Anyone not going outside for exercise?

Is anyone not going outside for their permitted daily exercise?

Every day without fail
It’s glorious
The children get a real run around and I rejuvenate

3rdTrimester · 08/04/2020 19:51

I've not crossed the door in over 3 weeks. I'm 30 weeks pregnant and too anxious to leave the house.

Chochito · 08/04/2020 19:52

Where I am it is not permitted. Typically, I run every morning, and go to the gym every evening, and run for longer once or twice at the weekends, I also play sport on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and swim on Mondays. I am making do with workouts of my own creation and on social media. I don't have a mat so anything involving going on knees is a bit painful! It can be tough to get started with home workouts (I live alone and have good days and less good days, emotionally), but once I've started then it's quite fun.

Snaleandthewhail · 08/04/2020 19:54

I’m not.

I have a family member in a country which has a stricter lockdown and a motto “is your trip out worth dying for”.

Our garden is big enough to kick a ball in (about 15 paces square) I’m doing daily exercise of some sort or another. One fewer person on the streets means more space for everyone else.

Ronnie27 · 08/04/2020 19:56

Most days but not every day. We have a decent garden with a trampoline and a treadmill and Wattbike etc in the garage so dh and I can mostly train indoors and only head out if the kids fancy a ride / walk.

NoParticularPattern · 08/04/2020 19:57

We are just at home. Although I think it’s probably cheating since “home” is a farm. That said I’ve not been out of the garden but it’s far safer there for the kids then kicking about on the farm.

Blackbirdblue30 · 08/04/2020 19:57

I can’t go. I’d love to, but my street connects two main roads, both of which are filled with panting spraying fucking joggers. I’ve tried and it’s not worth the risk.

midsomermurderess · 08/04/2020 19:59

How do people know that others did nothing before the lockdown? Maybe they waked to the station, then to their offices, a wander at lunch time, a long walk around a NT property at the weekend? There are so many baseless assumptions made here, by those who assume only they are behaving reasonably, nay honourably.
I go out on my bike every day for about 30 to 40 mins. And just a reminder, their is no one-hour cap on going outside.

bluebeck · 08/04/2020 19:59

I go out for a walk about three times a week but to be honest I am fed up with runners refusing to apply social distancing so I might knock it on the head and stay in my garden like I did today.

Now the weather is so nice I can just garden and potter and do some Mr Motivator or Joe Wicks in front of TV.

I am perfectly happy in my own home.

blue25 · 08/04/2020 20:01

I couldn’t imagine not going out for a walk/change of scenery. I’d go crazy if I stayed in my house.

WestCountryLady · 08/04/2020 20:02

I'm not, I have been chasing 2 toddlers round the garden, I never go out to exercise anyway, maybe walk to town or school but with nowhere to go I've just been in the garden but I do have an exercise bike I've used occasionally.

anothernotherone · 08/04/2020 20:04

I wonder why so many people don't view their gardens as outside...

Or do people who are saying "me but I have a big garden" mean that they sit in the garden but don't exercise in it?

daisypond · 08/04/2020 20:05

I go for a walk three times a week. Otherwise I haven’t left the house.

vanillandhoney · 08/04/2020 20:06

I walk the dog every morning for a good hour.

ScarfLadysBag · 08/04/2020 20:07

Us. We have a big garden to get outside in and chasing my toddler around it is enough exercise for me Grin Would rather just not go out unless actually needed.

covetingthepreciousthings · 08/04/2020 20:08

I haven't been out of our house / garden for over 2 weeks now, I just don't want to risk it, my anxiety is already high and I'd feel too anxious to go out I think now. Though it does make me worry about how ill feel going out when all this is over and whether it'll have a long term effect.

We are fortunate to have a garden so I've been in that and also doing my PE with Joe every morning to get in some exercise.

MadinMarch · 08/04/2020 20:18

Of course! There's millions of us that are vulnerable due to health issues.
Today is the start of the fifth week of isolating on my own. It's the longst i've ever gone within seeing my 20 year old daughter who is isolating with her boyfriend and his family as I was already isolating when she returned from uni. It was the right thing for both of us but we're missing each other dreadfully- thank God for facetime!

TwentyViginti · 08/04/2020 20:22

Me. Only streets to walk around where I am - the nearest (lovely, big) park is quite a walk away - and I doubt the toilet is open (IBS) so I've resigned myself to being fat and unfit for a few weeks. No car, and won't take public transport for an 'unnecessary journey' into the city for a stroll - again I doubt the public toilet is open, and I don't fancy the shopping centre - not much open there now!
Small garden for vit D purposes, but not for any length of time. Too much noise from neighbours.

ArtieFufkinPolymerRecords · 08/04/2020 20:24

I’d love to, but my street connects two main roads, both of which are filled with panting spraying fucking joggers.

Funny as a runner, I don't come across these people, and I definitely have never sprayed or spluttered over a complete stranger, even when out of breath.
I also find that when I'm out and meet other runners (and lone walkers) we move to maintain the required 2m between us. The people who don't move over at all, or even move into single file, are couples or people with children who let their children run ahead of them.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 08/04/2020 20:24

Or do people who are saying "me but I have a big garden" mean that they sit in the garden but don't exercise in it?

I don’t have that big a garden (Though its bigger than a lot probably) but i use it for fresh air...not exercise

Floralnomad · 08/04/2020 20:24

The last time I left my house / garden was about 3 weeks ago , I have multiple diseases and a neurotic family who think I will die if I get it . Our garden is not particularly large but I go out in it twice a day and walk for 30 minutes each time . In normal times I walk the dog for 60-90 minutes per day and horse ride 2/3 hours per week , I’m still doing my usual Pilates and sit ups indoors .

Bouncingbomb · 08/04/2020 20:26

I only go in my garden, I haven’t left my property for nearly three weeks.

I don’t need to leave for exercise- I do that inside daily.

Hopefulmidwife · 08/04/2020 20:27

I've been out - even if it's just a small walk - everyday. I live in a 1 bed flat with no garden, I have an indoor cat so although windows can be open they can't be fully opened because of him. I need the fresh air and to get out. Having just one room and a bedroom isn't great for your mental health. But we're safe and I do appreciate that of course

PumpkinP · 08/04/2020 20:28

I’m not going out as I really don’t want to, I have no interest in taking a walk, I have a garden if I want to go outside

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 08/04/2020 20:28

Midsummer

Exactly

Even the dc walking the nearly 3 miles to and from school would have counted

Now its just 2 miles they walk but ds2 walks for an hour PLUS the 2 miles
