Sainsburys Delivery AWBU?

Bonnieonthelam · 04/04/2020 14:42

We finally and thankfully managed to book a delivery slot with Sainsburys as we are on the govt’s vulnerable list.

We are feeling Very nervous though as we are isolating for the whole 12 weeks, which we have adhered to very strictly since the govts advice. And now with this delivery coming soon we don’t know how to stay safe from the driver as Sainsbury’s don't do bags anymore.

Our shopping has lots of bits and we are both disabled and can carry small bits at a time only. Obviously we won’t be inviting the driver in, but how do we collect our shopping off the driver - are they leaving crates with customers? Or have they started up with the bags again? Anyone with any experience of this, please let us know. Thank you.

Btw we have called their lines every day since ordering and understandably no one has answered the call or replied to our email. We checked the online delivery FAQ’s too - no information there

Also on the delivery we specified we are self isolating.

Thanks for reading

When I had my asda shop delivered. The driver rang my phone when he arrived to let me know that everything was in bags and that he'd be putting it all outside my front door, then he'd ring the doorbell and move away from the house when he was finished.

They also can't take any substituted items away with them either. Hope that helps a little bit x

I think they're all doing bags now. Our shops have all come in bags when they didn't before.

emmathedilemma · 04/04/2020 14:48

The supermarket deliveries and click & collects are coming in carrier bags again. They'll bring the crates to your door and you take the bags in. Although you might need to repack some if you have difficulties carrying things, my Tesco one had some bags I could barely lift and others had 2 pots of yogurt!

kingis · 04/04/2020 14:50

We just had a delivery all the stuff was in bags.

whitedogpoo · 04/04/2020 14:51

It’s bagged. Ours left all the bags at the front door

IndigoSkye · 04/04/2020 14:51

I had my delivery from Sainsbury's, it was bagged up and the man put it all on my doorstep before ringing the bell and stepping well back, he was very professional and seemed really aware of not getting close to people. I was impressed

HairyFloppins · 04/04/2020 14:52

I had bags the other day with Sainsburys.

Bonnieonthelam · 04/04/2020 14:52

Thank you all for your replies. I literally felt the relief leave my body. So it will be in bags then. Thank you 💖

Asda delivered my shopping loose in crates on tuesday. He put them on doorstep and stood at the end of the drive while I took shopping in. No bags.

dappledsunshine · 04/04/2020 14:55

You can also write on the delivery instructions when you check out that you are shielding just to make sure they are definitely aware.

We did this when we were self isolating and the driver rang us when he arrived, asked us to wait inside and not come to the door. He then left the shopping in bags on the doorstep and rang us again when he got back in the van to tell us we could collect.

inwood · 04/04/2020 14:56

Definitely in. Gas with sainsburys - there is a note on their website to confirm. You can also select an in isolation delivery option where they will leave it on the doorstep.

inwood · 04/04/2020 14:56

Bags!!

HairyFloppins · 04/04/2020 14:58

Yes definitely with bags.

I had Tesco the week before they left the bags on the doorstep and quickly scarpered.

DishingOutDone · 04/04/2020 15:08

Sainburys in this area changed to all bags as of last week.

jimmyhill · 04/04/2020 15:11

All in bags thank god and let's hope they never get taken away again!

frillyfarmer · 04/04/2020 15:19

I had a Sainsbury's delivery on Thursday the 2nd and nothing was bagged despite their website saying it would be.

GameSetMatch · 04/04/2020 15:20

Can you open your car boot and have the driver transfer it it to your car, then you can’t take your time wiping the items and carrying them I need to your house.

lakequeen · 04/04/2020 15:20

In bags and my drivers have been gloved and masked also

Deelish75 · 04/04/2020 15:42

Had a delivery this morning. Crates on doorstep, shopping in bags, I carried the bags through to my kitchen whilst driver stood back. Once crate empty driver took crate back whilst I was in kitchen. Once all crates empty driver left. Make sure you throw the bags away once unpacked.

Clymene · 04/04/2020 15:44

You really don't need to throw the bags away. Just don't use them for a week or so. Honestly, there's no need to make additional plastic waste on top of everything else.

Stet · 04/04/2020 15:51

Ours have been Bags for Life so we are definitely keeping them!

SquatBetty · 04/04/2020 16:07

Yes had a Sainsbury's delivery last Thurs and it was all bagged and left on the door step, driver rang the bell and stepped back and had a brief chat while we took the bags in

Kathsmum · 04/04/2020 16:24

Disabled relative let the delivery man in then waited at distance while he carried it into kitchen for her. No way could she move it all herself.

Worked well.
