Day 15 for me. Another downturn day after feeling perkier yesterday.

No smell or taste since Fri 20th (day7).

I’d say far from being a scaremongering thread the opposite is true. A lot of people are petrified of getting the virus thinking they’re going to get horrendously ill. People will be reasurred by this.

I am now in day 16 of covid19. I still have no sense of taste or smell but am feeling slightly better every day. Still tired and sleeping a lot.

For me the illness has been grim but also bearable . I have dropped a stone in weight so there are some positives.

tensmum1964 · 30/03/2020 09:52

If my loss of smell and taste is an indication that I have or have had the virus but no other symptoms then I find it very reassuring. I might be clutching at straws but sometimes we need to look for positives at times like this.

isitorisntit · 30/03/2020 11:30

@jeanne I've lost 12lb, too. That's the only positive. It was falling off. And then I ate a wrap. Put a lb on. Gutted.

It's weird, as around 5 weeks ago, I completely lost all sense of smell and taste, had one day of feeling like a cold was coming and the senses lost lasted around 2 weeks along with immense tiredness.
It's only over the weekend that I wonder if it was covid 19 and that I was lucky enough to get it mildly? I have had the pneumonia man and they are saying it could lessen complications.

Jab not man

callmeadoctor · 30/03/2020 12:37

But how many of you know you have it, precisely none of you............... (doctors say so or not)

sleepwhenidie · 31/03/2020 20:38

Posting to bump, I’m 5 days into no taste or smell and it’s miserable. Just to add that I am very aware that some people are suffering a whole lot more but nevertheless...

Littlepond · 31/03/2020 20:42

Day 7 of no smell or taste here. It’s awful. Horrible taste in my mouth all the time and my nose feels old and dusty. No sign of taste or smell returning yet.

sleepwhenidie · 01/04/2020 15:26

oh I wanted someone with positive news @littlepond SadSmile!

What are you missing most? I can't wait to enjoy buttered toast and a glass of wine again! What I find most weird of all is being totally unaware of when cooked food is almost ready, it is amazing how much the smell of food cooking primes your appetite!

Chocqueen99 · 02/04/2020 21:43

Ive lost sense of smell and taste for last week now had a little cold but only sneezing & runny nose nothing major & thats all cleared up now no blocked nose or anything, just no smell or taste very annoying & just hoping it returns .... soon

findingschools4myboys · 02/04/2020 21:45

Lost my smell and taste roughly day 10 post first symptom. Gradually started coming back day 17. Am day 22 and it’s not back to normal but I can taste my food now.

sleepwhenidie · 04/04/2020 10:49

Day 22? ShockConfused

Littlepond · 07/04/2020 15:00

How’s everyone doing? I thought I’d turned a corner yesterday (day 13 of no smell or taste) and I could smell my perfume and hand cream. But today, nothing again. I’m gutted! Two weeks without smell or taste is pants!

Moominmamma33 · 07/04/2020 15:05

It's taken weeks after a mild case, and my sense of smell isn't what it was, but is better. As an aside, did anyone have ridiculous hunger as a symptom?! Just before the other symptoms went, I felt like I had to eat twice as much as usual..

squishedgrapes · 07/04/2020 15:06

Yes, I did a few days ago. Also my eyesight is better and colours look brighter, I had not noticed anything off about my sight.
I feel amazing, really appreciate my health now
Hope everyone is ok

Popfan · 07/04/2020 15:23

Mine took exactly a week to return!

Scbchl · 07/04/2020 15:24

It was last symptom I had took around three weeks to come back fully.

nancy75 · 07/04/2020 15:30

I’m on day 11 of loss of taste & smell, there has been a slight improvement but not much. Ive been feeling unwell for 17 days, the cough is driving me mad today

thecatneuterer · 07/04/2020 15:32

I'm on day 16. I lost sense of smell on day 4. I've been feeling OK (albeit a bit weak) since day 10. My sense of smell is just starting to return but there's still quite a long way to go.

thecatneuterer · 07/04/2020 15:37

@Moominmamma33 yep - me.

Chocqueen99 · 07/04/2020 15:56

Im on day 13 of no smell and taste! Had no other symptoms at all, im confused have i had corona virus or just some other virus? Ive seen soo many posts with people who have just lost smell and taste its so bizarre!!

Chocqueen99 · 07/04/2020 15:58

Jason manford posted he had his taste and smell back on Facebook & there was about 400 comments of people who had all lost them! Some had other symptom & had been ill but a lot just had this

Frankiethree · 07/04/2020 16:01

I've started to get it back now on day 21.

sleepwhenidie · 07/04/2020 22:21

It is so weird. And no fun (but of course as symptoms go there are much worse). I am now on day 12 and have smelt a few things for the first time today - burnt toast and a tantalising, brief whiff of ginger and garlic frying. Apart from that, nothing!
