How many are still going out to work?

DD works in a shop

I have two jobs, school and pharmacy/store, so I'm working 50% at the moment

DH totally working from home.

So as a family, 50% of our work is still away from home. Trying to give DD a lift to avoid buses.

Schmoana · 12/04/2020 19:56

I’m very happy and feel very safe to be homeworking. But there are a lot of non-essential workers on this thread that are being forced to carry on working. Due to the UK govt policy of keeping as much open as possible. This is why we are now forecast to have the highest death rate in Europe.

coronarona · 12/04/2020 20:10

Yes. I work in security for a naice supermarket. Workload has dropped by 90% and I'm loosing the will.

alltripe · 12/04/2020 20:17

Me, NHS clinician. I live alone, DP is working from his own home, god knows when I will see him again.

EricaNernie · 12/04/2020 20:20

whatalifethisis · 12/04/2020 20:23

Me, deputy ,manager in a care home...only thing keeping me sane

jaggynettle · 12/04/2020 20:24

Am a nurse manager - still working although am lucky to snatch a couple of days working from home to watch DD8. My other half is a Gas engineer - he's still working too. Childcare is difficult but we are in a better position than lots of folk so can't really complain

EricaNernie · 12/04/2020 20:24

who is non essential on this thread in your opinion @schmoana

BW68 · 12/04/2020 20:28

I’m home working but busy and son out working

thecatneuterer · 12/04/2020 20:33

I will (as soon as I'm over the virus) - animal rescue (voluntary, for a charity).

Tumbleweed101 · 12/04/2020 20:33

Yes, nursery child care for key workers.

Goonergirl14 · 12/04/2020 20:34

Me, I am a Civil Servant working in an office not open to the public and have a second job working in food sales so busier than usual.

delilahbucket · 12/04/2020 20:35

I work from home anyway. Dp works in a bank, operating on one week on one week off and reduced opening hours.

Redwinestillfine · 12/04/2020 20:38

Yup, both me and DH. He's a key worker and I am juggling working from home with homeschooling.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 12/04/2020 20:42

I'm working fully time hours plus extra as a nurse in an inpatient mental health ward.
It's stressful and I am overworked (even more so than normal) but I do like the opportunity to get out and have a change of scenery.

GenderApostate19 · 12/04/2020 20:44

DH is, he’s an engineer in a food factory.
DD is a Teacher and is WFH, she’d literally just gone back from mat leave when it all kicked off , I gave up work to take care of DGS, bloody glad I did tbh, the place I worked was a plague pit at the best of times.
Her Fiance is working in IT security, most are wfh, just him and another manager are going in to keep the servers running.
Dsil is working pt on a rota in a private nursery and Dbil is wfh.

Millicent10 · 12/04/2020 20:46

I am at work at a local authority, my role is non-essential but we have been told to continue working (obeying social distancing) as the rule is go to work unless you can work from home (which you can’t in my role). We are paid from the public purse and have been told there is no way we can stay at home not working. Fair enough, there are obviously a lot of colleagues that are there as key workers.

ilovebagpuss · 12/04/2020 20:48

I am still working admin in a care home deemed essential due to payroll and staffing roster support. DH is a self employed gardener and is still working a few days a week as he works in isolation at a few sites.
