Has anyone been able to place online order with Tesco in the last few days?

I'm in the vulnerable camp due to poor immunity after chemotherapy, but because I'm no longer receiving treatment I didn't get a letter, which I believe to be a loophole.

Anyway, I've been checking Tesco late at night for weeks and suddenly the new day pops up but no available slots instantly. Normally they're not released until midnight. but tonight they came online at 10:30pm, and again, all booked up straight away. It's as though they're just blocked off or something.

Does anyone know if this is regional? I'm wondering if anyone has managed to book a slot in 3 weeks time when the new one becomes available each day. There must be someone on MN who has managed to!

OP posts:

I'm having exactly the same problem. I've given up for now and trying to find farm shops etc that deliver as I am high risk and afraid to go out to shops at all

AlexaShutUp · 29/03/2020 00:12

Yes, I finally managed to book one yesterday. I can see slots on there tonight as well, but they won't last long. I think some regions must be worse than others. I had many failed attempts before I got lucky though!

Keep trying, OP. Also, try Morrison's food boxes. They seem to become available at random times of day, so just keep trying!

flouncymcflouncerson · 29/03/2020 00:14

I got one a couple of days ago for the 25th April, I got it just after midnight.

RingPiece · 29/03/2020 00:14

Same here. So cross they became available early. I was ready at midnight and they were all gone. I feel as if they were trying to trick us. I don't drive and do not live near any food shops. I'm not in the most vulnerable category and have no symptoms. I have about four days worth of food left.

Suki2 · 29/03/2020 00:14

I've tried Tescos four times now at midnight, for my parents, with no success; it's seemingly impossible. I've also tried countless other supermarkets; Asda was also booked up at just past midnight tonight.

I think you'd be better trying to find local help, LoveLongLife. Have you tried ringing farm shops? What about the army of helpers recruited by the Government? They should be able to bring you food and medication. Or could a neighbour shop for you? My parents do have very helpful neighbors; I just would have liked to have provided some help myself. Good luck.

QM2QEQV · 29/03/2020 00:16

LoveLongLife I have managed to get them. I was an existing delivery saver customer so don’t know if that’s a factor. I got mine at midnight last night for 17th April.

Where about are you located? I’d be happy to give up mine if you were in the same area, have a DS with history of respiratory issues but sounds like you are more in need

Mammamia2020 · 29/03/2020 00:17

Hi.. Yes in the same boat. Don't understand how they can not be there one second and then literally next one are all unavailable. I'm in London.
Annoyed because I had to wake especially for this and my baby will wake me soon too. Wouldn't mind the interrupted sleep if I actually got somewhere.
Not having any luck with Asda or Sainsbury's, including click and collect. And the less said about ocado the better.
Please let's not have a no deal Brexit on top at any point. The supply chain would surely snap.

champagneandfromage50 · 29/03/2020 00:18

I have managed to order online via tesco this evening. I thought all the slots had gone as on the phone app the 18th April appeared at around 10.30 but no delivery slots. However they release them at midnight so I kept refreshing the app, I managed it on the phone but not laptop. My advice is download the phone app, and keep refreshing at around midnight. I couldnt get a slot with the laptop it kept showing error message

Lindy2 · 29/03/2020 00:18

I just managed to book a click and collect. Slots for 18th April became available at midnight and I managed to get one.

We'll need to do some small shops before then but I do feel a lot happier knowing that a proper big food shop is arranged, even if it is 3 weeks away.

playthestation · 29/03/2020 00:20

Slots available here. Excuse the fact that I took a pic of my iPad, I find the upload easier on my phone using the app.

Mammamia2020 · 29/03/2020 00:21

Also think they all need to ditch bagless deliveries for now. Aibu? I know it means a lot of plastic waste but those bags can be wiped and reused later.

QM2QEQV · 29/03/2020 00:23

Mammamia they have ditched bagless now there was an email from Tesco and my order on Thursday turned up in bags

RingPiece · 29/03/2020 00:23

All unavailable. Must be high demand where I live.

Mammamia2020 · 29/03/2020 00:26

Oh that's good to know, thanks. @QM2QEQV
I'll have to set an alarm again for tomorrow. Will try the app then, if that's worked for some. Good night all

w00dlander · 29/03/2020 00:34

Yes. Waited till midnight and Saturday 18th appeared for click and collect.

Checked Sainsbury's too and they have loads of slots for this week! So I booked one for my mum - her account but she can't work the internet so I do it for her.

PumpkinP · 29/03/2020 00:41

None were I am either, are they all prebooked for vulnerable because we got a text to say we were but have heard nothing from Tesco’s etc so we’ve obviously been over looked. When are the slots released?

RoseMartha · 29/03/2020 00:47

I am having this problem too and trying to also shop for multiple vulnerable relations who do not live with me and my own shopping in one online shop. Harder now tesco has brought in under 80 items.

I dont want to go into the shop to get it as one of my kids although almost a teen has asd and can not be left without an adult supervision. But a quick glance at my child you would assume was not sen. I am a single mother. So my asd child needs to come with me but I have been reading that only one person is allowed in the shop per family.

I have a slot for this week. But then what?

PumpkinP · 29/03/2020 00:57

Well I’ve just checked, Asda no slots, Sainsburys wouldn’t let me even check slots as said I’m not vulnerable despite getting the extremely vulnerable text message they were sending, Iceland’s no slots, I have 4 children and have read children are now banned from shops so what’s the answer then? This is so bad I don’t what’s the point in carrying on tbh.

RightOnTheEdge · 29/03/2020 02:08

No, I ve been checking a lot and there has been nothing for weeks here.
I'm not classed as vulnerable but I am a single mum and my dc are not old enough to leave on their own.
I'm worried shops won't let me in if I take them with me.

RishiSunakFanClub · 29/03/2020 02:09

When I look for a Tesco slot no hours are listed even if booked up, for several days. The dates move forward each day - ie the last shown date is 19th April, was 18th before midnight, but no slots appear.

RightOnTheEdge · 29/03/2020 02:10

I have managed to book a couple of deliveries from Morrisons in the last month but now when I try it just says there are no deliveries to your address.

Legoandloldolls · 29/03/2020 02:26

I am giving up with Tesco. I had to buy £200 worth in my last shop just to make sure I got at least £60 worth delivered to feed my 4 kids.

Now its 80 items God knows what will turn up. I normally do online weekly but I csnt book any more. I have a disabled child and tbh I might just take the blue badge and ask if the queue is long. But I'm trying to avoid going until I'm desperate.

I'm still thinking it's just less hassle to go in person later at night. If your vulnerable or care for a vulnerable person your pretty stuffed. I just need the stress on top of loosing every single ounce of respite. No contact from.our disability socail worker either.

I'm going to do whatever I can to survive. I'm fit and able and feel guilty as I should be helping others but at the same time I'm a registered carer for a disabled child and got to feed 6 people on 80 items that will be 50% of of stock. It's impossible. Plus the curtain twitching pickford brigade judging anyone that needs to eat.

Its falling apart from.every angle.

MiniMum97 · 29/03/2020 03:01

Yes I placed one. They cancelled my order a couple of hours before it was supposed to be delivered.

londonscalling · 29/03/2020 03:13

My husband and I have five foster children (all vulnerable) and I've got an elderly mother, so I'm feeding eight people (six of us eat adult meals). It's really difficult when the amount of food I can buy is restricted. It means I have to keep going out to shop when I want to stay at home and keep safe!
