Do you clap in your pjs?

Or make an effort to stay dressed once a week??

I sleep naked but don't see a problem with being in pjs or dressing gown.

I'll be clapping from loft window but neighbours chat to us from down below.

longtimemarried · 16/04/2020 17:59

I also am in my pjs by 6.00pm, am retired so I do what I want when I want, I do clap but from an upstairs window, like to join in.

pigsDOfly · 16/04/2020 18:05

If I were clapping I would be in my clothes not pyjamas, pyjamas are nightwear and for me night starts when I get into bed.

I would go out and clap, if that's what people were doing, but the combined noise of the fireworks, horns, screaming and banging on pots and pans is all too much, I'm afraid.

pinklillie · 16/04/2020 18:05

Imfinallyamummy I'm the same. I get changed in to lounge wear/pjs after my bath about 7ish but I also don't sleep in them. I wouldn't get dressed in to normal clothes after my bath it would feel odd. I was debating whether I should put a bra on to clap though!

Rosalie49 · 16/04/2020 18:09

This thread is hilarious.

I also can’t believe how big of a deal this is to some.

In my opinion, wether you choose to wear your pj’s all day, from 6pm, 8pm or when you go to sleep - it’s your choice and your life! Do what you want to do. I clap from the window, as do many other neighbours so I’ll wear whatever I have on at that time. However, I have also seen the majority of my street wearing their pj’s to put bins out etc - it’s no big deal where I live.

Yesterdayforgotten · 16/04/2020 18:12

@Fidgety31 'why would I have my pyjamas on at 20:00?'

If you have toddlers and babies and are sleep deprived having been up since the crack of dawn it is very easy believe me!

Pinkblueberry · 16/04/2020 18:15

I only clapped the first week. We live in a house that’s at the end of the street with no front door opposite so no one can see us anyway - we stoop in our door to clap not right outside. But then having said that I put the bins out in my pjs so it shouldn’t matter really...

JemimaPuddleCat · 16/04/2020 18:15

Nope, I clap naked.

FOTTFSOFTFOASM · 16/04/2020 18:18

I don't possess any "PJ"s, and I will not be clapping.

mangomama91 · 16/04/2020 18:18

Yes I do. I get home from work on a Thursday, have a shower and get in my pjs so I go out in mine

Useryokyesno · 16/04/2020 18:21

I don't clap because I don't do performance politics. I know that some of my street will have voted Tory I can't bear the hipocracy. I know it's about the workers themselves rather than the gov. But you can't vaule the NHS that much if you've voted Tory. My mum works for the NHS and I've had various treatment and will have an op when I can. So I value it massively. I just feel really uncomfortable with the clapping. I know lot of people who voted Labour will clap but for me it just provides the opportunity to act like you haven't voted for a part who have been awful for NHS.

If I were clapping I'd def do it in pj's if I was wearing them.

millionaireshortie · 16/04/2020 18:22

I'm surprised about the people who would never be in PJs at 8pm. One of my kids has always got up at 5am so to get 8 hours sleep, which I really need, I need to be fast asleep by 9pm which means every day I'm in my PJs, teeth cleaned and face washed by 8pm! Do you ladies not have kids???

ImfinallyaMummy · 16/04/2020 18:23

Aren't some people just bloody rude. Like it's a crime to ask a lighthearted question, god anyone would think this was an open forum!!! 🤦🏻‍♀️

This thread is really judgy about people who wear pyjamas in the evening. Imagine getting uppity about a stranger's comfort. Odd.

Ginfordinner · 16/04/2020 18:35

Why millionaire?
I think it is generational. Even when DD was a toddler I would still be dressed at 8pm, especially during BST.

I am ancient Grin

PumpkinP · 16/04/2020 18:35

I don’t clap

Ginfordinner · 16/04/2020 18:36

DD is 19 BTW.

namechangemania · 16/04/2020 18:37

I’ll be in my pjs and I won’t be clapping nor would I be clapping if I was fully dressed.

Working 6 long-days weeks at the moment and if I want to be in my pjs on the sofa by 8pm I bloody well will Grin

I don’t work quite as long as that, but my job is pretty stressful and tiring. From other similar comments I’m getting the vibe that all these sanctimonious people who would never be in their pjs by eight don’t have particularly stressful or tiring jobs - anyone who’s worked hard during the day surely just wants to get comfy ASAP after getting home.

Ginfordinner · 16/04/2020 18:47

I'm not being sanctimonious at all. Anyone can wear PJs whenever they like. When I had a really stressful job in the 1980s and 90s I still wouldn't be in PJs at this time at this time of year. It just feels wrong for me.

I genuinely think it is generational.

Charlottejade89 · 16/04/2020 18:55

I finished nights this morning working g for the nhs since been in my pjs all day. In always in them as soon as I put my dd to bed as well, who wants to chill out and watch tv with Jean's on

FOTTFSOFTFOASM · 16/04/2020 19:00

Oh God, Ginfordinner. I have a horrible feeling that you are right, and that we are officially old (my DC are 15-18)

I was a SAHM the whole time mine were small, and I still wouldn't have been in nightwear at that time of the evening. XH and I used to eat, fully dressed, sitting at the table after the children had had "children's tea" and gone to bed. My own bedtime ritual was quick bath, teeth, nightie, book, sleep. I don't think I've ever owned a pair of pyjamas slightly misses the point

PilatesPeach · 16/04/2020 19:02

Clapping in my nightie - like to get the air moving freely which I cannot do in PJs Grin

Ginger1982 · 16/04/2020 19:03

I would only be in pjs at that time if I had been out at work and then come home and got washed and into pjs after DS was in bed. Being at home all day I just stay in my clothes until I go to bed now.
