OP posts:
Randomschoolworker19 · 07/04/2020 00:59

I have this awful feeling and fear he is going to die.

Oh god I so hope not!

Come on, Boris, pull through!

OhMargo · 07/04/2020 01:02

He will be one of the few that survives this in ICU. Hopefully, but that's my feeling.

I hope I am right.

kateandme · 07/04/2020 01:02

and why then is fucking dick head trump only sneding this drug now.is the rest of our contry ddying not worthy?

UYScuti · 07/04/2020 01:02

Random I agree it's very hard not to catastrophiz😱e
but let's hope for the best🤞he's got a chance💙

tryinghardnottocry · 07/04/2020 01:08

Is it just possible - and I am clutching at straws as I am becoming very anxious about Boris - he is the man we need at this critical time - I was cynical of him at first but over the last couple of years his towering intellect and charm and the policies he has sought to introduce has impressed me . So here is the straws I am holding onto

He has a persistent cough/fever he goes into hospital for help and they consider he is better in there so he gets help with his breathing - because of who he is he will get the very best help there is ( and we would all want that ) and decide he should stay in - they place him in intensive care not because he needs a ventilator but oxygen - which produces a useful byproduct of ramming down the throats of those who are somewhat blaze about the need to keep the 2 meter rule and stay at home - if that is the intention then it certainly works !

LesFleursDuMal · 07/04/2020 01:08

Seems to be very unpopular here, but I like Boris and always did. I really hope he pulls through and gets better soon. Poor man. And his pregnant partner, I hope she'll be ok too. It's very scary for her, she herself has it, she's pregnant, and now her partner is very ill.

DarnedSocks · 07/04/2020 01:19

The British PM should not be a guinea pig
It's better than dying. He's hardly first patient either. A fair few countries started treating Covid patients with these drugs before Trump mentioned them.

Late stage clinical trials started here in the UK last week
www.sciencemediacentre.org/expert-reaction-to-beginning-of-phase-3-randomised-studies-of-remdesivir-in-the-uk-announced-by-gilead-sciences-in-patients-with-moderate-or-severe-covid-19/

DarnedSocks · 07/04/2020 01:33

It's not just Trump. I first read about these drugs at least a month before Trump spoke about them. Most reports note there's a shortage of stock. There's particular concern about ensuring access to hydroxychloroquine for lupus and RA patients. I don't know how quickly more can be manufactured. Why is chloroquine, until February available cheaply over the counter, no longer available to buy if it's not a potential treatment? Why did the UK add it to the banned parallel exports list a month ago?

unique1986 · 07/04/2020 01:37

Hydroxychloroquine is crap. Weakest drug ever.

EvilPea · 07/04/2020 01:41

I was just about to say is this the drug we banned exporting a few months back?
Love the idea our NHS docs stopped work to talk to trumps doctors, like they have nothing better to do.

DarnedSocks · 07/04/2020 01:42

It's better than nothing. Perhaps instead they can try remdesivir.

DarnedSocks · 07/04/2020 01:46

EvilPea Chloroquine was added to the banned for parallel export list, yes. Assume the same for hydroxychloroquine. Remdesivir is a new drug. It was originally developed by Gilead Science as a potential ebola treatment.

starlightgazers · 07/04/2020 01:50

No, he would not get better help because of who he is - everyone is given the best treatment they can be given. And an ICU bed would not be given to anyone 'just in case', oxygen, NIV and CPAP can be given on non ITU wards.

alloutoffucks · 07/04/2020 01:54

I have had CPAP on an ordinary ward. This could be given to Boris in a private room not in ICU.
He will be on a ventilator. And will be very ill.

X
I think he will make it. He looks strong. Also gets superb care.

Ilady · 07/04/2020 02:03

I know people who like Borris and people who don't like him. I have seen some comments on various websites this evening and they have been horrible about Borris and his pregnant partner.
Borris is in ICU and his partner is pregnant with the same illness. She worried about him along with his ex wife, children, father, brother and sister.
How would the keyboard warrior s feel if people were saying the same about their partner, father, brother or uncle?
Corna virus is a horrible illness for some people. I hope he and his partner get better soon.

480Widdio · 07/04/2020 02:04

He is not necessarily on a ventilator at all! Lots of patients in ICU are not on them.

He may have been moved there to keep a closer eye on him, they certainly don’t have the spare staff at the moment to be nursing patients in single rooms.Especially patients with dyspnea.

alloutoffucks · 07/04/2020 02:09

@480 There are medics who have commented on MN this evening who are caring for corona patients who say ICUs are far too full at the moment to spare a bed for someone who just needs keeping an eye on.
And in terms of breathlessness, if you just need someone to check things are not getting worse, you do not need a Dr with them. Just a nurse doing obs every so often, and another individual there sitting with them.

EmMac7 · 07/04/2020 02:10

FWIW I am also hearing choppers here in East Kent.

alloutoffucks · 07/04/2020 02:10

And there is not the staff to spare by having someone in ICU that is a bit breathless who they are keeping an eye on.
This is the level at which they would keep someone at home.

hollybollyy · 07/04/2020 02:14

@EmMac7 sorry to be thick but what would that mean? northerner

BigChocFrenzy · 07/04/2020 02:14

Times reports a doctor saying Johnson received 4 litres of oxygen,
which is below the normal 15 litre threshold for ICU

  • suggesting he is in a better condition than most ICU patients

That's positive for him

alloutoffucks · 07/04/2020 02:20

As I understand it it is not about the amount of oxygen overall, but whether the amount of oxygen given has led to any improvements. So a lower amount of oxygen before ICU may actually mean the patient is more ill than normal. Correct me if I am wrong though.

EmMac7 · 07/04/2020 02:23

@hollybollyy

No idea, really. Just chiming in with another report of a restless military base. 🙂

NellGwynsPenguin · 07/04/2020 02:24

Just looking at him over the week, he had that glassy look like he had pneumonia.

I’ve survived C19 and it’s an odd one in that you get it, then you sort of don’t have it, then you get it like you’ve been run over, in the lungs (and blinding headache)

It’s deceptive as you think “oh I’ve just got a temp and a cough”.

Three days later you’re suffocating as your lungs aren’t working because the virus has killed the lung lining cells which facilitate oxygen transfer.
It doesn’t matter how much you breathe, you’re not getting oxygen, you’re just suffocating to death, and it’s absolutely exhausting.

My feeling is that Boris will be intubated depending on how bad his pneumonia is and how much his lungs are filling up with liquid.

If he’s getting air pumped in, it pumps the fluids out, and he won’t drown and die.

C19 is a deathly serious illness and I have to say Boris wasn’t wise shaking hands of patients, and not observing the social distancing that is recommended for a reason.

My heart goes out to all the people who are ill, all over the world, and the friends and families of those who have passed away from this dreadful infection.

Stay at home.
Wash your hands, and
tell your friends and family you love them everyday.
