How many are still going out to work?

DD works in a shop

I have two jobs, school and pharmacy/store, so I'm working 50% at the moment

DH totally working from home.

So as a family, 50% of our work is still away from home. Trying to give DD a lift to avoid buses.

3 working adults and a student here
I am working full time still but from home
DD is in hospitality and furloughed
DH is a keyworker (not frontline NHS) and is going to his place of work 2-3 days per week, usually goes 5 days, he has enough work to go in everyday but the need to be socially distant is considered too important. He can do a limited amount from home.
So less than 1/3 going out to work here.
If I go further into my family each with 2 working adults, out of 8, 5 are furloughed, 2 working from home ft and one frontline NHS.
Same with friends I know very few people who are going out of the home to work, and certainly not as often as they did pre pandemic

Nope, i've lost all my work.
DS2 is working from home in IT, but everyone else i know is either Self Employed in the arts sector (gone) and now buggered, or in non essential retail (now closed) or hospitality (now closed)

Civil servant working directly on COVID response. Most of my colleagues are in the office half of the time but I am pregnant so staying at home. Even briefings with ministers are done on teleconference now.

2/3 of my household are still going out to work (not key-workers)
1/3 WFH
All on full wages & hopefully our jobs are reasonably secure, but we will see.

I haven't seen one non essential let alone "a lot".
Which ones?

I’d say me, supplying florists isn’t essential in my opinion.

Jellycatfox · 13/04/2020 09:24

DH, gardener. I am on maternity leave but my colleagues are not working as place is shut.

maddy68 · 13/04/2020 09:29

Yes me. Teacher this should also be my holiday

FishOnPillows · 13/04/2020 09:31

I work in pharmaceutical manufacturing. I’m managing to wfh 1-2 days a week, but have to go on into the labs/office the rest of the week.

Abreadsandwich · 13/04/2020 09:42

My DH works in a non essential job but is self employed. He works alone and is not seeing customers and clients.

ifowaa · 13/04/2020 10:00

My job and the job of my flat mate is non-essential, but we have been told we can go to work if we can't WFH by the government.
This lockdown will have to end soon, with the vulnerable remaining to shield until there is a vaccine.

Yes, work for local authority so we have all been redeployed in to different roles to help in the effort.
It's not ideal but it's what we've got to do. I'm mixing with far more people than I'd like to be and social distancing instead always possible.
