These weren’t included in Boris’s list but are things affecting me currently:

Car due for mot Friday (need to wait til then for pay day). Need it to get to my essential job.

Hermes/other courier deliveries - I’ve sent loads of stuff this weekend that I sold on EBay. Non essential. Old baby toys. They’re waiting to be delivered to my buyers. Will they still be delivered or should I start refunding?

@1ForAllnAllFor1 you'll probably only be able to have a temp filling. Dentists can't use aerosols at the moment which prevents treatment.

ShowYourself · 23/03/2020 22:01

It’s not a “boring life“ if you only walk your dog once a day AT THE MOMENT. It can still be a long walk. It’s a short period of time. Fido will be fine. My dog will be too.

ButiLoveHim32 · 23/03/2020 22:02

lawabiding you just simply aren't allowed to do that. You just aren't. Once a day. It's not difficult to understand. Open your front door and let her piss on the bloody door step. Use puppy pads and make her do it indoors. Buy a bloody litter try and pretend it's a cat for all I care, but you DO NOT have the right to make up your own rules here. However little of a difference you think it might make.

midgebabe · 23/03/2020 22:02

At this stage I suspect essential means immediate life saving implications ...keeping food supplies running , keeping the power on

Hollyhead · 23/03/2020 22:02

people just need to exercise sensible risk assessment. So - next door neighbour is a bricklayer on a building site with one house, he and his apprentice are the only people on site and it’s very rural - not a risk to continue as long as they follow the rules with regards to no contact with others.

I want paint from DIY store - not sensible to go, order online and hope it arrives.

Need to walk the dog but live in a town where dog walks = seeing others. Sick to the rules to decrease pedestrian traffic

Live very rurally and normally run for exercise at 6am then take kids out for a walk in afternoon, again in a quiet place - not strictly within rules but still a sensible decision and impossible to cause harm to others - probably carry on.

Butterbeeeen · 23/03/2020 22:03

I’m wondering how I’m going to feed my lizard. I can’t get his food from the supermarket and couldn’t buy in bulk cos they would die. A tiny problem in comparison but he is our family pet.

BorsetshireBlueBalls · 23/03/2020 22:05

I also have a dog (spaniel) who sometimes prefers to potter along and sniff everything. But that doesn't prevent me doing star jumps, high knees running on the spot, mountain climbers, burpees while he is mooching about. I can absolutely get my heart rate up while out with him. And if I start running back and forth, he will join in, so we both get plenty of exercise. Adapt, people, it will make the time go along more easily.

Tezli · 23/03/2020 22:05

Hi. What is children have shared care with both parents? Travel to and from the different houses? Increasing the spread
Of infection via the child due to the child being part of two households? Very confusing

SittingAround1 · 23/03/2020 22:06

TheAwakening the notaires are closed in France so no house exchanges.

Jollitwiglet · 23/03/2020 22:06

If you're worried about your dog, have a look at enrichment activities that can be done at home. Plenty of stuff can tire them out mentally which can be just as important as physical exercise.

My dogs favourite is bobbing for frozen veg in a small paddling pool. Well her favourite is pretty much anything that involves food to be fair.

If you don't have a garden then I'm not sure what else you can do but pop out for a quick loo break. but I guess you would just have to find the nearest patch of grass then straight back in if you are to follow the rules

TroysMammy · 23/03/2020 22:07

Pet supplies can stay open.

lyralalala · 23/03/2020 22:07

That’s not a logical interpretation , essential can mean essential to get paid, essential to stop the business going bust essential does not mean only a key worker, it is not a direct correlation.

Of course it's a logical interpretation. He's told us all not to go outside unless it's absolutely essential. Only to go to work if it's "absolutely necessary". It clearly means if the work is necessary.

People need to wise up before they drag us into a situation where we have military on the streets because people were too stupid to realise that having a new kitchen, or walking the dog multiple times a day, or doing 55 other things that makes them somehow exempt is endangering everyone.

flowerycurtain · 23/03/2020 22:08

I've posted this on another thread.

To those saying come out to the country - don't.

There were 33 people on our farm footpath today that I saw (and I was working hard not gazing out the window.). I normally see two or three regulars a day.

Just don't. Follow the bloody rules. It's people like you that will mean an even harder lockdown fucking up our economy for the future.

Travelling too and from work is one of the four reasons you can go out, unless the work can be done from home.

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 23/03/2020 22:09

Those who are concerned about when they will be able to see their children, and how to go about transfers between custody I completely understand and empathise.

I think this is something which needs to be clarified ASAP.

NotEverythingIsBlackandwhite · 23/03/2020 22:09

LadyTiredWinterBottom2
How is that not clear? Its very sad that the cat needs a blood test and the dog likes to be walked 15 times a day but they are going to have to lump it
I think a cat's blood test comes under "a medical need."

Alialialiali · 23/03/2020 22:11

@lyralalala
He's told us all not to go outside unless it's absolutely essential.
Going outside for exercise is not absolutely essential.... is it?

I'm literally half way through a house move. Half my stuff at the old house, half at the new. Had carpet fitters booked and an oven getting delivered Wednesday morning. Removal man booked for Wednesday afternoon. Can't afford rent on two houses. What the hell do I do?

BlusteryShowers · 23/03/2020 22:13

Can my mum care for my son while I go to my 38 weeks antenatal appointment? Is this classed as caring for a vulnerable person? My DH is in the emergency services so cannot do it.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 23/03/2020 22:14

NellyGrace

How many NHS workers should be put at risk to keep my life interesting.

What matters more a nurse having to work to the point of exhaustion treating people who can’t breathe or me having to curtail my day to day activities for a while.

Clue: it’s not a trick question - go for the bleeding obvious answer

lyralalala · 23/03/2020 22:15

@Alialialiali According to people on here it is...

It's likely only viewed as essential because otherwise people simply wouldn't follow it. Once a day is better than endless people breaking the rules multiple times a day.

Tezli · 23/03/2020 22:16

What about shared care children travelling between parents? Is this essential travel? What about the increased risk of infection spreading amongst two homes via the child?

PurpleFlower1983 · 23/03/2020 22:16

I have a parcel to collect from a shop that sells food but that is in the next village over. Is it ok to collect it when I next need milk?!

Delatron · 23/03/2020 22:17

I think people are seeking clarification. He didn’t mention dog walking whereas in other countries they have been more specific.

Nobody is trying to kill thousands of people by walking their dog. I don’t think the shouting and swearing is necessary.

We’re all trying to make sense and talk though the new rules. I’m on another forum and there is equal confusion on there about the exercise/ dog waking thing.
