A positive thread to balance the panic. Do you know anybody who has recovered? If so then please share here

I know there are alot of people who are extremely worried to the extent where they're thinking of nothing else so thought it might be nice to hear about some of the positive outcomes as opposed to the rising death rate and very sad cases that we are seeing in the media.

I'm in a Facebook group called "shine a light for coronavirus" and on there I've seen some lovely posts from the relatives of some elderly survivors who have overcome the virus.

To mention two, an 86 year old lady with underlying health issues and another lady in her 90s who recovered from coronavirus despite suffering two heart attacks in the recent past rendering her weak and not in the best of health - the media would have you believe that it is an instant death sentence for people in this category.

This is by no means an attempt to take away from the terribly sad outcomes for some of those who do pass away from coronavirus, i just want to remind those who are suffering from extreme anxiety that the almost all people do survive this. Even the elderly and immunocompromised.

Does anybody else have any positive outcomes to share? Have you had it and recovered or know somebody else who has?

Brilliant news about the 16 people leaving hospital!

Two more survivors are now donating their plasma to help in the effort to develop vaccines and making the most of their immunity by supporting the elderly in the community with their shopping

This is a very uplifting thread, great to hear some good news.

adiposegirl2 · 03/04/2020 02:22

Have any men who have had it mentioned that they had shooting pains, heat and inflammation in the area of their testicles?

BooseysMom · 03/04/2020 04:42

My anxiety is through the roof all the time with this so I'm going to keep reading this thread

**Booboo24.. i'm exactly the same. I've been told off by DH for watching the news and i've had to stop reading scary threads here ...some receht ones interestingly have just disappeared. Are they removed? Surrey not. So i'm going to keep an eye on this thread for now on

BooseysMom · 03/04/2020 04:43

Surely, not Surrey! Typing this at 4.45am after another bad night

This is such a reassuring thread. I know about 8 people who’ve had it. All between 40-55, all recovered. One really unwell in bed for 10 days, others managed to carry on day to day housework / jobs (in isolation) although v tired. I thought I may have had it as was I contact with someone who did, then a week later I was really run down, sore throat, bad shortness of breath (put it down to anxiety), then brief temp and bad tummy. No idea though so assuming it wasn’t.

littlequestion · 03/04/2020 08:28

This is so reassuring and also really interesting.

I've been reading a lot about loss of taste and smell.

I had a very mild cold at the beginning of March and then a week of really bad asthma - not unusual for me as colds usually trigger asthma but it was surprising to get it so badly from such a mild cold.

I then developed a horrible metallic taste and smell - everything tasted disgusting, I could barely eat and last half a stone. Couldn't taste or smell anything else. After about a week of this I rang my GP in desperation who said probably acid reflux (this was a couple of weeks ago before the taste and smell thing was widely mentioned).

It's miles better now though it hasn't disappeared and I still get days where I need my inhaler.

Rest of the family are fine, which makes me think I haven't had it, though DH is convinced I have.

Thanks so much for all these posts. It would be really helpful and reassuring to know where these people are located also. Just to give an idea of the spread, as some areas seem to be having milder symptoms / more spread than others. Although people are reacting to it differently also.
Thanks so much for these 🙏x

Yes, my colleague has had it and was close to being admitted. Same symptoms as others have described; breathing difficulties, fever, extreme fatigue and cough.

Fit 40 yo. Flat out in bed for over 2 weeks. Is now recovering but taking a while.

BogRollQueen · 04/04/2020 10:51

My colleague’s 60 year old, asthmatic husband probably had it. Had the classic symptoms, Recovered fully after a week or so.

And this story, this may change but at the moment London hospitals are coping:

More elderly survivors and a little boy with cystic fibrosis Smile

I then developed a horrible metallic taste and smell - everything tasted disgusting, I could barely eat - i had this. It was bloody horrible and the most prominent of the symptoms I had that made me question whether I had it. I've been looking around online to see whether it's common and multiple (confirmed positive) people in a facebook group for cv19 survivors said that they had this.

DB felt awful from days 5-10 but is better now. He'd been pretty insouciant about it before but has changed his mind.

Bouncingbomb · 07/04/2020 15:35

Yes, close friend admitted 7 days ago after becoming ill around 18/3, left intensive care yesterday and has been told she might be able to go home late next week all being well.

Stellamboscha · 07/04/2020 15:41

Thank you Op for this thread! I and colleagues probably had it about 6 weeks ago with all the symptoms for about a week and two-three weeks of breathlessness and fatigue -then back to normal.

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 08/04/2020 11:42

God I needed this thread so much : thanks OP.

I'm in the shielded group & have been clinically diagnosed. I've been catastrophising but this thread has calmed me down GinWine

Did you see the lovely gentleman on BBC breakfast this morning, 90 years old and has just come out of hospital, he was so positive, he said the NHS staff were angels. I can’t find the clip but he gave such a positive feeling 😊

Roostersmum2 · 08/04/2020 12:32

I'm so pleased people are taking comfort from the thread, it's lovely to hear of so many making good recoveries

Miles I hope you feel much better soon, as you can see here the chances of you overcoming this are extremely high. The odds are in your favour Smile

I haven't seen the clip of the elderly man on BBC breakfast but I'm going to go and find it on YT if possible. He sounds fab.

Here's another one from me, 104 year old woman completely recovered!
