Something doesn't add up

So we had a 3 week lockdown, now we have another 3 week lockdown. So how come that adds up to a 7 week lockdown? Do they think we can't add up, do they think it sounds better to pretend we have had 2 x 3 weeks or what.

1forsorrow ok in this instance they are not trying to rewrite history. I haven’t seen a single member of government say ‘lockdown will be lifted on the 11th May, which makes 6 weeks total’. Any confusion over dates is yours.

NeverTwerkNaked · 17/04/2020 11:22

Lockdown is going to be a lot longer than 6 (or 7) weeks anyway

jasjas1973 · 17/04/2020 11:24

Who has had a 2 month lockdown?

RiftGibbon · 17/04/2020 11:42

Are you expecting clarity from a Government who seem to have had no proper strategies in place?
Why they can't say, "We will review lockdown on XX date, with an update provided by XX time"? Would be clear and inarguable then.

MintyMabel · 17/04/2020 11:47

Wasn't there a week in between where they said there wouldn't be an update?

perniciousdot · 17/04/2020 11:49

This does not matter.

Littlemeadow123 · 17/04/2020 11:53

It's another three weeks, starting from yesterday, which brings us to 6.5 weeks of lockdown. However, businesses probably won't open until the following monday so it will essentially be 7 weeks before we start seeing things start to change.

Or it could be extended again. Raab said ‘at least 3 weeks’ extension.

Littlemeadow123 · 17/04/2020 11:58

So 7th of May is the possible date for lockdown being lifted. There will be a transition (8th,9th,10th) between lockdown being lifted and businesses opening up again. They will need those three days to get everything sorted ready for staff to resume work and give people to get their heads back in the game after weeks off.

The 7th of May just hypothetical at the moment anyway. It's really not worth all of this thought over whether its 6 weeks, 6.5 weeks or 7 weeks.

Littlemeadow123 · 17/04/2020 12:00

@HoffiCoffi13

Yeah I was just talking hypothetically, about what would happen if we can lift lockdown on the 7th. How it would mean this has been a 7 week lockdown and not a six week one.

Cornettoninja · 17/04/2020 12:28

I don’t think it was quite a week but I got the impression it was due to Boris’s absence.

raviolidreaming · 17/04/2020 12:31

11 May is the date lockdown has been extended to inFrance

Well noted!
