I know there are alot of people who are extremely worried to the extent where they're thinking of nothing else so thought it might be nice to hear about some of the positive outcomes as opposed to the rising death rate and very sad cases that we are seeing in the media.

I'm in a Facebook group called "shine a light for coronavirus" and on there I've seen some lovely posts from the relatives of some elderly survivors who have overcome the virus.

To mention two, an 86 year old lady with underlying health issues and another lady in her 90s who recovered from coronavirus despite suffering two heart attacks in the recent past rendering her weak and not in the best of health - the media would have you believe that it is an instant death sentence for people in this category.

This is by no means an attempt to take away from the terribly sad outcomes for some of those who do pass away from coronavirus, i just want to remind those who are suffering from extreme anxiety that the almost all people do survive this. Even the elderly and immunocompromised.

Does anybody else have any positive outcomes to share? Have you had it and recovered or know somebody else who has?

My cousin. 1 week in hospital. Back home fine. Underlying health conditions. Said she didn't see what all the fuss was about but must have had a mild version. Also suspect we've had it but won't know till tests appear. Apparently lots of people are entirely asymptomatic or immune.

EffOrf · 01/04/2020 07:36

Anyone mentioned Prince Charles, I know he will have the best healthcare but he is over 70

FlamingoAndJohn · 01/04/2020 07:38

My friends 20 year old daughter had it and is getting better.
My cousin’s husband was hospitalised with it but is now home.
My other friends parents both had it and are on the road to recovery.

EffOrf · 01/04/2020 07:39

Sorry OP said people you know and PC's is not as personal friend of mine Grin

Blankscreen · 01/04/2020 08:01

We think dss (15) has had it. Dry cough, tight chest, temperature, headache and even more lazy than usual.

It appeared 10 days after his last day at school and he's not been anywhere else. It's very strange.
We didn't isolate him in the house so we will have all been exposed.
If it is covid the rest of us have had barely any symptoms. A slight dry cough and sore throat for a few days for me and nothing for anyone else.

I hope this is it and we have got off this lightly.

Gemzee · 01/04/2020 08:15

Needed to see this thread thank you! Smile
I wasn't tested so it probably wasn't it however I was ill for 3 weeks in January (only 2 days in bed) and I am hardly ever ill (or if I am then it is a light cold for 3-4 days). Went to the Dr twice, they didn't know what it was. I had ALL the symptoms but we will never know I guess.
Feel fine now Smile

Gooseysgirl · 01/04/2020 08:21

I know eight people who have had it, seven have recovered Smile
One in his 40s - had a terrible time but did not need to go to hospital
Two in their 30s - felt a bit unwell but both recovered
Four in their 70s - all felt a bit rough but thankfully recovering.
Six from London and contracted it in the community
The other two idiots travelled somewhere that the virus was known to be taking hold Hmm

booboo24 · 01/04/2020 08:28

Thank you for starting this thread, I know of 2 people who have had it, 1 had paramedics out but they didn't hospitalise her, she is 15 days in and is on the mend. The second is my 75 year old dad, who had very bad breathing problems for 3 days where he couldn't get up the stairs (still plays golf 3 times a week usually so fitter than I am!) it floored him for about 2 weeks but he is now well on the mend. My anxiety is through the roof all the time with this so I'm going to keep reading this thread.

TreeTopTim · 01/04/2020 08:30

If you are going to be posting things from Facebook you should really be blanking out the names. Is it a closed private group that you are taking these from? I would not be happy to have anything I posted on Facebook posted on Mumsnet.

TreeTopTim · 01/04/2020 08:31

I don't know anyone who has had it so don't know anyone who has recovered from it.

FrankieKnuckles · 01/04/2020 08:31

I know a man (late 30s) who was quite poorly with it for 2 weeks but recovered fine. He didn't go into hospital but didn't leave his bed or eat for 10+ days & lost a lot of weight. He said it was the illest he's ever been. So I would say a moderate case, but like I say he's fine now.

Tartan333 · 01/04/2020 08:38

Roostersmum, I had very similar symptoms to you in addition to my chest and back feeling tight and a bit sore and tender. Very mild though if it was covid19 but guess it's possible as it does seem to affect people very differently. My instinct tells me that it was cv as I had been in contact with a colleague who had been in the affected area of Tenerife at that time who also self isolated for 7 days and another colleague who had covid symptoms. Hard to tell without testing though.
Thanks for a positive post!

Roostersmum2 · 01/04/2020 11:49

Thank you all for the posts!

Again as before I'm really pleased to read about the positive outcomes, I'm avoiding the mainstream news completely now

TreeTopTim, it is a public open group and I've contacted every poster I've shared to here. If they want me to remove their post then I absolutely will but nobody minds as of yet.

Another man who has recovered, he describes the horrible metallic taste that I myself (and some others on here) had

Carbosug · 01/04/2020 12:01

I know several people who have had it and recovered. I don't know anyone who has died from it.

A 103 year old woman in China survived it.

Carbosug · 01/04/2020 12:06

Apparently 80 per cent of people who get it will only experience mild symptoms.

ACautionaryTale · 01/04/2020 12:07

Pretty sure my DH had it four weeks ago. He works in public transport to and from London into one of the boroughs with a high level of cases. He also never washes his hands as we were told.

I had been working in an office with team members who frequently flew to Germany and MAdrid and had had the most horrific coughs for about three weeks - kept joking it wasn't corona (this was when it was mainly Italy)

I came home from work one Monday night and he looked grey. Admitted he couldnt breathe properly and felt like shit. First time I've ever known him to struggle to breathe in the 10 years I've known him despite having numerous lurgies. Went to bed, slept for the night and was perfectly ok afterwards.

A few days later, I felt like shite but I always get lurgies so I just wrote it down to another bloody thing I'd picked up and I've always got a cough - its just seemed a bit worse than normal.

We are both now fine. He's 61 with high blood pressure, BMI 41 and diabetes.

I'm 44 otherwise healthy but BMI 52.

I'd love an antibody test to see if we'd had it.,

leckford · 01/04/2020 12:09

One of my relations and his other half, both over 60. He worked at the Cheltenham races

Winter2020 · 01/04/2020 12:10

I saw on the news last night
BBC newsreader George Alagiah has beaten Corona Virus while living with stage 4 cancer
Heart warming

Wingedharpy · 01/04/2020 12:14

You beat me to it @Winter 2020.
I was just about to post about the lovely George - not that I know him personally.

Woofwoof50 · 01/04/2020 12:19

Has that 81 year old lady actually got a fag in her hand?!?

HebeMumsnet · 01/04/2020 12:24

Oh! So pleased to hear about George! I heard he'd contracted it and was really worried. He's in my mental 'cupboard of lovely people'.

catsandlavender · 01/04/2020 12:36

A family member (NHS) caught it. She’s 24. She had a temperature, cough and lost sense of smell. Lasted about a week I think. She’s fine now. Smile

Roostersmum2 · 01/04/2020 12:42

Yes Woofwoof50 she has, not ideal but it will definitely give comfort to the smokers/ex smokers Blush

My DH was diagnosed by 111, mid 30s and asthmatic. Breathing wasn’t great for about a week, had to really up his inhalers but fine now (10days later). Won’t know for sure until we can get tests of course, but whilst it wasn’t nice for a week he’s been more ill with general winter bugs.
