Has anyone been able to place online order with Tesco in the last few days?

I'm in the vulnerable camp due to poor immunity after chemotherapy, but because I'm no longer receiving treatment I didn't get a letter, which I believe to be a loophole.

Anyway, I've been checking Tesco late at night for weeks and suddenly the new day pops up but no available slots instantly. Normally they're not released until midnight. but tonight they came online at 10:30pm, and again, all booked up straight away. It's as though they're just blocked off or something.

Does anyone know if this is regional? I'm wondering if anyone has managed to book a slot in 3 weeks time when the new one becomes available each day. There must be someone on MN who has managed to!

Guys, reading all of your posts is terrible to hear. Why haven't the media picked up on this and shamed them into organising this better?

There HAS to be more they can do about this. There HAS to be. This is not functional at all, and as usual it is the old, young and vulnerable that are suffering the most.

@champagneandfromage50
I thought all the slots had gone as on the phone app the 18th April appeared at around 10.30 but no delivery slots. However they release them at midnight so I kept refreshing the app, I managed it on the phone but not laptop.

Can you run this by me again? It sounds like you saw the 18th fully booked at 22:30hrs, but then kept refreshing until midnight when all of a sudden those 'booked' slots became available?

Did I read that right?!

Sainsburys wouldn’t let me even check slots as said I’m not vulnerable despite getting the extremely vulnerable text
Same here. I'm done with them.

I got a Tesco one for next Thursday. Just popped up in isolation like a wee miracle so I grabbed it lol.
Hope they deliver 🤞🏻

Letsdoanamechangeagain · 29/03/2020 09:45

I cant get one. Every day for delivery and click and collect says "unavailable"

Nothing either for sainsburys, Asda, iceland and morrisons.

I've been sticking with Tesco up to now as I've been a customer of theirs for years, but nothing was ever available despite checking different times of the day and night. It's like the slots are being blocked from my view. Like pp said, the next day appears, and all the slots are unavailable.

I'm self isolating at the moment, so I'm getting a bit worried if I can't sort something soon...

I placed an order about 2 weeks ago and it’s due today. I’m interested to see what actually turns up. I am getting cupboard items for my MIL to try to keep her indoors! I got a delivery of loo rolls, washing liquid and hand soap sent over from an online store. Some things on amazon won’t be delivered (I tried to send her an exercise bike but they wouldn’t delivery it!).

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 29/03/2020 10:05

I finally got one in the early hours of this morning for 18th April. I couldn't believe my eyes. I'd been trying all week, woke up at about 4 this morning and just randomly clicked on the app and there they were.

I'm not ashamed to say I had a good cry.

PonderTweek · 29/03/2020 10:13

I should have one coming today and I booked it about three weeks ago. I keep checking the app for future slots but can't see any available, however, out of curiosity I checked the Click and Collect and after changing the store I could see some available slots for those. Maybe worth a go for those that drive?

Lordfrontpaw · 29/03/2020 10:24

I looked at click and collect - the only one was a huge Tesco miles away. No other online deliveries available.

Cuddling57 · 29/03/2020 10:26

I've been a delivery saver Tesco customer for years. I can't get any new ones booked. I just hope they are going to the most vulnerable.
Have you tried going on Facebook for your local area and asking about deliveries from local food companies or helpful people? Companies that used to deliver to restaurants are now doing home deliveries. People are also helping out around here too.

champagneandfromage50 · 29/03/2020 10:37

LoveLongLife yes. I saw the 18th appear on the phone app but I was miffed that it said no availability. I went on my laptop and the slot only went to the 17th therefore I hoped it was a glitch and sat up until midnight. That was when error messages started to appear when I was trying to see if slots were available, no luck on laptop so I kept trying on my phone and up they popped. I quickly selected a slot. Interestingly when using the laptop the error message was still appearing when I went to bed.

Lordfrontpaw · 29/03/2020 10:42

I’m pretty stuck - can’t order online and get a long lecture about not going out when I do pop to the shops for her. I can’t win!

