My little plastic greenhouse blew over but fortunately it jus had some freshly planted seeds in and not any of my more established plants

Had a lovely walk with DD and tonight am going to order pizza and play Spyro with DP

UpOnDown · 24/05/2020 19:52

I'm watching reasons to be cheerful by matt lucas, it's harmless and up beat.

Orangeblossom78 · 24/05/2020 20:27

Frosty here between DH and I after bickering earlier. Think it's all just getting to us. He was playing Radiohead and I told him it was too depressing after we dragged the DC to the park yet again. Went off for a walk. I'm missing time to myself I guess and also hormonal.

UpOnDown · 25/05/2020 16:15

Sorry to hear that @Orangeblossom78 Sad I hope your walk helped.

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 25/05/2020 17:42

I think arguments are bound to happen. This is all so stressful.

It's been lovely having some sunshine today. I went and sat by a lovely stream and I had it to myself for a good half an hour. It did me so much good.

Off but social media is a hostile place right now isn't it? I'm trying to get myself off it more.

Orangeblossom78 · 25/05/2020 17:45

Thanks yes it is helpful to get some time alone. I agree. Hope you are doing OK. It is quite hot here, hoping it may cool down a bit.

UpOnDown · 25/05/2020 20:15

I'm really missing seeing family. Sad Sad I know everyone is.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 25/05/2020 22:50

My daughter had to drive for work from one place to another and was passing near here, so she stopped for a cup of tea in our garden in a socially distanced chair and we could at least have a natter for half an hour. I have been used to her being away in other countries for six months at a time, before now, so seeing her at all is always a bit special, and we figured it was within the rules if it was out of doors and eight feet apart.

So that was amazing and lovely, as well as completely unexpected because she didn't mention it as a possibility until she was on the road going past.
