@porcupineinwaiting do you take the tablet form and how often/how many? Very envious it’s working!

eyebrowsofinstagram · 09/04/2020 16:02

Hi there, I've been a lurker of these threads but now will join properly as I'm on day 18 and symptoms still fluctuating but getting me worried.

It's an extreme temperature which has come on in the last 3 days. I spoke to my GP yesterday which really reassured me, but I'm still getting really knocked down and not really recovering, despite thinking I'm on the mend in the past.

I'm also desperately worried about my partner who has some illness in the past and we're more worried about his lungs.

We seem to have had a really strong dose of it.

I'm just about to start with extreme positive thinking- it's worked for me in the past, and seems to be all I've got up my sleeve except for paracetamol.

Porcupineinwaiting · 09/04/2020 16:05

@EMichel102 yes tablets work for me but liquid is better if you can get it. If neither of those work, you could ask your gp for omeprazole (I'm a long term sufferer).

findingschools4myboys · 09/04/2020 16:07

Day 30 here! I haven’t been on for couple of days as I have been so much better! I am like day and night compared to 3 days ago. I was able to walk for over 2 hours today without catching my breath!!

Want to make sure you all see a positive story (so far!) as its often the case that when people aren’t feeling well they will come on to the internet and write and share but then when better you don’t hear from them. (Hence you find more scary stories online when googling anything)

We are all getting there!

EMichel102 · 09/04/2020 16:08

@porcupineinwaiting thank you - do you take the gaviscon multiple times a day? It says up for 4x a day up to 4 tablets is ok but seems a lot!

Porcupineinwaiting · 09/04/2020 16:14

I'm taking it twice a day but honestly you can pop it like sweeties. Its one of the few things that's completely safe in pregnancy and I was chugging it like mad back then.

Porcupineinwaiting · 09/04/2020 16:15

@findingschools4myboys thank you! This I need to hear.

longshot · 09/04/2020 16:16

@findingschools4myboys thank you so much for posting! I know we are the same length through and I’m struggling again but hoping it’s a secondary infection and I can back out walking soon! It’s really good to hear you are feeling much better as gives me hope this is just a blip!

To all others I spoke to my friend who is a Gp, she said they’re seeing more and more people following this long drawn out trajectory. Things to look for (even at this stage) are:

Increased shortness of breath
Decreased urine output
Severe / increased chest pain

She said if my antibiotics haven’t started to work tomorrow she would push to be seen and for blood test so I will do that if needed.

She said everyone should have access to a GP now whether by video or in person at covid unit. We all should still be able to get blood tests / have someone listen to our chest at a centre or usual GP wearing PPE. I thought this was worth sharing.

NotAnotherUserNumber · 09/04/2020 16:20

Hi everyone, sorry to read so many people are having this lasting infection, but it was reassuring to know that I am not alone in this. I am on day 32 of covid symptoms (I felt rubbish for a few days before this but I am measuring from when my temp went over 38).

I am just so sick of this and want it to end. I know it could be so much worse and we are very lucky not to need to be in hospital, but 32 days of being feverish, hardly able to stand and all the rest of the symptoms is really beginning to get me down. I am sure you all understand.

pinkoneblueone · 09/04/2020 16:21

Thank you @longshot My husband’s chest pain has got worse and my breathlessness came on yesterday I am on day 4 of my antibiotics as is my husband. I will get him to call about his tomorrow all my oxometer readings are actually not bad so I can relax a little knowing that despite how it may feel as I am dropping off to sleep.

onlinelinda · 09/04/2020 16:22

I've spoken with my own doctor this afternoon and been given a course of two separate antibiotics to take together. The NHS at GP level round here has been stunning.

user34254356 · 09/04/2020 16:38

@Longshot that is really helpful info from your GP friend. I am going to push for bloods tomorrow then and also see if I can be seen. I am more keen for a chest x-ray. We don't have a covid centre in our area but not sure if GP will see me either in PPE.

user34254356 · 09/04/2020 16:39

@findingschools4myboys it is really good to hear a positive story. Was it a bit of an overnight change for you? What was the most long lasting symptom in your case ie the one you got rid of last?

Wrybread · 09/04/2020 16:42

I'm new to this thread but I'm on day 31/32 (can't quite remember).