Clymene · 29/03/2020 10:55

Everyone that can go out needs to. We need to leave the delivery slots for those who are vulnerable

playthestation · 29/03/2020 10:57

I should have clarified when I posted last night actually. Although several slots were showing available I didn't book one. I almost did but we have been managing with DD going so I left them for more needy people.

Clymene · 29/03/2020 11:21

Thanks playthestation. I live 150 miles from my parents who are in their late 80s and they stayed up until 1am trying to get a slot. They're worried and so am I and I'm so frustrated that I can't help them

Lordfrontpaw · 29/03/2020 11:47

Ok so I got my order - missing pasta, lentils and canned beans (kidney, etc) also yoghurt. A bottle of dishwasher liquid was in the top crate - upside down and half empty so a cookie of things had to go back as they were soaked through (including a bag of porridge in a papery bag which had a hole in it where the liquid had soaked through). But on the whole bit too terrible.

Lordfrontpaw · 29/03/2020 11:49

Oh and no bags. It would be safer for the drivers to have everything bagged and just leave it on the doorstep rather than having to hand everything over!

Afterhours · 29/03/2020 11:52

I managed to get a Tesco click and collect at 5am one morning.

Angel2702 · 29/03/2020 11:55

Haven’t been able to book a slot. I check regularly at different times seem to be around 10-11pm next Day appears with no slots and no click and collect anywhere near.

LoveLongLife · 29/03/2020 12:04

@champagneandfromage50 thanks for clarifying. I will line up my laptop, iPad and phone and see what happens!
Was it all gone in a flash? And I'm wondering if when you say midnight you mean literally the stroke of midnight or ten past or half past..

I've got one on 7th April (16 days since last I could get). I think after that, I'm going to contact the volunteer service organised by our local councillors. There are many people signed up to help those who can't shop for themselves. It's not ideal, but I don't see what choice we have.

DH isn't classed as extremely vulnerable as he was only diagnosed with a high grade brain tumour on 1st March, had debulking surgery on 6th March and still waiting for the biopsy results so he can start treatment. We know it is aggressive from the way it behaved and they couldn't remove it all.

He is likely to be terminal, but not sure how long he will have. I want to keep him safe as a) he needs to start treatment urgently - the surgeon told us this 3 weeks ago; b) he also has asthma and in an emergency triage situation, people with terminal brain cancer will not be getting ventilated. But because he isn't actually on treatment we currently get no support.

He is 46, we have two children at home and life sucks.

I'm hoping that we will get a volunteer to help us and he might be acknowledged as extremely vulnerable yet. At the moment, we feel pretty forgotten. A friend has nipped out for odd things but I really hate to keep asking as they are helping other people too.

champagneandfromage50 · 29/03/2020 12:12

It looked like the slots were released at midnight as that is when error messages appeared as a lot of people were clearly accessing the site. I started refreshing just before midnight.

tealady · 29/03/2020 12:50

Sending you lots of love KinkyDoritos. I can't begin to imagine the pain you are going through right now.

You can register as vulnerable here
www.gov.uk/coronavirus-extremely-vulnerable
and there is also a telephone number to call for support

My Mum (over 80) has managed to get a delivery slot with Sainsburys by letting them know her age. Also may work for your situation I would hope.
I would also recommend the Morrison basic box. www.morrisons.com/food-boxes/boxes
Try this early in the morning. I think they have an allowance for each day.
Take care xx

champagneandfromage50 · 29/03/2020 14:29

KinkyDoritowithsparkleson Our street has a whats app group and if anyone needs anything someone will get it. You may need to contact your council or check on Facebook to see if there are any support groups covering your area. I understand your struggles as I have 4 DC at home and a DH in his 40s too who is coming to the end of his cancer treatment. He has two cancers and can't self isolate despite being in the high risk group as he is still having radiotherapy. Despite him being high risk we get no support as I am at home and can assist. The only folks getting support are those in the high risk category who live alone I believe
