A positive thread to balance the panic. Do you know anybody who has recovered? If so then please share here

I know there are alot of people who are extremely worried to the extent where they're thinking of nothing else so thought it might be nice to hear about some of the positive outcomes as opposed to the rising death rate and very sad cases that we are seeing in the media.

I'm in a Facebook group called "shine a light for coronavirus" and on there I've seen some lovely posts from the relatives of some elderly survivors who have overcome the virus.

To mention two, an 86 year old lady with underlying health issues and another lady in her 90s who recovered from coronavirus despite suffering two heart attacks in the recent past rendering her weak and not in the best of health - the media would have you believe that it is an instant death sentence for people in this category.

This is by no means an attempt to take away from the terribly sad outcomes for some of those who do pass away from coronavirus, i just want to remind those who are suffering from extreme anxiety that the almost all people do survive this. Even the elderly and immunocompromised.

Does anybody else have any positive outcomes to share? Have you had it and recovered or know somebody else who has?

I know a family of five who had it. Two kids had cough, fever, body aches. One child just had a slight fever. Father had cough and fever and a few days in bed. Mother never developed any symptoms. All fine now.

Two distant family members had it, both mid 50s and consultants for NHS. It was mild and they are back at work this week.

Figrollsaplenty · 01/04/2020 13:47

How have people been confirmed without a hospital admission?

Roostersmum2 · 01/04/2020 13:50

Oh balls, I need to have one of those photos removed as I mis-read the title of the 108 year old lady Sad

Figroll the people I've posted have been tested, but in other countries testing is more widely available and not everybody who gets a test will need hospitalization.

Though that being said, people here in the UK are being diagnosed by 111 based on their symptoms

Think I’m recovering from it, felt rough and cough is very unpleasant but I’m heading in the right direction now after 12 days. Nothing more than paracetamol needed. Think DH had it very mildly. Know the first man in Kent to get it officially and he’s fine now too. DD’s in isolation with us for last two weeks haven’t shown any signs.

MarshaBradyo · 01/04/2020 13:59

I know a fair few who think they’ve had it mildly and are now better.

How to know without a test though.

ItsABitOfAShitFightMate · 01/04/2020 14:00

she has survived Hitler open heart surgery

I don’t know what that entails but it sounds extreme.

Cloudhopping · 01/04/2020 14:07

Have all the people who are commenting know that their friends have definitely had it ie been tested?

bobstersmum · 01/04/2020 14:09

Anyone that had it confirmed, did any of you have a cough that wasn't dry?

everythingisginandroses · 01/04/2020 14:10

Me, DH and DS (11) have all had symptoms, I started on 17th March. We are all getting better.

Popfan · 01/04/2020 14:36

Hello again @Roostersmum2! Pleased it sounds like you are Ok! So as you know I had a temp for about 24 hours. Felt ok afterwards although tired. Then lost smell and taste 5 days afterwards. Feel absolutely fine. My DH and DS still fine. It's pointing towards probable I had it but who knows?!

Roostersmum2 · 01/04/2020 14:50

That did make me laugh. The grammar left something to be desired but the intention is good Grin

Hi @Popfan so pleased to read that you're doing well and the family are ok. I'm doing good, I'm pretty much back to normal now bar a bit of tiredness Smile

My mum and my brother had it (they weren't tested but my dad was and he was confirmed so it's pretty sure they had it too) and both have recovered now after feeling pretty awful, sleeping all the time

TheWooisStrong · 01/04/2020 15:22

Only confirmed via 111. 3 weeks in and I’m on the way to recovery, wasn’t a pleasant experience but it could have been much worse.

Snorkelface · 01/04/2020 15:31

Friend had it quite early on and has now recovered. High temperature and aches and pains came on suddenly and lasted for the first day and a half, then tight chest but not much cough, headache, metallic taste that wouldn't go away. Never felt the need for medical assistance based on symptoms but still very scared (that it would get much worse, which didn't happen). Felt exhausted, headachey and generally not well for a good two weeks after initial illness and not at all confident about not still being infectious but is now completely better.

Seventytwoseventythree · 01/04/2020 15:33

Hello, I am a doctor and have 8 friends who have had it (clinical diagnosis in some, others have been tested) I expect many more due to level of exposure. However they have all recovered well without needing to seek medical attention. Symptoms mostly flu-like for about a week though some also had the cough.

Pops1985 · 01/04/2020 15:37

My best friend is 8 months pregnant, has had it, been into hospital and is now home. So relieved.

mymoonmyman2020 · 01/04/2020 15:42

Pretty sure (as far as you can be without a test) that I had it. In bed for 10 days but on the mend now. Other family members had it more mildly and are fully recovered.

I think Michael Rosen is in hospital with what sounded like it- also seems to be recovering.

mymoonmyman2020 · 01/04/2020 15:44

IME the extreme fatigue/exhaustion was the worst thing - and the fact that it’s a very up and down bug - so you feel better, do more, then feel worse again. But the actual symptoms (for me) were milder than swine flu, for example.

3rdTrimester · 01/04/2020 17:45

An old colleague is currently recovering (confirmed case). 30 yo, started with a cough followed by a high temperature and skull crushing headache. Was admitted to hospital, tested for Covid19 (was positive), given a CT scan and lumbar puncture due to severe headache (all clear) and was discharged to isolate at home. This was 8 days ago. Didn't experience any breathing difficulties (despite being asthmatic).
