Thinking today is going to be a film day.... although I may get DS waterproofed and take him to look for puddles this afternoon. Thank goodness his wellies were bought a bit big, so they should still fit him.

FeeI a little bit meh this morning, the prospect of being stuck inside our very small house doesn’t appeal. We’re extremely lucky with our outside space, but we bought the house with the intention of eventually extending. But it was always going to be several years down the line that we did that. So it’s a bit of a squeeze at the moment, when you’re stuck in with everyone. I always dread winter for that reason (it’s also a cold house which doesn’t help!) so stepping back weather-wise is always a bit deflating, even without lockdown!

I think I will also try and get DS to make some rainbow art to send to our relatives, if I can get his attention for long enough.

Morning all!
Henry is looking especially cute and fluffy today @Bunnyflop!
Yes the weather is a downer, it's almost like the sunny weather was our compensation for the situation, now it's a bit miserable!
It also means no pavement chats with neighbours.
I slept badly woke early and that tends to mean a bad day for me as I am grumpy and emotional when I'm tired.
Also trying to eat less and that will be hard when stuck inside.
Will have to work extra hard to stay positive today!

Arcadia · 28/04/2020 08:39

The news is positive today if anyone is feeling strong enough to look at it! On the BBC news there is a round up of all the papers front pages and it is positive!
'Hope in sight'.

Benji13 · 28/04/2020 09:24

Henry’s feet 😍😍

It’s pouring here and forecast to all day. Meh!
Dh is going to wash all the paintwork down he says - he’s not good at sitting still.
I’m working at home all day but will squeeze in making a tea loaf - putting the fruit to soak now. Will bake tonight.

Rescue cat Willow is disgusted by the rain. Because she’s a fluff she gets very wet. She’s sat on the window sill glaring at the birds who are eating the seeds of dhs newly seeded lawn 😂

I’ve been cheering myself up by online shopping browsing. Very tempted by some lovely silver Clarke’s flip flop sandals. M & S will deliver today - highlight of the day new nightshirt for me and new pjs which I will take and leave in the porch for my old dad.

purpleme12 · 28/04/2020 09:24

Thanks @Bunnyflop I wish I could stroke him

Arcadia · 28/04/2020 09:43

@Benji13 could you post your tea loaf recipe pleeeaaasse?! I need a new baking idea! I made the banana bread from here (was that you too?) thanks!

chrissieone · 28/04/2020 10:31

My childrens school have now setup more structured online classes (I have been previously trying to cobble together work using the scant resources they have been sending. It is better but I'm now getting asked to help with questions which Carol Vorderman and the whole cast of Eggheads would struggle with ! But may be just me ! Grin

Today's ray of sunshine, I'm expecting a delivery of things including a tub of "the pink stuff" cleaning paste and I'm going to blitz the bathroom tiles. I'm completely over excited at the prospect!

Bunnyflop · 28/04/2020 11:24

I survived Sainsbury’s and came back with garden plants, a lovely bunch of tulips (pictured), a shit load of food and a salted caramel and chocolate ganache for me. Grin

Drove past Homebase on the way back and the had bedding plants out front so maybe I’ll swing by in a few days and buy some!!!

Ooh @Bunnyflop beautiful flowers! I wonder if our local Homebase has reopened? Have they all opened do you know?

Bunnyflop · 28/04/2020 11:47

@arcadia not sure about other branches but I just rang mine to enquire and they said they’ll reserve whatever you want and they also have plants out front for browsing/ buying!!! I’m so excited!!!!

riotlady · 28/04/2020 12:03

@chrissieone oooh let us know how you get on with the pink paste! One of my friends was raving about it

We’ve had a nice morning so far, played with Lego, done some cosmic kids yoga, played in the garden and now DD is knackered and zoning out to Octonauts while I mumsnet for a bit. Got some uni stuff this afternoon and a pub quiz tonight with some friends :)

I’ve also decided a nice easy lockdown project is organising our photos into some RL photo albums, so have ordered a bunch of photos to print. Snapfish currently has 50% off everything if anyone else is doing the same!

Arcadia · 28/04/2020 12:04

@Bunnyflop brilliant, I've dragged out my old window boxes that I haven't had time to plant up in recent years and get them planted up and out the front !

Bunnyflop · 28/04/2020 12:13

@arcadia yay! Be sure to post a pic when they’re done!

@Pinkarsedfly the seeds came this morning. Can’t thank you enough, you rock x

My Homebase isn't on the list ☹️

Arcadia · 28/04/2020 12:33

I'll order via local shop but will be a few weeks I imagine.

Bunnyflop · 28/04/2020 12:44

Do you have a Sainsbury’s near you @arcadia? Mine had various garden plants and bulbs in this morning, even hydrangeas.

OP posts:
Arcadia · 28/04/2020 12:49

@Bunnyflop I have one fairly close but further away than Homebase, I'll see what I can do. Won't be able to drag DD away from Skyping her friends today anyway!

DianneWhatcock · 28/04/2020 12:51

@purpleme12 how are you today lovely? X

Pinkarsedfly · 28/04/2020 13:41

Glad they’ve arrived, Bunnyflop!

They took a while!

Asgoodasarest · 28/04/2020 13:53

Glad to hear everyone is doing ok today. I hope you feel a little brighter too @purpleme12? I’ve done my exercise and housework already which is a great achievement as if I don’t do it first thing it doesn’t happen. It means I can relax a bit (well as much as you can with small children) and take the afternoon as it comes.

Arcadia · 28/04/2020 14:29

I agree @Asgoodasarest, I try to get exercise and a bit of housework done first so even if I collapse into a bit of a heap in the afternoon at least I've 'achieved' something!

tobee · 28/04/2020 16:48

Bunnyflop ahh with these pictures of Henry's butt you are spoiling us! Grin

I was just admiring your colour coordinated bunny and carpet! Which did you get first? Grin Say it was Henry and you scouted about for a suitable carpet!

Noooblerooble · 28/04/2020 17:09

The bunny butt photo cheered me up so much!! Thank you

Today has been good but I have hit a sad point tonight too. I'm still so full of anxiety about getting through the next year. I have decided I am going to spend the evening learning how to use some new watercolour pens. I've no idea what to do with them but I want to learn to draw. I think a good bit of colouring in will cheer me right up.

Asgoodasarest · 28/04/2020 17:19

I keep remembering something that came up on the first thread. I believe it was an Irish guy in Wuhan and he said something like he wasn’t going to worry about getting the Virus as if he did, he would’ve suffered twice. I may have misquoted a bit (and if anyone else remembers do correct me!) but the was the idea. When I can feel myself sinking I try and remind myself of this and to try and focus on something I can do and enjoy.
