Can I drive 5 miles to walk in the woods?

Just that really. We’ve been isolating for over a week and these woods are the only thing that kept us sane. Isolated woods - not many people there. Those we came across were mindful of distance.

With the current lockdown rules, are we allowed to drive there?

Stay at home. How much clearer do you need it to be ?

pocketem · 23/03/2020 22:15

Obviously not

How hard is it to understand "stay at home"

OhioOhioOhio · 23/03/2020 22:15

I wouldn't. Stay at home.

RitaConnors · 23/03/2020 22:15

You can drive to the woods for your once a day daily exercise surely.

SisterSist3r · 23/03/2020 22:15

To be fair it gave no distances re your daily exercise.

Wolfiefan · 23/03/2020 22:15

I’m not driving anywhere. Because then I would need diesel. Or I could break down. Or every other bugger could have the same idea. Stay home.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 23/03/2020 22:15

I want to do the same thing. If I walk my kids along the street there’s far more scope for germs and meeting people than getting in the car and going somewhere 5 miles away that’s deserted.

SisterSist3r · 23/03/2020 22:16

And actually if it is less populated it’s safer.

Iamanaubergine · 23/03/2020 22:16

No

LambriniSocialist · 23/03/2020 22:16

Yes, the 'daily exercise' was a bit ambiguous wasn't it?

Rosehip10 · 23/03/2020 22:16

no - non essential journey.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 23/03/2020 22:16

I bet there will be cyclists interpreting the once a day rule as “cycle for 50 miles”.

AnyFucker · 23/03/2020 22:17

Evrry fucker that went to the countryside this weekend thought it was "safer" to be outdoors

Holdmenow · 23/03/2020 22:17

Who owns the woods OP are they public or private?? I would maybe make sure you know that before you go into them. I say that as someone who owns a wooded area and is fed up of kicking ppl off my land tbh.

Scrowy · 23/03/2020 22:17

No.

Hotcuppatea · 23/03/2020 22:17

Yes.

BeardedMum · 23/03/2020 22:18

I will. I want to walk in the woods and I will drive to get there.

Goatymcgoaty · 23/03/2020 22:18

No

BMW6 · 23/03/2020 22:18

Non essential journey surely?

Flaxmeadow · 23/03/2020 22:18

No it is not an essential journey

BrigidSt · 23/03/2020 22:19

Stay at home

somegoodnewsforonce · 23/03/2020 22:19

I bet there will be cyclists interpreting the once a day rule as “cycle for 50 miles”.

Struggling to see what would be wrong with that? Assuming they're not on a crowded canal path.

R2221 · 23/03/2020 22:19

I’m absolutely not taking my kids for a walk in the town. Too many people and it’s very hard to keep hold of my monster twins. Woodlands are fresher, greener and very isolated. We won’t be going every day though. Say 3-4 times a week. On those days, that’ll be our only exercise/going out.

rumandbiscuits · 23/03/2020 22:19

You're allowed exercise though. I would say it's fine to drive to a woods and go for a walk!

Peapod29 · 23/03/2020 22:20

Yes, surely it would come under your daily exercise. We have been doing this and we don’t see another soul. Far less likely to contact others than walking round your estate/village/town.
