Does anyone know if a headache is a symptom?

AliciaWhiskers · 02/04/2020 21:19

We are self isolating. DS1 developed a cough 12 days ago. That was his only symptom and it’s still there now although it’s less frequent and not exactly dry, sometimes it can sound quite rattly.

I’ve felt tired all this week, and today I’ve got a cracking headache which doesn't seem to be getting much better with paracetamol. I felt sick earlier and went to bed for an hour but that seems to be better now, so it’s just feeling tired and headache.

Are there possible symptoms? I have no fever and no cough. DP and DS2 are both fine.

I'm on day 7 and a headache was my first symptom which has been with me everyday so far. I've also had diarrhoea (day 2/3), horrible dry cough (day 2+), raspy breathing (day 3-6), a sore throat (day 5) and today sore itchy eyes. So yes a headache definitely a possible symptom

PurpleDaisies · 02/04/2020 21:32

If you only have a headache is most likely to be something else.

Do you get hay fever?

AliciaWhiskers · 02/04/2020 21:35

@Iamclearlyamug thanks for your reply. I hope you get better soon. I’m guessing you don’t have a confirmed infection? Have others in your household been unwell?

@Purpledaisies yes I do get hay fever but almost always only get itchy eyes and a runny nose, which I haven’t had at all.

Yeah hubby and I had headaches. Migraine type.

PurpleDaisies · 02/04/2020 21:37

The tree pollen has been horrendous all week. I’d try taking an antihistamine and see if that helps at all.

Wejustdontknow · 02/04/2020 21:39

I have had a constant headache for about a week now, nothing is shifting it. Not so bad I can’t function but always there, I also have bouts of fatigue where I can suddenly get so tired I just can’t keep my eyes open. I do have a thyroid issue which I take medication for and am also coeliac both of which could explain the symptoms but as both are as far as I know under control I doubt it. I have no other symptoms though and feel very healthy except when the fatigue hits so don’t think it is Covid,

Piixxiiee · 02/04/2020 21:40

Yes I had headaches. We were all sick. Fevers etc. Ds4 had fever of 39 for 7 straight days not brought down with paracetamol. Dr video called a few times and said he though coronavirus. Other symptoms- head ache, body aches, fever, sore throat, cough, cold, diarrhoea and massive lethargy...

ofwarren · 02/04/2020 21:47

My GP told me today that some people are reporting awful headaches as their main symptom.

AliciaWhiskers · 02/04/2020 21:51

@ofwarren thanks.

I was convinced that DS1’s cough was not CV but maybe I was wrong.

I think I have had it - I'm on day 10. A headache was the first symptom and I still have it today. Headaches, terrible muscle pain and awful fatigue have been my main symptoms.

AliciaWhiskers · 02/04/2020 21:53

I’ve got some muscle pain but I’ve attributed that to 10 days of joe wicks workouts!!

OP posts:
AliciaWhiskers · 02/04/2020 21:55

@Wejustdontknow that sounds really similar. I am hypothyroid too but I think meds are at the right dose, but at times it’s past week my eyes have just felt so heavy and I’ve felt knackered. I have spells of feeling fine, we’ve been doing the joe wicks workouts every day and I’ve been doing those alright.

I work out 4-5 days a week and am use to aching muscles generally. This has been on a different scale - wakes me up every night and has been worse in my legs .

Duckingell · 02/04/2020 21:57

Interesting.

I have had headaches for over a week now. Nothing else to report other than a ittle more tired than usual.

Mustbetimeforachange · 02/04/2020 21:58

Noone really knows without testing which is why it's do vital. There are still other viruses around. All those people tested in hospital who are negative were tested because doctor's thought they had it.

Mustbetimeforachange · 02/04/2020 21:58

doctors

Fettled · 02/04/2020 22:05

I have also had a persistent headache and from time to time a heavy feeling in chest, raised temperature but no fever, chills, diarrhoea, nausea, sore eyes and overwhelming fatigue. I haven’t had a cough at all but I am out of puff just doing minor chores.

I’m hoping that I have got away with a very mild case but as it has been going on for almost 3 weeks now I’m not so sure.

Hope your headache clears up soon op, whatever it may be.

AliciaWhiskers · 02/04/2020 22:06

Agreed about the need for testing @Mustbetimeforachange. I’m an nhs worker so having been off for almost 2 weeks already I might now need to have more time off if I can’t actually test. Gah. Also, remember how inaccurate some of the testing has been. I’m sure some of those negative tests do actually have Coronavirus it’s just that the accuracy of testing is not great.

You won’t need to not go to work because of a headache (unless you don’t feel well enough to go in).

NotABeliever · 02/04/2020 23:17

A couple of weeks ago I had terrible headaches and muscle pain, especially in my legs for a few days. I put it down to stress but then had a fever for a few hours one day and after that I lost my sense of smell. My asthma got worse but I didn't have a blocked nose or a cough. I also felt very tired all the time and had some tummy upsey on and off for a few days.
I have no clue if I've had it or not. If I did, it was a very mild form and Ive been very lucky.

Manyminieggs · 02/04/2020 23:18

My youngest (6) has been complaining of a headache for almost a week. He rarely needs calpol but we've gone through a bottle in a week. I suffer from migraines, primarily head pain but with other symptoms too (visual and auditory symptoms), and whilst I've had no pain, I've had every other symptom of migraine, plus w rest dodgy tummy. About 2 weeks ago (the week schools closed) my DD had a RAGING temp for 12 hrs and was EXHAUSTED for a week before and after. My partner has also had dodgy tum and saying he doesn't feel quite right. seriously wondering if we've had it/are having it eith very mild symptoms. Or it.could be psychosomatic or totally unrelated illness. It's.hard not to wonder though!

Manyminieggs · 02/04/2020 23:21

And I've napped for 2 hours every afternoon. I put it down to change of pace since isolation and having no work on but I've never craved daytime sleep as much as I have the past fortnight.

AliciaWhiskers · 03/04/2020 07:54

It’s so difficult to know isn’t it? I am usually well and fit and active so I definitely don’t feel right, but then it’s hard to know if that’s just the stress of everything that’s going on.

@PurpleDaisies ordinarily I would agree, I would never take a day off work for just a headache. But if there’s any chance this is Coronavirus my colleagues won’t thank me at all for going in and giving it to all of them. Neither will any patients I see.

coronade · 03/04/2020 07:58

I had a headache for 2 days solid and nothing shifted it. Once it went I didn’t get anything else.
Maybe the stress of the situation we are in is causing so many of us to feel not right.

Northernsoullover · 03/04/2020 08:05

I'm chatting to my friend who has it. She has a headache and muscle aches along with the feeling crap.