Still tired, sore throat and temperature. The cough is just occasional now. But my breathing (peak flow) still isn't quite as good as it was. And I now have to take preventer inhalers. Had bad backache last night out of the blue and been generally achey today.

I did have to take antibiotics from about day 10 when I got a chest infection and the glands in my face got infected too.

musicposy · 09/04/2020 16:52

baroqueandblue you must be right where DD was living for 3 years when she went to performing arts school. Her flat was facing the thames but was also spitting distance from QE. She had a couple of outpatient dealings with them and found them better resourced and offering more services than our local hospital, and although they are rated much lower than our local one was quite impressed. I actually quite miss visiting her up there - it was so bustling and vibrant!

longshot on day 31 I don’t think I could walk up two flights of stairs, possibly if I really pushed myself. I could do one now without to much breathlessness (an improvement!) but my heart still seems to think I’ve just done 1/2 an hour on the treadmill...
I’m reassured to read that the crazy heart thing seems common at this stage.

EMichel102 · 09/04/2020 16:55

Welcome @Wrybread
Is anyone still getting migraine like headaches? I’ve come down with one the past few afternoons / evenings with heightened sensitivity to noise. That, heartburn, and the fatigue seem to be the worst aspects for me (aside from my bad nights!)

EMichel102 · 09/04/2020 16:57

Oh and still zero appetite!

mumlurker · 09/04/2020 16:58

@findingschools4myboys

Thanks for signing back to share that! I can remember you were having a really rubbish time in some of the earlier threads, so this is really reassuring. Do you feel like the virus is finally.gone?

mumlurker · 09/04/2020 16:59

@EMichel102

Headaches, nausea and the heart palpitations have been my most long lasting symptoms. And fatigue that makes me feel like there are weights pulling me down into the bed.

AnythingPecan · 09/04/2020 17:00

@EMichel102 try to force yourself to have small regular meals. Heartburn is awful on an empty stomach. Trust me - I've suffered with it for years. The lack of eating is probably contributing to your headaches also. Drink lots of water.

longshot · 09/04/2020 17:01

@musicposy you must have been so unwell. Am I right that you’re also quite young and have no underlying conditions? I apologise if I have that wrong, I find it hard to keep track a bit and my brain is not working properly! I think people seem really shocked I’m ‘still’ Ill as I’m ‘only 38’ and ‘I’m really fit and healthy’ it’s knocked for six!

musicposy · 09/04/2020 17:08

longshot I wish I was quite young Grin but sadly quite old (53) and have some underlying conditions, mainly autoimmune. I think that’s why it’s taking a long time. Having said that, in the months leading up to this I was fit and active and used to go to the gym regularly with my DD and also take weekly classes - something I’m very, very grateful for now. It’s scary how quickly you lose it!

I fully understand brain not working and struggling to keep up! I can’t hold a single intelligent thought in my head at the moment.

mumlurker · 09/04/2020 17:11

@longshot

I'm 36 and prior to this, very fit and active. Amazed how much it's thrown me.

findingschools4myboys · 09/04/2020 17:13

Hello 👋🏻
@longshot - great news what your GP has said. I think lots of people are left with post viral stuff that need antibiotics with the standard cold so I am not surprised if many need it with this terrible virus!
@mumlurker
I sure hope the virus has gone! I do think my last symptoms was more post viral related. (The labyrinthitis and sinusitis part)
@user34254356
Yes, almost overnight! Although it was still slightly gradual. My breathlessness (that has disappeared at some point but came back but just not as bad phases out completely two days ago) my labyrinthitis has taken 2,5 weeks to pretty much go. I barely feel any heaviness anymore and I think last night was the first night I have not had it while lying down. I am feeling quite exhausted now though, but have done 500% more stuff today than even 3 days ago so think I might have gone overboard. But not tired like I have to go to bed for sleep (although I would love to) more like I need to chill on sofa for a bit.
So for me the final 3 symptoms to disappear in this order is breathlessness, labyrinthitis, fatigue (not totally gone!)
@Porcupineinwaiting
My pleasure! I know sharing a good ending is something that would have made me feel better.

EMichel102 · 09/04/2020 17:14

@AnythingPecan thank you I’ll try to eat more frequently.

@mumlurker I think we’re kindred spirits - have the same feelings there. By heart palpitations you mean you notice your heartbeat stronger in your body right? My heartbeat isn’t missing beats or anything, just very pronounced!
