Do the government know if people have been out more than twice

Obviously I’m following the guidelines but was wondering if there is anyway of them knowing who isn’t?

I don’t think there is officially but I imagine they’re monitoring widely through the police places that are usually popular and busy. I would expect to be questioned by police if I was out.

bigchris · 24/03/2020 20:17

I think only on't he evenings in large groups

I've been in town all day today , walk to work , work, go out at lunchtime, work, walk home , no one questioned me

Oh then I had to go out again to buy bread

bigchris · 24/03/2020 20:18

only if out in the evenings

stoptherideiwanttogetoff · 24/03/2020 20:22

Had a text message today have we?

amandalives · 24/03/2020 20:22

No they don't.

Bubblesbubblesmybubbles · 24/03/2020 20:24

Sadly no, so the asshats who have been out loads and just ignoring the rules are going to mean stricter rules will come in for all of us Angry

BlueGheko · 24/03/2020 20:32

No. I drove across town today to work, did a quick shop for my parents, drove home then ds and I cycled to my parents to drop off their shopping. Didn't see a single policeman and we're in a city. Everyone I saw was observing social distancing were all either parents with kids/alone or in couples. Lots of elderly people out and about though still not listening.

'Course they do. We live in a Totalitarian State. The Police are The Stasi.

I've had a text message. Haven't left the house today at all. So no need to try to make people feel paranoid.

Bagelsandbrie · 24/03/2020 20:38

They won’t have a clue. We live rurally and never see a police person. Of course London etc is going to be different I guess but even if you got stopped how would they know it wasn’t the first time you’d been out that day?!

Disclaimer - we are only going out as per the instructions.

carnivalisover · 24/03/2020 20:41

I expect, if a large number still pay no heed, police will get powers to check gps?

TheThingWithFeathers · 24/03/2020 20:42

They are tracking us through our phones. Leave yours at home when you go on your second walk of the day.

I'm joking of course. They have no way of knowing.

DianaT1969 · 24/03/2020 20:53

In theory they can see groups on CCTV and send a unit to break it up. I would quite like a job on a tannoy shouting at people to disperse 😁

fizzybootlace · 24/03/2020 20:55

Went out for a short walk earlier and about 5 mins after leaving home I got the text!! I actually had a 2 second panic that perhaps we ARE all being tracked Confused Wink

cologne4711 · 24/03/2020 20:56

The police won't know but the neighbours will, and they know how to call 101.

ChipotleBlessing · 24/03/2020 20:57

Theoretically they could track mobile phones, as other countries have done. Supposedly they don’t and can’t, but last week they couldn’t mass text us all either. They won’t though.

cologne4711 · 24/03/2020 20:57

In other countries they are using mobile phone data, at least to know where gatherings are. And if people are stupid enough to load illicit runs/cycle rides onto Strava, they can find out that way too.

Thekindofwindowsfaceslookinat · 24/03/2020 20:57

You'll have to fight off the dozen or so posters on MN threads today that would be bloody good at that job.

Actually, they wouldn't need a tannoy. Just CAPSLOCK and a sense of frothing, outraged fury. Grin

Dances · 24/03/2020 20:58

Carnival
Honestly, you need to think about this

That would mean everyone would be forced to enable location on their phones. And carry them. And own them. Big tracking devices. Mobile Identity Cards.
If I were forced to be tracked, I would disable my phone.

This way lies Totalitarianism .

We should expect people to be responsible.

We shouldn't expect our Governments to act like the Stasi.

That is really fucking dangerous.

dudsville · 24/03/2020 20:59

What, you mean like trackers, hmmm, what's this behind my ear....???

PertEllaTitsahoy · 24/03/2020 21:00

They expect people to actually take heed of an explicit instruction. Which worked out well before..!

fizzybootlace · 24/03/2020 21:00

DianaT - I've said the same, I've got a car, give me the loud speaker and I'm on it!! Ideally would take my cue from Drive By Abuser by Modern Toss but people might not take too kindly Grin

Clavinova · 24/03/2020 21:01

Take cash with you - don't use a bank card/credit card.

Mamamia456 · 24/03/2020 21:01

When I was out walking today I saw a police car driving very slowly through the estate where I live so I think they are checking, especially in parks where people are more likely to go out in groups.

AnotherMurkyDay · 24/03/2020 21:03

Yes Big Brother is always watching Wink
