How many are still going out to work?

DD works in a shop

I have two jobs, school and pharmacy/store, so I'm working 50% at the moment

DH totally working from home.

So as a family, 50% of our work is still away from home. Trying to give DD a lift to avoid buses.

Yes... Work in a lab that is deemed an essential service. They have furlough Ed about half our company but there are only 2 in my team so had to keep both of us on.

Jozen · 12/04/2020 16:40

Yes, HCP gone from part time to (over) full time in last few weeks.
DH still working - ship loading operations.

crazydiamond222 · 12/04/2020 16:47

No, OH is working in IT role from home and I am on maternity leave.

I am quite surprised at the proportion of households on here that are still going out to work. I wonder how representative it is of the population overall.

Femail · 12/04/2020 16:51

Me I work in a supermarket and pleased to be able to go out

Aleciahartismyhero · 12/04/2020 16:52

We are, husband nhs on wards (not Covid ones yet tho) and I’m a teacher so only out of house one day a fortnight for work on site but wfh rest of time

ilovedjerrymore · 12/04/2020 16:54

Construction - whole family still going out to work. Nothing changed in the construction world for us, if anything we are busier then ever!

teaandajammydodger · 12/04/2020 16:58

Yes I’m a teacher on a rota so in school providing childcare one week in every three. WFH the other weeks.

DH is full time WFH.

Sounsociable · 12/04/2020 16:58

DH is self employed. (non essential) He hasn't worked since lock down but is thinking of going to work sometime this week. He works in a shared workspace but no one else has been in.

bigbluebus · 12/04/2020 17:01

DH works for a charity supporting vulnerable people so although the service they offer is very much reduced they are doing what they can via technology. Most staff have been furloughed but a handful are still working and are manning the office/wfh on a rota so there are only 3 or 4 in at any one time. I only do voluntary work which has now stopped.

catfeets · 12/04/2020 17:02

My whole family are still working. I would be in the office if I wasn't on maternity leave (civil servant). DP is in emergency services so working as normal.
My dad is a transport worker and people he works with have started dying of Coronavirus now (not the reported London workers on the news), other family in nhs and delivery services.

Seriouslyastounded · 12/04/2020 17:02

I work for an online shop. Sending products out for florists. Busier than we’ve ever been.

VivLevy · 12/04/2020 17:05

Yes both DH and I working NHS, both clinicians
Teenager still working his part time job- weekend retail.

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 12/04/2020 17:05

Mental health nurse here, obviously still working. DP is a health care assistant in the same unit so also still working. No covid in our unit yet but we are the only unit in the trust with no cases so it's only a matter of time.

MigginsMs · 12/04/2020 17:06

Government need to enforce the essential items only rule as its driving thousands out unnecessarily

There isn’t such a rule so they’ll need to create one before they can enforce it. Given the government have said they want business to continue I doubt it will happen.

I am wfh, husband furloughed as his place of work has been closed by the government.

Lulu1919 · 12/04/2020 17:07

Yes ..TA in middle of our three week school holidays I worked first week ,had this week off, and I'm back again Tuesday !

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 12/04/2020 17:08

Yes

Management in mental health unit (all managing far better that we probably expected) now healthcare assistant too Confused (unofficially)

Plump82 · 12/04/2020 18:21

I work in a bank so still working. My partner is an electrician. We're in Scotland so construction so he's not been working since the Monday after lockdown was announced. I'm hoping his furlough goes ahead as he hasn't heard much from his employer about it.

gamerchick · 12/04/2020 18:25

Yep, both me and husband. While juggling kid.

Shitloads of overtime though. It's like the twilight zone.

ScrapThatThen · 12/04/2020 18:35

Me NHS mental health working on a rota basis from home or office full time and now on a new on call service so hours going up. DH civil service working full time from home.

MichaelBoobins · 12/04/2020 18:36

Me, care home domestic.

PristineCondition · 12/04/2020 18:41

Yep, corner shop worker.
Dp is a furloughed boiler man but due back end of April i think.

tulipsrus · 12/04/2020 18:47

No-one on our extended family of 10

yearinyearout · 12/04/2020 18:50

I'm not but my DS is, he isn't even a key worker. Job can't be done from home so unless the company decide to shut up shop he has to go in. That said, they are all spread out in different rooms so I don't feel he's at any health risk by being at work as he has no contact with anyone.

flowerycurtain · 12/04/2020 18:51

Farmer. I stay at home to work anyway!! Our 8 employees and 20 or so contractors (building work) are all still working.

BrandyandBabycham · 12/04/2020 18:57

I could go into work as The Range has been classed as an essential store but I don’t want to take the risk. Apparently people are using the store being open as a jolly & taking the absolute piss. I won’t get into trouble or lose my job but really missing my wages 😥
