Obviously I’m following the guidelines but was wondering if there is anyway of them knowing who isn’t?

OP posts:
BubblyBarbara · 24/03/2020 21:03

No they don’t but if I know the truth and I’m nearby I’ll tell the police officer and I know most other people around here would too

chocolateorangeinhaler · 24/03/2020 21:03

Of course they know. Everyone takes their phone everywhere with them. Most people have location services switched on permanently too for some reason.

morriseysquif · 24/03/2020 21:04

They'll be tracking us all on our phones, look out for the text when you've gone AWOL....

YesIDoLoveCrisps · 24/03/2020 21:07

They have ways of watching us

Do the government know if people have been out more than twice
Newname12 · 24/03/2020 21:07

I expect, if a large number still pay no heed, police will get powers to check gps?

Even if they do get the powers to check gps, most forces won’t have the manpower to utilise it.

In Italy, and I think some other countries, people have to fill in a form, use a mobile app, or make a form themselves
What time they left their home
Why
What time they will return home

The police can stop people and check these papers

I would think the same applies to people in cars. Road checks, cctv etc

S0upertrooper · 24/03/2020 21:10

If you watch Hunted you'll see they have access to your movements via mobile phone.

Dances · 24/03/2020 21:10

Who is 'they?

Dances · 24/03/2020 21:11

Fuck sake, Hunted isn't real

Dances · 24/03/2020 21:14

Do you think the average police force can work out who leaves the house twice a day..? What happens if you ....gasp....leave your phone ....AT HOME?

Off to the Gulag with you.

Plexie · 24/03/2020 21:23

Some of you may mock but it happens in other countries.

Article from BBC News site. Guy returning to Taiwan and in isolation at home for 14 days. His phone ran out of battery and less than an hour later the police were knocking on his door to check his whereabouts.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-52017993

However I'm fairly sure it wouldn't happen here, primarily because we don't have the person power resources for it. Let alone the legal side.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 24/03/2020 21:25

Well we’re taking a walk every day for exercise, to get the kids out of the house and to walk the dog. At some point in the week I will also have to go shopping so that will be two trips in one day.

We are rural though. Went out today, didn’t see a single person.

Dances · 24/03/2020 21:26

Yes it does happen in other countries. Countries that don't have the laws we have.

We are not a Totalitarian State.

Yet.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 24/03/2020 21:27

Had a text message today have we

What on earth are you on about

donquixotedelamancha · 24/03/2020 21:27

Do the government know if people have been out more than twice

Depends. Do you have an amazon echo?

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 24/03/2020 21:31

Definitely

Do the government know if people have been out more than twice
Dances · 24/03/2020 21:35

Much as I loathe these type of devices, Google and Amazon are not yet arms of the British government

The US government is arguable, Snowden et all. But I doubt the 'special relationship' would extend go that.

Hippydoodledoo8 · 24/03/2020 21:35

Laws can be passed quickly in cases like these can’t they? I wouldn’t be so sure stricter measures won’t happen if necessary.

Dances · 24/03/2020 21:37

Well yes, they can. But they haven't. Don't give up before they oppress you.

JonnyPocketRocket · 24/03/2020 21:37

Sadly I don't think they have the manpower to enforce. Hence my mum's mate (both in their 70s) will still be coming round on Thursday as planned. Because "who's going to know??" Angry

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 24/03/2020 21:39

My neighbour is a police officer and she said they are talking about giving them powers to potentially arrest people very soon.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 24/03/2020 21:42

We took the kids out to the park after lunch. It's four doors down from our house. We picked one if the fields within it that had no one there to throw a ball around for each other.

A council van was doing laps at the time and stopped for ages glaring out the window of his van at us.

I suspect there is observation happening more than we know.

MsMeNz · 24/03/2020 21:42

If they are really various just track your phone. if you take it with you it's all recorded your movements that is just nobody tends to look at it unless investigation of a crime normally. Not to tin foil hat it. I just work in that kinda data area. But I guess the Ian is for 75 percent social reduction ATM so I guess that accounts for must do tasks and a few idiots maybe but lock down could go harder if they wanted to.

Saz12 · 24/03/2020 21:50

I have crap phone signal round my way. I love the idea of being tracked... “ooh, she’s completely vanished.... wow, now she’s over there.... WOWZERS this one can TELEPORT!!!!”.
