Any community responders on here?

AngelsWithSilverWings · 31/03/2020 11:04

Just wondering if there are any other new NHS volunteers on here doing the community responder role.

I've set my app to on duty as I believe it is supposed to go live today.

No jobs yet and I'm not really expecting any today to be honest as I think it's going to take a while for the referrals to come through.

Anyone fulfilled any calls?

I've had 2 but when I phoned them they didn't actually need any help.

I've now registered interest in doing patient transport.

Still nothing here -on duty for 280 hours now. I know three other responders local to me and they've had nothing either.

I've had mine switched on for nearly 2 weeks now. Nothing!

I live very rurally so I guess I'm never the closest port of call.

I'm really sad about it though as, to be brutally honest and selfish about it, I mainly volunteered so I'd have an excuse to leave the house and see people more!

Has anyone had a request yet?

I’m not really sure how it allocated takes. There are about 4 responders in my road of about 70 households so no shortage here. I’m wondering when I might get another opportunity as nobody on this thread seems to have had anything.

Oh no! Well,am sure it won't have gone unanswered.

So does it prioritise by closeness? I'll probably not get much then as there are loads of green people on my map, and plenty between me and the pharmacy, even though it's only about a 6 minute walk away!

NB I put down for picking up prescriptions etc and also chatting to isolating people, but I only got allocated the former.

Arghh! I missed my first potential task, after waiting for all this time. I casually looked at my phone yesterday evening and saw that it said I had not accepted the task so it had been given to the next responder. I must have been in the garden but I'm amazed that I didn't hear that alarm.

I applied
For NHS community responder and NHS transporter ( not patient transport ) . My acceptance came through as community responder.

I'm now at 201 hours on duty and not had a single call out. Meanwhile my local neighbourhood volunteer initiatives seem to be very busy helping in the community. I didn't volunteer for those because I wanted to be involved in something more official. I'm wondering if I did the wrong thing.

Can anyone tell me how to find out what you signed up for?! I can't for the life of me remember which I picked.

Does anyone know how someone gets on the list to be an alerter? Is it anyone on the government shielded list?

I saw on the BBC yesterday which said requests will start to be issued soon. Has anyone seen anything yet?

Do you think the system is actually operational?
Maybe all the needs have been met via mutual aid groups?

Has anyone seen a job request yet?

arrgh. I read the pack which says about setting it up and I appear to be doing it right but on the sign in part on the app I put in my email and password and it does nothing at all, I press return, still nothing, so am a bit bemused now as to why it won’t log me in! Maybe they don’t want me after all Confused

I’ve been on duty for a week and haven’t had anything! I thought that there’s something like a forum to hangout on and speak to other volunteers but NO

I've been on duty since last Tuesday and haven't had a call out yet. I think they have only really started things today.

Have you done anything yet, Angels ? I've been 'on duty' all day but nothing. There's quite a few of us too, very locally!

I downloaded the app when I got my email saying that they were checking my ID. They included in that email the link to download the app. At that point I registered with the app but it would only show me that my application was awaiting approval.

When I got my acceptance email I then logged back in using the password I had previously registered with. I was then able to upload my photo and go on duty.
