When do you think lockdown will be relaxed?

Ireland have given a date of 3rd May, France 11 May. What about us?

And which rules do you think will be relaxed first? Personally, I am really hoping they allow slightly larger groups of people to meet (I.e friends and family). I'm not too bothered about pubs and restaurants but I'm really missing seeing family & friends.

I really hope it's 3rd May for us (providing necessary criteria are met).

I think end of May

namechangenumber2 · 14/04/2020 15:07

I think end of May, it'll be a very slow process though, but I'm hoping we'll be able to visit family and small groups of friends

virginpinkmartini · 14/04/2020 15:07

I think mid to end of May. Optimistic but realistic.

You'll probably get loads of responses saying the likes of 'the 59th of NEVER' or 'January 2021 is when they will think about relaxing things,' not because they really believe it, but because they are harbingers of doom lol

fonziesthumb · 14/04/2020 15:10

Lots of things are cancelled up until the autumn so I don't expect to see any significant relaxation until then. We might be allowed to go to some select shops, perhaps have small private gatherings but I can't see things like cinemas, bars or restaurants reopening at the end of May and I think working from home will still be the norm.

Petiolaris · 14/04/2020 15:12

Around 4th May. Vulnerable and elderly will still need to isolate until late June. Lots of people will still avoid going out. Schools will not go back. But shops and workplaces will reopen. For a while anyway - by September we’ll be locked down again.

parietal · 14/04/2020 15:12

i hope schools manage to re-open mid May, and maybe small shops and small gatherings. but even if they relax lockdown for a bit, they might re-impose it later if things get bad again.

I reckon big gatherings won't be back until we have a vaccine or a very good testing regime, so 6 months to a year.

CupOfTeaNonBio · 14/04/2020 15:12

In another 6 weeks or so. But I think it'll only be partial - more work allowed, allowed to visit family in small groups- but no socialising in larger groups, pubs etc, and probably without schools reopening.

Icanflyhigh · 14/04/2020 15:19

I'm working to approx 6 weeks til any of the lockdown is lifted....
And then really slow lifting.
No pubs clubs or schools etc until end July/August at the earliest.

celan · 14/04/2020 15:22

As soon as humanly possible. Please.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 14/04/2020 15:28

I would imagine pubs, cafés etc will be the last to open.
Other shops I would imagine will operate a similar policy to the supermarkets letting a few in at a time.
If be very surprised if schools go back sooner than September.
End of May at the earliest before any relaxation though.

LindainLockdown · 14/04/2020 15:31

Probably mid to end of May, can't see how we can get back to work if schools are still off so think kids will be returning also.

LindainLockdown · 14/04/2020 15:33

I think it would be very foolish to wait until September, heading into autumn, and don't think govt are that stupid thankfully.

fourpeasinapod · 14/04/2020 15:33

I heard it might be January next year. So a long time yet

cologne4711 · 14/04/2020 15:36

I'm predicting May 10th after the early May bank holiday. Although the Times is saying 3 weeks from Thursday. I don't think so because that would let people out in time for the bank holiday weekend. Once the bank holiday weekend is out of the way they can start to relax some of the restrictions. So 4 weeks to go.

cologne4711 · 14/04/2020 15:37

Yeah right. It was 7 weeks in China. Why would we need 10 months? Ludicrous scare-mongering.

fourpeasinapod · 14/04/2020 15:39

@cologne4711 I don’t know. I did say that I had heard it

nutellalove · 14/04/2020 15:40

Early June because we are a few weeks behind France etc

depressedindoors · 14/04/2020 15:41

Beginning of May.

LolaLollypop · 14/04/2020 15:45

I agree with PP who said it will probably be after the bank holiday. They won't risk us all flooding out on a possibly sunny weekend.

I reckon 11th May for the first level of relaxed rules. Perhaps being allowed to visit friends and family etc. Some people being allowed back to work.

Mid-end May for schools to reopen, depending on how the initial relaxation goes.

I don't think everything will be back to "normal" for months.

End of may esp because of the bank holidays which might make people more reckless.
Schools maybe June but not holding to much hope for that.

AgentCooper · 14/04/2020 15:48

Just waiting for the first person to come along and say May.

God you can see the smug looks on the faces

fourpeasinapod · 14/04/2020 15:50

January. This will take its toll.

LucheroTena · 14/04/2020 15:52

For the young and healthy I hope it would end now. In reality it’ll be another month.

LucheroTena · 14/04/2020 15:53

January Grin do fuck off. Can you imagine the state of the country? We’d all be dead from poverty. My hair is bad enough, I’m not waiting until January for a haircut.

DartmoorChef · 14/04/2020 15:54

Im hoping fisheries are amongst the first to reopen. Its our only hobby and as everyone is outdoors and spaced out by a good 6 meters if not more then im hoping they will be allowed to open even if the tackle shop isnt.
