First day of sun, music blaring

From neighbours garden, I mean blaring, as if anyone is selfish enough to believe everyone wants to hear their choice of music.

That would annoy me too. It's so selfish.

Boredsheep · 04/04/2020 17:13

Hmm boring

Applejaxx · 04/04/2020 17:14

Dont know where you are OP as there's no sun here just chilly just nippy and overcast....

VivaLeBeaver · 04/04/2020 17:14

We get this. I think I’m going to invest in noise cancelling head phones.

kayakingmum · 04/04/2020 17:15

I had the same problem this afternoon. Music has stopped now, but has now been replaced with the sound of a pressure washer which has gone on for ages. Annoying because all would be peaceful here otherwise (other three members of the family are fast asleep right now).

WorraLiberty · 04/04/2020 17:18

The pressure washer wouldn't bother me at all but it's selfish to expect everyone else to want to listen to your music.

doodleygirl · 04/04/2020 17:19

I think Mumsnet has become the go to place for the most miserable and negative people. It’s as if someone has said, come hither all misery and gather here.

Yes it’s a bit of a pain listening to other people’s music but in the grand scheme of things does it matter?

Nomorewineever · 04/04/2020 17:19

I have already planned that tomorrow if I want to sit outside or garden enjoying peace, I’m going to have to do it with earplugs in. The alternative is listening to incessant yapping dogs and shitty music, talk FM, or commercial radio.

We’ve all got to be tolerant at the moment and it’s not the most important thing by about a million miles, but those choosing to turn their gardens into outdoor pubs need to remember that by getting what you want, someone next to you might be stopped from getting what they want (a bit of de-stressing and down time). My peace doesn’t infiltrate anyone else’s life, so why should your shitty music infiltrate mine.

Music can be listened too very well on those revolutionary devices called earphones. Fucking use them!!!!!

Petetongue · 04/04/2020 17:24

Like I said, it is blaring, he is treating at least 20 houses to his choice of music, let alone if anybody has babies trying to sleep. I would prefer peace but get that this would be selfish to expect so why should one person inflict his preference in music on so many other people. There is absolutely no need for it to be so loud.

It's a beautiful blue sky in Suffolk and warm!

YellowPirate · 04/04/2020 18:06

We have had the same here. Its rubbish music and annoying me! The other side have kicked/hit their ball/shuttlecock over at least 6 times and now weve gone inside keep climbing over the fence to get it. We came in to get away from them all!

Petetongue · 04/04/2020 18:08

Yeah, I've come in as well but am meant to be shielding in the conservatory but I just can't stand the noise.

babychampam · 04/04/2020 18:09

Buy a house in a field on its own if you don't want any neighbour noise. If not suck it up.

Peoples lives are massively restricted (rightly so) and if some music in their garden gives them a happy afternoon I see no issue.

Goingfarawsy · 04/04/2020 18:10

Where we are in South East. I swear to God people must be scared to go in garden. It’s so so quiet! No one is using their hardens at all (except us) I find that so weird. Poor kids.

YellowPirate · 04/04/2020 18:12

I tend to think how it would be if everyone did it. If we all had loud music blaring out it would be awful for everyone. Just get headphones!

Petetongue · 04/04/2020 18:30

@stellais22 very tempting!

If that was my neighbour, I swear I would decide to cut the grass and do some drilling at 7am. I'd tell them that it gives me a happy early morning!

Gosh I hate people who think others should tolerate their selfish disturbances. For God sake, if music is so important to you, get bluetooth headsets, it will give you the music you crave and let others hits the peace they crave just as much.

YellowPirate · 04/04/2020 18:35

Me too. I don't mind some noise - obviously - it's just about having consideration for others. We can hear neighbours talking, kids playing, background music all day and it's nice to hear the sounds of others. I just hate it when it becomes intrusive .

LuckyLuckyWoman · 04/04/2020 18:39

To be honest I think I'd swap your music for smoke right now. As soon we there's a nice day weather wise, some ….... decides to have a fire every single time.

BillyAndTheSillies · 04/04/2020 18:40

We live next to a house share and as soon as the weather gets nice it's party central - just with the housemates.

It can be jarring, but I'm also very aware that I've got a 4 year old who has been tearing around the garden since 10am and winding up his very shouty 6 month old brother.

Although I wish they'd realise there are more music options than The Killers back catalogue. Please.

Ginfordinner · 04/04/2020 18:40

Chilly in Yorkshire today

Stellaris22 · 04/04/2020 18:42

We have neighbours who get their electric guitars out in the garden whenever it's nice.

I don't complain because it stops me feeling bad about our 7 year old singing and playing loudly in the garden!

JasonPollack · 04/04/2020 18:44

Sunny here. We played music in the garden- not loud but obviously sound travels. If anyone asked us we would turn it down although houses either side are both empty.

If we had headphones in we wouldn't be able to talk to each other, or the toddler. I have a much nicer time with music on!

Petetongue · 04/04/2020 18:53

I have absolutely no problem with noise, neighbour other side has been playing music all day, ok, not my choice of music but I can put the telly on and focus on that I'm not sure if people understand what I mean by blaring, the ground is virtually shaking.
