TUI low deposit - August holiday

Another holiday one - sorry!

I've got a long haul holiday booked for the end of August through TUI. So far I have only paid £250 but as this is part of the low deposit scheme, a second deposit payment is due at the end of the month of an additional £250.

I'm under no illusion that this holiday will go ahead unfortunately. Does anyone know what will happen if I don't pay this? I understand that they can go to small claims court but is this realistic under the circumstance?

It seems ridiculous for us to pay money for something we're highly unlikely to benefit from.

Thanks!

@zigzagbetty is the £400 the low deposit or the full deposit amount? If you have paid in full and you cancel you will lose the full deposit amount. Unfortunately I don’t think you can expect a cash refund anytime soon as they are processing so many cancelled holidays at the moment.

It's the full deposit, the deposit was £130 and the said they will take £400 to includes the free child place and low deposit

Hi we booked for next by direct debit and payment was due the 4th like yours and I cancelled the direct debit. How long did it take for you to get the cancellation letter you posted? Thanks

Tui have been very good at refunding money.
They refunded us when our December holiday didn’t go ahead and then when we rebooked for March they refunded us again
I’d pay up if I were you
You never know you might get lucky
I’m going to try and book for October a bit nearer the date.

Had no problems with rearranging my hol with Tui for next year and we got a refund straight away for the difference as price was cheaper. I would continue to pay for your hol, if you can’t go you can rearrange for free.
