Any community responders on here?

AngelsWithSilverWings · 31/03/2020 11:04

Just wondering if there are any other new NHS volunteers on here doing the community responder role.

I've set my app to on duty as I believe it is supposed to go live today.

No jobs yet and I'm not really expecting any today to be honest as I think it's going to take a while for the referrals to come through.

@steamingthedoorknobs I've just counted and there are 15 other responders within a 1/4 mile radius of my house. We'll be fighting for calls!

I signed up for transport and shopping but might not have much to do unless the shit really hits the fan.
The local volunteer group had a huge response and they've been doing prescription and shopping deliveries for weeks. They're not taking on any more people as have got more than enough for now.

I'm also still awaiting approval. Maybe we won't all be needed, if they have enough already. I don't have dbs so if many others do I can see they'd just go with them.

I switched to 'on' this morning but nothing so far.

@Matildathehun77 did you receive the link to the information pack?

I did get the pack and have had a read through, I know there were some answers there but not all. EG if somebody asks about money and how they'll cope am I supposed to know what benefits they can apply for or do I just signpost them to somebody else more helpful?

Not to hijack your thread but my dp and I are isolating due to his health conditions and in a couple of weeks we'll need to request someone picks up his prescription, how do we actually get a community responder to do this, does anyone know? Thanks

@Gracepoolesrum I have no idea. Its very confusing isn't it. Maybe phone your gp and they'll know.

Or, go on Facebook and see if anyone local are offering help. Our town council have put together a team of volunteers for this x

Hi
I've just downloaded the app and switched to "on duty". Then simulated an alert... So loud! 😁
Just waiting to see how it all works I guess.

Very quick turnaround from signing up to being approved, so no DBS checks or anything.

@Gracepoolesrum you would need to contact your GP who would refer you to the service if needed. Some pharmacies have their own delivery person though so they may use them.

All of the people using the NHS community responders will have been referred by the NHS.

I've checked on the RVS Facebook page and calls to responders won't be coming through until later this week.

Health care professional chipping in. We've had an email with a weblink to refer to the service. I think (haven't done it yet) we send the individual details and the request through, with our official nhs.net email to confirm. Came out earlier today. Pharmacists are on the list that can refer, so suggest contacting them a few days in advance.

Just a question as I’m a bit confused the email I received last week said that I had verified my email but they would have to verify my identity before I can log onto the app...I have downloaded the app but do I wait for them to get back to me again by email and do they then give login details for the app or do I just register my details on the app which pops up once it’s dowloaded?

I joined but due to having DC opted just to transfer equipment / supplies so I'm not coming into contact with vunerable for prescription deliveries or taking out patients home etc.

Brilliant to see so many responders nearby, and hoping the lack of jobs is because they have lots of support and too many volunteers rather than not enough

AngelsWithSilverWings · 01/04/2020 22:58

@makingmiracles. Once your ID has been confirmed you get an email saying congratulations you've been accepted and it then tells you that you can log in to the app. That's what happened to me anyway.

@Gracepoolesrum Have you thought about signing up to the online services. I've just signed up to Echo run by Lloyds Pharmacy as I thought getting prescriptions may become a problem. It worked really well. Sign up, fill in all your usual medications, click on the one you need and this request goes to your Dr electronically, medication arrives by Royal Mail. I think Boots and the Co-op have similar.

Just seen this update on the RVS Facebook page:

📣UPDATE 📣We are still working our way through the 750,000 applications so we thank you for your continued patience on this.

For those that have been verified already, volunteer requests will officially begin to go live on the app from Tuesday with a very small no. of people seeing tasks before this.

This will be a gradual and developing process as more healthcare professionals and local authorities refer people who need help in greater numbers.

If you have any queries, you can see our latest FAQ document here: bit.ly/39CVmQm. Or, if you have questions about why your application may have been rejected, please call our team on 080 8196 3382.

Right so I got the email saying I can now log on to the app but I’m being dense and a bit confused still, do I need to register on the app once I’ve dowloaded it? I can’t recall setting a passsword to immediately log in...

I downloaded the app when I got my email saying that they were checking my ID. They included in that email the link to download the app. At that point I registered with the app but it would only show me that my application was awaiting approval.

When I got my acceptance email I then logged back in using the password I had previously registered with. I was then able to upload my photo and go on duty.

Have you done anything yet, Angels ? I've been 'on duty' all day but nothing. There's quite a few of us too, very locally!

I've been on duty since last Tuesday and haven't had a call out yet. I think they have only really started things today.
