Anyone not going outside for exercise?

Is anyone not going outside for their permitted daily exercise?

OP posts:

Just because you're not walking the streets doesn't mean you're not gettign vitamin D. You can get vitamin D sitting on a balcony.

Balcony = outside.

temporarygate · 08/04/2020 19:23

I’ve not left the house for almost three weeks, children haven’t either.

DH has been on weekly supermarket trip and we have had everything that we can delivered.

We are not high risk but don’t want to have any unnecessary contact.

Carrie7469 · 08/04/2020 19:24

I’m not going out. Simply not worth the risk

Me.

A) never did so not about to start now and b) I’m pregnant so we are being v cautious and no one has left the front door in weeks, especially after I had pneumonia at Xmas. I felt like I was dying so I’d do any thing to avoid a repeat of that.

We are very lucky to have a big garden though.

Appiandterri · 08/04/2020 19:25

Shielding DH.
Have a garden- not massive- I also have health issues so mowing the lawn, weeding, sitting on the patio and keeping DH safe is fine.
I’m fatter but safe so I’m not going nuts.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 08/04/2020 19:28

In answer to the garden question

We exercise with Davina in the living room and we go out to the garden for a game of catch or boules or whatever

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 08/04/2020 19:29

Oh dh had a run yesterday at about 8am...only a mile round the block

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 08/04/2020 19:34

What Davina dvd/download are you doing? Ive tried doing PE with Joe Wickes but all the jumping up and down made my acid reflux flare up so I'm looking for something else.

Me. Terrible hayfever.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 08/04/2020 19:37

pink

Starting with 7 minute fit...we do warmup, one workout and cooldown. The idea was we would work up to two workouts but thats not happening yet Grin

Another we might attempt to work our way up to is Davinas super body workout, which I remember as being quite good

And the bit i like is there is usually someone doing the easy version of the excercises

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 08/04/2020 19:40

I've got 7 Minute Fit but I was too embarrassed to admit the warm up, one workout and cool down nearly killed me! I'll give it another try tomorrow night when I finish work...

umberellaonesie · 08/04/2020 19:42

We are walking the dogs for an hour at about 7 am when its quiet as a family as we realised very quickly the day is easier if we have physically left the house. dh has set up make shift gym under the gazebo on the patio. Which has made us realise we dont need our expensive gym memberships

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 08/04/2020 19:42

@RufustheLanglovingreindeer I used to love her Superbody workout!!! Loved the music in the warmup in particular used to make me really want to exercise! Not done Davina for a while...might have to get that out! I'm currently into Jessica Smith.

Answering the OPs question - not been out for 10 days solid - kids not been out for 3 weeks. We have a good size garden, with trampoline and the house is over 3 floors so the kids get plenty of exercise!

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 08/04/2020 19:42

We dont do the cooldown anymore pink

Its much too fast

We do similar stretches but for longer

Except today when no one could be bothered

youkiddingme · 08/04/2020 19:42

Only once a week at most, it's just too busy around here most of the time. Can sit in the garden and do a few stretches indoors, that's about it.

Bunnybigears · 08/04/2020 19:43

Daily 30 minute bike ride along the coastal path and back with DS. DS is used to swimming 2hrs a night so we need to do something fairly intensive.

PickAChew · 08/04/2020 19:44

I'm making the most of what we can do. What feels like half the city has gone home to their parents so it's pretty quiet. Trying to walk a different route with autistic Ds2 each day as he's becoming "stuck" and getting increasingly difficult (and is hell bent on getting thumped by his also autistic big brother). I keep finding my plans thwarted by new bits of pavement that have been dug up.

I am avoiding paths that make the 2m thing impossible, even if it means we lower the tone of a few neighbourhoods on our way :o

Might need to put it on...but i think it might be too long

We seem to be managing the 15 minutes, i have a feeling that i will have a rebellion on my hands if we do any longer

But i really really liked the trainers on that one

Sammy867 · 08/04/2020 19:46

We stay in our garden and there’s loads and loads of cyclists and runners passing all day (there is a public footpath running down the side). I usually go out to run once the sun has set. I have always done this as I put Dd to bed first then leave my husband watching tv whilst I go out. Plus I don’t like people seeing me run (overweight and unhealthy) And there’s not a lot of people out on a night time so I imagine there’s less risk then anyway

mynameiscalypso · 08/04/2020 19:47

I'm not. I'm higher risk and have a baby. I used to walk everywhere with his pram but I haven't since lockdown. I've taken him out once in his carrier to post a letter and been to the supermarket solo once. We have a small balcony and I do an hour of Pilates most days so feeling okay. It's not a requirement to go out every day and, if I don't feel the need, it seems selfish to go out for the sake of it.

maddiemookins16mum · 08/04/2020 19:48

Nope. I drive to work, drive home and stay home. I’ll leave the exercising to all the hundreds of thousands that actually never used to bother before Covid 19.

orangesandlemo · 08/04/2020 19:49

We are going out about twice a week, and once a week to work.
To be honest I'm too busy to go out, between working FT and looking after 3 children I don't seem to have time.

BillyAndTheSillies · 08/04/2020 19:49

We've probably only been out a handful of times since our self isolation ended last week.

Luckily we have a garden. It's not huge, but it's nice enough to sit outside, lay DS2 on a rug and DS1 can play.

If DS1 is getting a bit antsy, DH will take him around the block for a cycle. We back on to a forest but it's always full of dog walkers and seems to always be busy so we've been avoiding it.
