Struggling without a garden.

Those with gardens, I envy you so much at the moment. I'm also still having to go to work in a hospital. In the days off and it's been sunny, I've been so desperate to get out! It's so fucking hard to cope with this when you have an apartment and no way to enjoy eating outdoors etc.

Totally agree! I live in an apartment, and I’m absolutely hating it. I am so, so jealous of everyone with a garden. So much so, that I’m going to move as soon as all this is over. Just wish I could move right this second!

yep, i've had to come off looking at people stories on facebook or insta as its all gardens and prosecco!

I really sympathise with those that don’t have a garden, it must be so hard. I use to live in a 3rd floor flat with no outside space at all and that was horrible so it must be a 1000x worse in lock down. If it makes you feel any better my neighbours are a complete night mare so I’ve barely been using the garden because they are out there all day every day blaring music and shouting and screaming. The good weather (apart from today) doesn’t help, do you have a balcony?

You have my full sympathy. Every time I start to feel low about this awful situation, I remind myself how difficult it must be without any outside space. I hope you can get out for a walk. X

Me too. I have been going to the park twice a week, but really wish I had my own patch of outside space.

Flat dweller here. Going out for a walk goes some way to help but it's nothing like relaxing in your own space. We have a small communal garden in my block but the downstairs neighbours are arseholes so I don't fancy sitting outside their lounge window. I'm spending a lot of time hanging out the window.

At least ds gets out for some exercise and fresh air when at school

I think having a garden or not is one of the biggest factors influencing our well being under lockdown.

I hope people with gardens sit back for a moment and think about that. It's easy to forget what you have sometimes.

I really sympathise and understand as I remember the days when i was in a flat. I will never take my little garden for granted and it has been the best thing that is helping my family get through. I am sorry for anyone having to endure this without outdoor space. 💐

Another flat dweller here. It's been depressing for sure. My window overlooks neighbours with gardens and I've been trying not to see them on hot days sunbathing, playing with their pets below while I'm stuck inside, trying not to hear them even though I have to have the window open as it's been so warm. I've been gagging for some fresh air & sun on my skin, and I've been to the park a couple of times but I hate having to get dressed these days (think I've become lazy!) & it's a good 20 minute walk - I'd love to be in my pyjamas outside, drinking tea in the mornings. Gaaah.

I’m really sorry for those of you in flats. My friend in a flat says he’s putting it up for sale as soon as this is over!

We don’t live in a flat, but we only have a small yard outside our house and it’s not big enough for anything.
We take our 18 month old out everyday for a long walk, we live rurally, so in that way we are lucky. I do hate that we can’t have a paddling pool, swing, slide etc for him. Which I was fortunate enough to have growing up.

And I’ll be finding a house with a garden as soon as this is over. Although they’re not common around here.

My husband I were discussing this the other day. It’s become popular around here to have new builds with tiny gardens. I wonder if bigger gardens will be in demand now? (Not massive!)

Anyone in a flat using their communal green space? Is this allowed? DP is shielded and so hasn't even been out for walks. Feel sorry for him cooped up. I want to get some garden recliners (if there is any left).

Yes zone 2 flat dweller here, only place to walk is the streets, but are still full of people hanging around I only go out for a 20 min walk per day. At least I'm not furloughed so I still work from home Monday to Friday, I'm not a fan of work but at least that has kept me sane

Would you anyone else be using the space? If so I wouldn't use it with a DH who is shielding. The point is to absolutely minimise contact for his protection.

Am using my communal garden. Tbh I have more space than 90% of Londoners with gardens..if you had the kind of space i do, that house would not cost a dime below £3 million

My garden is quite small, about 30 feet by 20. However it’s big enough for a table and chairs, a small pond, pots to grow flowers and lettuce type things, and a patch of grass.

I am very grateful for it.
