@longshot started a new thread as the other filled up and I thought you were poorly and people would be wanting to find out how you were doing.

OP posts:
ofwarren · 28/03/2020 23:03

I know what you mean @MammyZ
It's infuriating on the rest of the boards with people saying that we don't know it's coronavirus because we haven't been tested...
They have absolutely no idea what this feels like.
It is nothing like any other illness I have had, and I had swab diagnosed flu with pneumonia last year.

It's so distinctive and we all seem to have the same symptoms.

DandyPenguin · 28/03/2020 23:03

I’ve read in a few studies that it’s as 75% accurate MammyZ. Which is slightly worrying isn’t it?!

TheDrsWife46 · 28/03/2020 23:04

I read a thing about reaching out on social media etc. I was so scared of looking like an attention seeking knobhead. I think we all had those weeks where it was in china and a friend would cough and we’re all jesting “ha ha coronavirus?”

No-one wants to be the one that legitimately says “i think ive got it” like a bloody hyperchondriac.

But today I have messaged people on whatsapp, and my tiny instagram circle. Im not making this up. The chances are that all those people are gonna get it. And i’d rather they knew they could contact me if they EVER feel this level of despair. Because thats what it is now.

Im pretty certain reading this that surely my breathing wont deteriorate now? Day six and only a tight/pressure/burning in my chest.

Its despair that I cannot see an end. That I cannot seek medical help for this element of it. That I dont know how many times im gonna cycle through this shitty feeling.

TheDrsWife46 · 28/03/2020 23:12

@MammyZ my friends husband was poorly about three weeks ago. She was ranting to me that he had man flu and was pissing her off cos he was saying he bet it was coronavirus.

On day 6 he couldnt cope any longer (I know that feeling) and went to out of hours. They said as he hadnt been to china etc it was “just a virus”. Four days later he was phoned from work to say a colleague who had been to italy for half term had tested positive and to isolate. We were testing then so he got an appointment for a “drive through test”’on day 18. It came back negative.

The NHS phoned him since to say that they made a mistake. That testing at day 18 he wouldnt have shed the virus etc and would have a false positive.

He works in a factory with hundreds of people and my friend, his wife, remained working in a school

ofwarren · 28/03/2020 23:13

DrsWife 111 reckon most people reach day 6 and then start to get better, so it's totally possible.

MammyZ · 28/03/2020 23:15

@DandyPenguin it is a bit worrying but I’m kinda thinking that these “silver-bullet” antibody tests will be available soon too and we’ll all know then..

I don’t want to wish this illness on my husband by any stretch (there’s probably a “man-Coronavirus”) but that’d really be the only way he’d see what it’s really like for me Smile

@TheDrswife I started reading this thread on Tuesday when I was on day 7 and was stressed out at the idea that it was going to potentially carry on for so much longer but I think the support and advice is spot on. The first experience of the chills and heart racing is terrifying but it dies pass. The breathlessness is way more manageable when you relax, and the key is rest and hydration. And time, lots of bloody time.

MammyZ · 28/03/2020 23:17

*does pass not dies pass!

Wacadu · 28/03/2020 23:21

@ScrimpshawTheSecond We do have 111 in Scotland. I used it last night.

TheDrsWife46 · 28/03/2020 23:25

Im genuinely gutted at all this. When the news broke I stayed at home. My husband was put in preparatory home working in advance so I let him do the school run for ten days whilst i did the garden.

I carried on sending the kids to school for normality even though half their classes werent there because parents all pulled their kids out. I tried to the right thing.

The only place ive been is my mums house. The week before mothers day. Preempting lock down. She went to thailand in january got back in feb and although my step dad came down with “flu” she didnt. She said it couldnt have been coronavirus because they were swabbed at the airport in thailand before their flight.

In hindsight that swab surely cant have been accurate can it? Conducted at a boarding gate? Were they accurate then?

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 28/03/2020 23:28

Wacadu for the phone? The website won't accept my postcode and sends me to a different site - I'm just looking for the online symptom checker. Weird. Maybe it's the 'mainland ' crap infecting the NHS!

Pencilplantironingboard · 28/03/2020 23:33

I have just started to feel better after three weeks of being unwell.
Started with a sore throat and swollen glands.
Lethargy and feeling very hot then cold.
Temp only 37.5 on a couple of occasions but that is highish for me.
Then throat got worse and I had a bit of a productive cough.
But then it was like nothing I’ve ever had. This incredible indigestion sensation but lower than I remember from being pregame.
A strange fluttering in my chest and palpitations. My heart rate was up a bit and I was exhausted.
I just felt so rough but because I’ve not had a temp and dry cough I assumed it was just a cold.
This week I feel better apart from a few days of stomach cramps.
I wonder if I’ve had it but I’m not sure because no temp or dry cough.

treedragon · 28/03/2020 23:40

Is anyone here also starting to be affected by hay fever?

TheDrsWife46 · 28/03/2020 23:58

No hayfever for me...yet!!!

Frankly I cant see any light at the end of this at the moment. If hayfever kicks in 😫😫😫

DandyPenguin · 29/03/2020 00:21

I thought my sore eyes and foggy head were hay fever when those symptoms appeared on Day 1. But then I got the dry cough and chest pains and shortness of breath.

