I am fuming. I haven't seen my son [27] since before lockdown.
And our nextdoor neighbours have their adult children and grandchildren in their garden!!!
What don't they understand about 'Don't visit family or friends who don't live with you" ????

If the bloody football comes over the fence they're not having it back. Angry

LolaSmiles, I get that. I'm not seeing my mum at the moment and she's very angry about it but, she's vulnerable. I dropped off some shopping that she said she needed two weeks ago - she was on her decking and I stood in the garden, left the shopping, said a quick hello and went. Unsatisfactory for both really.

I didn't stay for a drink, didn't use the loo, nothing at all but, I suspect that my mum didn't actually need all of those things and engineered the visit. What am I to do? It's really, really hard - and so is dealing with the outfall.

My mum is 73, doesn't care, says she's already had it. I've asked my brothers to comply also but, I can't make them. I certainly can't make my mother either and I imagine some contrived 'essential' shopping has been arranged there too.

I'm doing my best - not going there, not going out except once a week for milk for my family.

Children who spend time split between parents have been told they can't go back and forth between houses at the moment as it to much of a risk

I thought this was allowed?

LockdownLucy · 04/04/2020 17:24

Children under 18 can travel to other parent's house unless the advice has suddenly changed.

EachDubh · 04/04/2020 17:44

Sometimes there can be more to visits than neighbours know.
My dad's neighbours possibly think his grandchildren are visiting, he is in 70s and is sole childcare for their mum who is a nurse. They may see grandchildren appear after not being there then vanish after 4 or 5 days. Yes people are bending the rules and creating more work for those trying to help people but somtimes we don't know the full stories

Morgan12 · 04/04/2020 17:52

You don't know the full situation though.

My mother is visiting my house still but she had been isolating for 14 days before the lockdown as had we.

We are only seeing each other and not mixing any other households.

Could they perhaps be doing this?

HavenDilemma · 04/04/2020 17:52

@1forsorrow Criminal damage for popping a football?!?!?! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 OMG I've heard it all now!

Ffs haven't the Police got ACTUAL criminals to be catching.

Stop virtue signalling and being an online fault-finder! It really is irritating

M5ybelle · 04/04/2020 17:55

I wont see my newborn grandson, when he is born in the next 6 weeks, and am not seeing my 15 month old granddaughter that's a physical pain of loss or my 84 year old mother in law, who is quite healthy.
After this has ended we will remember those who stepped up to support, help, work and those who flouted the simple to follow rules.
We will be asked " What did you do during the coronavirus". I would be ashamed to say nothing.

HavenDilemma · 04/04/2020 17:57

@1forsorrow Also, Max wasn't calling the sick and dead people 'selfish arseholes' ffs!!! Why on earth would anyone do that?!?! They were calling people who ignore the lockdown 'selfish arseholes

What on Earth is wrong with you today?!

Eggcited · 04/04/2020 17:59

It doesn't matter if she's been isolating, the rules are clear.

You should not be visiting family members who do not live in your home. You should keep in touch with them using phone or video calls.

TheFairyCaravan · 04/04/2020 18:08

You're not allowed to do this.

How have so many people got to adulthood without having basic compression skills?

mummy203 · 04/04/2020 18:17

I would be angry too, they’re being incredible selfish. Grown ups should know better.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 04/04/2020 18:26

3 families from my street are congregating outside our houses throwing what looks like a fucking street party without the bunting. I'm fuming, the way our houses are laid out means we can't go to take the bins out, got to the garden all the time they're out there because DS is highly vulnerable so can't risk it, there about 30 of them in average coming and going, I've already had to have words because they kept intercepting deliveries for us and 'helpfully' carrying them to the door. 🤬🤬🤬

SnoozyLou · 04/04/2020 18:27

Yes, they're doing the wrong thing. They know they're doing the wrong thing, but that's the choice they have made regardless. What they choose to do wrong in their own home is none of your business.

There is no law against barbecues, or sitting outside for that matter. I think you should probably stop spying on them if it bothers you that much.

SnoozyLou · 04/04/2020 18:29

3 families from my street are congregating outside our houses throwing what looks like a fucking street party without the bunting.

Now that I would report!

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 04/04/2020 18:32

M5belle, you think so? I don't believe that will be the case at all. The public has a very short memory and those that are piously ticking off others have no cause for the 'what did you do in the war?' shtick.

It sounds ridiculously pompous too. All of the blow-hards on here complaining about their neighbours... shit or get off the pot. Don't impotently whinge about them.

Get on with your own life, following the rules until it's over. There's nothing else to be done.

nicky7654 · 04/04/2020 18:51

I had to drive to my mum's home and drop off food via her back garden today. Had a quick cup of tea in garden keeping a safe distance before I went home. Fixed her washing line and planted her new plant. Do you want to have a go at me too and tell me my mum has to starve as I'm breaking the rules?????

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 04/04/2020 18:55

Seven health care workers have died. A five year old has died.

What is it some people don't understand?

BackseatCookers · 04/04/2020 19:00

Do you want to have a go at me too and tell me my mum has to starve as I'm breaking the rules?????

No, because as has been said by many of us on this thread - dropping off shopping to someone who couldn't get food otherwise is necessary travel.

It's socialising for no reason other than wanting to see each other that is selfish and irresponsible. We all miss people, we all wish we could see each other. But we all need to adhere to the rules because otherwise everyone will be in lockdown for even longer and more people will die. It's not rocket science.

Your situation is within the guidelines because your mum wouldn't be able to get food otherwise. Totally different situation to ones like OP's neighbours.

scaryreading · 04/04/2020 19:12

Yes we drop the items and scuttle off, no more contact

Gfplux · 04/04/2020 19:19

Report them.
Report them.
Report them.

Smileyoriley · 04/04/2020 19:23

Report them

missmouse101 · 04/04/2020 19:43

Bluegecko, the guidance is clear. You are changing it to suit yourself, justifying it because of your knowledge. What you say may well be true, but sitting for a social chat with another household is not permitted. Drop the stuff and go, and chat all you like on the telephone. Why are you trying to find ways around it?

shamalidacdak · 04/04/2020 19:49

Can't you report them?

Lumene · 04/04/2020 19:56

My mother is visiting my house still but she had been isolating for 14 days before the lockdown as had we.

Then you are not sticking to lockdown rules and are putting others at risk.

ALovelyBitOfSquirrel · 04/04/2020 19:59

So we can ascertain that all those having a go at the OP and moaning about snitching and curtain twitching are not staying home and are not sticking to the VERY clear rules. People are dying , oh never mind, we want to see our family/buy unnecessary shit/go for a drive/basically do whatever we want. Marvelous. Stay at home. Seriously, how hard is it?!
