Who is coming out of this crisis looking good or bad

Good: Arnold Swarzenegger -self isolating with his miniature donkey and donating $1m for ppe
Joe Wicks -the nation's PE teacher.

Bad: Dominic Cummings- legging it with the Downing St toilet rolls and now holed up in his bunker self isolating.
Alok Sharma- I just read an article saying the government are using him to bore people into stop watching the daily update and asking all those awkward questions about testing.

Good
The Backstreet Boys Grin
www.smoothradio.com/news/music/backstreet-boys-reunion-i-want-it-that-way/
Bad
All the self appointed experts screaming at the Govt.
Just fuck off

madamehooch · 02/04/2020 17:23

Waterstones staff are furloughed on full pay.

The80sweregreat · 02/04/2020 17:28

Piers Morgan for championing the NHS. Yes his annoying , but I feel it comes from a good place.
Joe wickes :
Jon Bon jovi
Those employers who are looking out for their staff. M and S and Morrison's are giving pay rises.
All Retail staff.
All NHS staff but that goes without saying! Big thanks to them.
Care home staff: my dads ones are amazing.
My postman.
Staff / Army building the new hospitals.

Bad
Employers who do not care about their staff
China for terrible animal welfare.
Journalists trying to score political points.
The weatherspoon guy.
The word unprecedented being used too much.
People who are not following the rules.

TheCanterburyWhales · 02/04/2020 17:29

Bad- anyone who has agreed to speak at the farcical daily propaganda and lies meeting. Especially Harries because she is clearly spouting the tripe she's told to instead of the scientific truth.

The only person with a modicum of "good" in that lot was Sunak when he actually spoke in favour of actually putting people's lives first.

I'm afraid the cashing in of the B Listers on TV also leaves a sour taste.

I was at university with Alok Sharma a propos of nothing. Grin

TheCanterburyWhales · 02/04/2020 17:33

Jack Monroe is surprising in all of this simply for not trying to cash in on the trend of things like they usually do. Missed a trick really.

CoffeeRunner · 02/04/2020 17:40

Bad: anyone who has ever in their life looked down upon a Care Assistant due to their job.

Good: those poorly paid Care Assistants who have continued to work in the community day in day out, putting their own selves and families at risk to keep the parents and the grandparents of the above people safe & looked after.

Xiaoxiong · 02/04/2020 18:00

My and DH's employers have both been amazing, both to their employees and also in terms of doing good things for others in the crisis. I wish I could do the opposite of name and shame - name and praise?

UYScuti · 02/04/2020 18:30

Bad-nearly everyone!!

ssd · 02/04/2020 18:38

Good on bonjovi

MashedPotatoBrainz · 02/04/2020 18:41

Good: My husband who gave all the breathing equipment in his lab to a local GP who had nothing.

Bad: Boris fucking Johnson whose incompetence will result in 10s of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of needless deaths.

handslikecowstits · 02/04/2020 18:47

Bad: our local funeral directors who sent a flyer the other day reminding people of their services and offering a funeral plan. I know they have a job to do/business to run but my mouth was a agape at this.

BiggerBoat1 · 02/04/2020 18:52

Good

NHS staff, teachers, food bank workers, delivery drivers, supermarket staff, carers, cleaners, bin men etc etc
Piers Morgan, James McAvoy, Jamie Oliver, Jon Bon Jovi
Chris Whitty and all the other scientists we are relying on. Dr Hilary Jones who is so reasonable and sensible and who looks completely knackered.
Matt Hancock who actually seems a decent bloke doing his best.
David Hockney for lifting our spirits by sharing his beautiful paintings.

Bad
Trump and Boris for being utter fools.
Michael Gove - just for continuing to be Michael Gove.
Richard Branson, Sports Direct, Weatherspoons and all the small businesses who tried to make a buck instead of just shutting up shop like they were asked to.

On the fence about Jo Wicks who is just promoting the Jo Wicks brand as far as I can make out.

reallifegetsintheway2 · 02/04/2020 18:52

Bad - Jason Donovan singing too many hearts. He can't sing!

MashedPotatoBrainz · 02/04/2020 18:56

Haven't Sports Direct seen the error of their ways and taken steps to get themselves back onto the good list?

wafflyversatile · 02/04/2020 19:00

Good South Korea,

Bad the tories who underfunded the NHS and didnt heed warnings and were too late to act at every single step of the way.

CherryPavlova · 02/04/2020 19:02

Good -
NHS and wider public sector
The EU

Bad -
Most of the government
Those who spent previous few years moaning that the NHS was broken because they couldn’t have exactly what they wanted when they wanted.

covetingthepreciousthings · 02/04/2020 19:08

Jack Monroe is surprising in all of this simply for not trying to cash in on the trend of things like they usually do. Missed a trick really.

Her twitter advice has been brilliant each day. She's not done too badly out of the situation as she's now been offered a job hosting a tv cook show from next week which will be well paid. Very pleased for her though.

I think it was quite telling that despite a lot of uproar, Jamie Oliver didn't do anything to try apologise about taking what should have possibly been her limelight.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 02/04/2020 19:11

Good - all the above plus Duncan Bannatyne who is treating staff and customers well from the very beginning.

wafflyversatile · 02/04/2020 19:11

Haven't Sports Direct seen the error of their ways and taken steps to get themselves back onto the good list?
No they reacted to a backlash. The error of their ways is not limited to covid.

Stellaris22 · 02/04/2020 19:19

Yep. Sports Direct were (rightly) called out. Anything they do now is damage control.

Good: Brew Dog producing hand sanitiser and distributing to hospitals for free

Janus · 02/04/2020 19:35

Good - all key workers from doctors, nurses, radiographers, cleaning staff, lab workers, supermarket staff, teachers, delivery people, bin men, carers, and the many, many I’ve forgotten but should know.
Good - Joe Wicks for keeping our kids active.
Good - anyone who puts a meme on social media and keeps us smiling.

Bad - whoever decided ‘herd immunity’ was a good idea.
Bad - whoever didn’t order enough protective wear and tests for our nhs workers
Bad - sorry but some posters on here who have loved making snide comments at some of us who want to follow the basic ‘stay at home’ advice and generally referring to us as the ‘Nazis’.

ivykaty44 · 02/04/2020 19:37

Good
My local cycle club who have members out delivering prescriptions to those that need them delivered
Local farm shop that has created an online shop and drive through collection without any human contact
My neighbours who are all offering each other help

There are many sadly bad, most already mentioned so won’t repeat

ssd · 02/04/2020 19:55

Bad - tory voters still trying to deflect any criticism of the government by rushing to say
"but at least its not Corbyn"

Duchessofblandings · 02/04/2020 20:03

Tim Martin. Always was a thick, nasty piece of work though, crisis or otherwise.
Multi-millionaire footballers who are allowing groundspeople, people who staff the stadiums, cleaners, laundry staff etc. to be furloughed whilst they keep their ridiculous salaries and post sm videos from their glorious houses.

Good: NHS staff, obviously, most public servants, bus drivers, supermarket staff, delivery drivers, refuse collectors, utility workers, sewage workers etc. and hundreds of thousands more who we’re probably not even aware of. Basically, the people we all actually need.

FleaTrainerExtraordinaire · 02/04/2020 20:31

Bad: "The billionaire retailer, Philip Green, is asking for UK taxpayer help to prop up his crumbling fashion empire"

This is the same Philip Green who screwed over BHS workers and their pensions and been accused of sexual harassment, racism and bullying.

Cunt is too nice a word for him.
