I've got a female dog and she's due her first season soon and need to get him done ASAP 😩

My vet has cancelled all routine stuff and is only dealing with emergencies. I suggest you ring them. Mine is a big concern/vet hospital, but they have got so many people off self isolating they are running on a skeleton staff. My dog was due routine vacs, but they are postponed. They have send the flea treatment and wormer by post, so that's something.

2010Aussie · 23/03/2020 21:25

It's a pity they didn't give Boris the snip first.

AccidentsAhoy · 23/03/2020 21:26

I rang today and they said it was going ahead but obviously habent spoken to them since latest announcement.

You leave your house once a day for exercise or to buy essential items.

Your dog's castration isn't essential.

Any unnecessary social contact will spread a virus that is killing people.

Why is this so hard to understand?

DartmoorChef · 23/03/2020 21:31

I bet the dog is thanking boris 😁

MintySpud · 23/03/2020 21:35

Why is this so hard to understand?

Why is it so hard to answer someone's questioning without all the posturing?

minsmum · 23/03/2020 21:36

My dog is at the kennels, I need to ring them in the morning

SuckingDieselFella · 23/03/2020 21:38

@MintySpud

Do you have any useful point to make?

AccidentsAhoy · 23/03/2020 21:40

Well it is essential to my dog. It's essential medical procedure. I don't want my dogs fighting. Or getting pregnant at 6 months which will result in several vet visits for termination of the pups and I will still have to get him neutered.

It's hard to understand because it's vague. Don't be rude.

ShowYourself · 23/03/2020 21:41

No

Veronicat · 23/03/2020 21:41

The vets I work at are still doing neutering until DEFRA says we cant. Its preventative treatment.

Veronicat · 23/03/2020 21:43

Sorry. We are a farm vets aswell. I meant RCVS and BVA. Defra is a whole other load of headache.

GloGirl · 23/03/2020 21:46

I would say that a neutering is going to save you a lot of future vet trips so I would go ahead.

Angryrant55 · 23/03/2020 21:47

The sun says Vets are exempt from closing so it's implying its up to a vet to cancel non emergency treatment.

SuckingDieselFella · 23/03/2020 21:47

"Well it is essential to my dog."

What a spoilt and selfish country we have become.

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 23/03/2020 21:48

My dog is booked in for 3 ops this year - all at 2/3 monthly intervals. If she doesn’t have the next one it means we have to start the process from the beginning - hardly fair on her or us. At £2500 per surgery. I’ve asked for clarification at the beginning of last week but not heard.

Slurpy · 23/03/2020 21:49

We're going to be removing the stitches from our cat's ear ourselves tomorrow Shock

AccidentsAhoy · 23/03/2020 21:51

How is it selfish to ensure my puppy doesn't have to go through pregnancy at a young age?

How could I have possibly predicted this would happen when I got her?

Wetcarparkrain · 23/03/2020 21:52

In fairness I as a non pet owner can see that the OP is trying to be a responsible owner and stave off a lot of future stress for her animals.

PotholeParadise · 23/03/2020 21:57

What a spoilt and selfish country we have become.

You're throwing adjectives around in lieu of an actual argument.

PhilCornwall1 · 23/03/2020 22:03

I bet he's hoping it's cancelled! Smile

DartmoorChef · 23/03/2020 22:04

You will just have to make sure the dogs are kept apart.