I also had swollen glands @Pencilplantironingboard that was one of my first symptoms. It sounds like you've had a mild case of it tbh but I'm not a doctor and haven't been tested myself.

oncemorewithfeeling99 · 29/03/2020 00:38

Hi everyone,
I got a strange tickly feeling in my throat on Tuesday, cold type symptoms but not too major. Then Thursday was hit with severe coughing. Last night (Friday) had terrible fever. Today (day 5) Have spent all day in bed, temperature raised still and very tired and achy. I’m also pretty phlegmy, lots of nose blowing.

What can I expect with symptoms over the next few days?

Moonbaby321 · 29/03/2020 00:43

@Pencilplantironingboard

I haven't had a temp or much of a cough either. Both DH and I came down with a horrendous cold, a bit of coughing and lots of sneezing and a horrible sore throat 9th March which lasted till last Friday and then stopped over the weekend. Light night and day almost. Then Monday diarrhoea started...then breathing problems and burning lungs. Strangely yesterday and today haven't been too bad. I don't really know what day I am on. He doesn't look great but thinks I'm making it up because I don't have a temp or continuous cough.
I'm worried I'm heading for a full on dive now into the chills/fever/coughing that everyone has. When you think it's over it kicks your arse again!

TheDrsWife46 · 29/03/2020 00:55

@Pencilplantironingboard
Ive only had a “fever” of 39 on the first day when when i was sick etc from it.
Since then ive sat at 37.7 pretty much constantly but still get waves of chills/cold sweats etc akin to the initial fever spike. When the GP called he said that was a continual low grade fever and typical of what people were reporting.

Had two more bouts of chills tonight. The last one is easing off after an hour, I curled inna ball on my front with a flannel on the back of my neck and it was more manageable than sitting up. Its the first time i havent fled to the garden for cold air.

Eyelash500 · 29/03/2020 02:23

Hope it's ok to join.

I've been told by an a&e doctor that it's very likely I have CV19.

It's a bit of a long story, but I ended up in a&e earlier this evening for what I thought was a different reason, but I'll start from Day 1 like everyone else.

Day 1...Feeling a bit more tired than usual. Throat not sore, but have that feeling of a tablet being stuck at back of my throat. Strange feeling.

Day 2...Same feeling in throat again.

Day 3...Absolutely shattered all day. Nothing shifting it, not even a nap.

Day 4...Feeling a little breathless just walking around the house. Headache, chills. (No fever). Left lung feels like it's burning. Just a small section of it, just left of centre.

Day 5...Left lung still feels as though it's burning, although it feels as though it's the entire upper half. Gaviscon not shifting it. Breathless when walking around. Early night, 9pm.

Day 6...Wake up this morning to no more burning sensation however left lung feels as though someone is pushing against it Sad feels very heavy and pain is radiating up to left shoulder, neck and jaw. Breathless at rest but very breathless when talking and walking in home.
Call nhs111, long wait and eventually an ambulance is sent out. Examined at home. Pulse 120bpm, found to be cold (hands and feet) and pale, temp 37.8 therefore told to stay at home and take paracetamol. Paramedic said if pain worsens then call 999. Pain radiating up neck worsens and breathless worsens therefore DH calls 999. Taken to a&e. Bloods, ecg and chest X-ray rule out cardiac. Told "most certainly Coronavirus".

Was told the pain in left chest is actually in left lung, which is causing breathless. Apparently the pain was causing me to completely tense up, causing muscular pain in shoulder, neck and jaw. Wasn't tested as I wasn't admitted, therefore not a risk
to other patients which is fair enough. But everyone coming behind my curtain was wearing a mask, and when I left they had me continue to wear my mask and cleared the entire corridor for me. Told a woman to "get back" when she was approaching the door I was about to exit. Told me only to take my mask off when I got home. (DH picked me up from a&e as he wasn't allowed to come with me).

Been back from a&e for 3 hours and still have pressure type pain in left lung, breathlessness and secondary muscular pain up left side. We'll see what tomorrow brings!

(Sorry this is long Grin)

Eyelash500 · 29/03/2020 02:27

Oh and just to add... on Monday my colleagues husband was admitted to hospital, confirmed CV19 and is unfortunately being intubated Sad apparently he'd had a temperature and had been sweating through pyjamas and bedsheets for days before...and she continued coming to work Sad

TheDrsWife46 · 29/03/2020 02:44

Welcome Eyelash.
I am on day six like you and today was my lowest point where I called 111 and then a GP. Im very frightened and im experiencing lots of chills/fevers/cold sweats but cant get warm. My lungs are burning right into my throat.

Please do keep posting for reassurance and sharing your own timeline. Did you feel comforted when you saw paramedics/doctors? I think the way we cannot seek medical support its whats scaring us all.

TheDrsWife46 · 29/03/2020 03:03

Its quieter here tonight. Is anyone there?

Im managing not to panic but i can barely stand up now. Very lonely and scared at this time

Earlgreyandcake · 29/03/2020 03:24

I'm here. Have u rang 111?

EMichel102 · 29/03/2020 03:28

I’ve had more chest tightness/ breathing struggles tonight to the point where body won’t let me sleep. Do I wait it out a few nights and hope it gets better or At what point do you phone for help? I’m not sure what they will do unless I’m gasping for air?

Earlgreyandcake · 29/03/2020 03:35

Ring 111 for advice maybe

DandyPenguin · 29/03/2020 04:10

I'm here. I can't sleep. This thing has turned me nocturnal.
