Surely The Queen can send a message.

I'm sure this has been discussed on MN before but cannot find the thread.
I have been on the phone to my elderly mother, she lives in a different town to me so our only contact is by phone.(brothers doing her shopping).
She was saying that people of her age would appreciate if the Queen gave a message to her people, mum is on the phone to lots of her friends and
they have all said according to mum that they would be happy to hear from the Queen.
Prince Charles gave a speech when he came out of isolation so it wouldn't be impossible.
I know that no one on MN can answer but I am thinking it strange she hasn't.

I thought about this today , maybe it would be too difficult to get a film crew in what with social distancing , she would be high risk given her age . Don’t know how they managed it with Charlie though.

NHS are only just getting adequate help and 1m had to sign on. Unless she plans to launch a fundraising appeal I am not sure it is the right time!

bluewafflewithmayo · 02/04/2020 18:56

Why does anyone think the Queen gives a flying fuck about them?

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 02/04/2020 18:56

Why, would it make people feel better about the fact they may catch a virus and die??

The NHS is underfunded, they are working without the protective equipment they need but yes what we need is a message from a rich woman in a big house

pocketem · 02/04/2020 18:57

How ridiculous

The queen doesn't give a shit about you, and you shouldn't care whether she gives you an insincere message or not

Ragwort · 02/04/2020 18:57

She has issued a statement.

InfiniteSheldon · 02/04/2020 18:58

She's in her 90s and in isolation you selfish arse she's worked every day of her adult life give her some peace

managedmis · 02/04/2020 18:59

What pocket said

slipperywhensparticus · 02/04/2020 19:01

A, she already has

B, her son who is taking over her duties has too

Hannah021 · 02/04/2020 19:03

you guys must be joking, you want a high-risk 90+ lady working day and night, to put herself out in public eye to satisfy your boredom?

Cut her some slack please... it shocks me how selfish some ppl are.

if she was a relative of yours you'd have left her alone,

Burlea · 02/04/2020 19:03

My goodness there are some nasty messages on here. Last month it was be kind to everyone I see that didn't last long.

What's kind about wanting a woman who is, quite frankly, nearing the very end of her life, to put herself at risk like this?

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 02/04/2020 19:11

She is going to make an address to the nation. According to The Times, today, No 10 and Buckingham Palace are liaising to decide when will be the best time for it to have the most impact.

Ragwort · 02/04/2020 19:11

I don’t wish to be unkind Burlea but the Queen and other members of the Royal Family have all made statements, perhaps you should have checked your facts before posting?

BuffaloCauliflower · 02/04/2020 19:16

She has, she issued a statement to the press and it was read out on the news.

I also imagine no films crews are going in to film here as that would be a big risk for the virus and she is very old - no visitors to your home, remember

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 02/04/2020 19:18

She is going to address the nation, when Buckingham Palace and No 10 decide it is the best time to do so, @BuffaloCauliflower.

BuffaloCauliflower · 02/04/2020 19:25

That’s fine, I’m not the one concerned!

LavenderQuartz · 02/04/2020 19:28

that 'be kind' shit was just that......a load of shit

Burlea · 02/04/2020 19:29

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius thank you for giving me that information.
I hadn't realised that she had issued a statement before which was on 19th march.

Sorry - had bit of a brain fart there, @BuffaloCauliflower!

donquixotedelamancha · 02/04/2020 19:51

YABU. It's hard for her to communicate at the moment and she sent a message wishing the country well, just last night.

I thought it was really nice of her to reach out- especially since it was my first go on a ouija board.

donquixotedelamancha · 02/04/2020 19:52

They have experts preparing for this right now- by watching Weekend at Bernie's.

donquixotedelamancha · 02/04/2020 19:58

She has, she issued a statement to the press and it was read out on the news.

Did anyone else think that was a weird statement?

All those comments about what a wonderful PM Boris Johnson is, and then she said the nurses in PPE remind her of letterboxes.

Maybe she's still cross with us for how we reacted about Prince Andrew.
