These weren’t included in Boris’s list but are things affecting me currently:

Car due for mot Friday (need to wait til then for pay day). Need it to get to my essential job.

Hermes/other courier deliveries - I’ve sent loads of stuff this weekend that I sold on EBay. Non essential. Old baby toys. They’re waiting to be delivered to my buyers. Will they still be delivered or should I start refunding?

OP posts:

I have been helping out my 85 year old frail Dad by taking supplies to him, but live about an hours drive away.

His cleaner who lives in the same town has offered to take over delivering the essentials & leaving them on his doorstep / taking his laundry away to wash & iron. She isn't a registered carer and is worried she will be fined. I'm presuming they would let her do the deliveries?

LochJessMonster · 23/03/2020 23:05

@AnotherMurkyDay If it’s not safe to leave them home alone then yes, you would have to take them.

ErrolTheDragon · 23/03/2020 23:05

I can't find it now - something like does allotment count as exercise. I'm not 100%sure whether what was posted is correct (or even if it was correct earlier today and not now).

Eireni · 23/03/2020 23:05

Now I’m wondering if it’s ok to order seeds online for the allotment

PhoneTwattery · 23/03/2020 23:05

This thread is like a town meeting on The Simpsons.

ErrolTheDragon · 23/03/2020 23:06

Sorry, that was in response to stickerqueen.

LochJessMonster · 23/03/2020 23:06

@Uedhkgd You need to decide (very quickly) whose house they are going to be staying at for the next 3 weeks. They cannot go between houses.

e1y1 · 23/03/2020 23:07

B&Q isn't an essential food shop so should be closed

Is essential - no good staying at home if you can't flush your toilet, run your shower, power your home etc.

Hardware stores are still open, what you may find though that non essential sections (home decor etc) are closed off.

ACertainSupermarket · 23/03/2020 23:08

@BreathlessCommotion
Exercise is vital for my mh (and my waistline)
There are literally thousands of ways you can exercise at home and in your garden. Someone I think in Spain did a marathon on their balcony the other day. No excuses.

LochJessMonster · 23/03/2020 23:09

@AnotherMurkyDay
Official guidelines-
“ where the gathering is of a group of people who live together - this means that a parent can, for example, take their children to the shops if there is no option to leave them at home”

DowntonCrabby · 23/03/2020 23:10

If someone can please confirm to my poor deluded DH that 4 hours on the golf course, regardless of being alone counts, that would be great.

It’s feeling like the old “I don’t care if jimmy jumps off a bridge”

FIL has spent the last 3 weeks on his own gold course which isn’t helping.

stoptherideiwanttogetoff · 23/03/2020 23:12

Husband working in London on a building site job with 300+ self employed manual workers.. construction industry cannot work from home but not essential 🤷‍♀️ because they have not been told to stop working by the government they have no choice but to carry on to get paid (nothing in place to support them) friend runs a hotel.. again not told to shut so has had today off staff to cut costs, again can't work from home.. already in 40k debt with no customers.. she can shut her doors but paying her staff at her own cost! It's really not very clear

Eckhart · 23/03/2020 23:12

Someone I think in Spain did a marathon on their balcony the other day Blimey, they must have a big balcony...

SingforAbsolution · 23/03/2020 23:13

Jesus wept! As an NHS frontline worker, how long before you all turn up needing a non existent ITU bed?

FFS, get a grip guys. Do you think this is all just a laugh and you and your family or friends won't catch it? Do you think that the world economy has had billions and billions wiped off it just for fun?

I truly despair of the human race. I really do.

ACertainSupermarket · 23/03/2020 23:13

@posterInappropriatefemale
It IS official, what's wrong with you? The announcement was made at 8.30 pm, can't remember if he said immediately or from tomorrow morning. It was obviously made after shop closing time to stop idiots rushing out.

@UniKittie A bespoke furniture showroom is not essential. You will not be open.

AnotherMurkyDay · 23/03/2020 23:14

My children are small. I don't have a car. I cannot leave them at home. This is the only thing that concerns me. I am happy to try and find alternatives so much as possible but this would likely mean more outings or people helping us which doesn't seem ideal either.

Obviously in an ideal world we'd have a massive stock pile and I'd have a non-abusive helpful husband to go to the supermarket or watch the kids so I could, but I cannot conjure one up out of thin air. Not even an abusive unhelpful man child, nobody. I would rather not go to the supermarket but seems likely that at some time in the next 3 weeks we will need supplies regardless of how economical we try to be with what we have in.

okiedokieme · 23/03/2020 23:15

I need to get gel nail extensions taken off next week at the latest, they actually could damage my nails if half grown out - won't get new ones of course just removal. Men wouldn't consider this

Iwantacookie · 23/03/2020 23:16

What about orthodontists? I've checked the website and it says they are open but I'm not sure if orthodontic work is a medical necessity? In theory it could be delayed but not sure if that would upset the work already done too much.

DowntonCrabby · 23/03/2020 23:16

Building site guy- NOW
B&Q guy- NO
Allotment guy- NO
Hope I was clear about my potential golf course DH- FUCKING NO!!

AnotherMurkyDay · 23/03/2020 23:16

Thank you @LochJessMonster hopefully we might be able to get a click and collect or delivery but if not it's good to know we can if necessary (and essential! Smile)

ACertainSupermarket · 23/03/2020 23:16

@AnotherMurkyDay
Yes I do appreciate it's not easy and you sound sensible!
Have you checked for neighbour groups on facebook that could bring you a click and collect?

DowntonCrabby · 23/03/2020 23:17

Nails- NO

HavenDilemma · 23/03/2020 23:17

@RainMinusBow Yes that will still go ahead. Happy to PM if you'd like any advice. Knowledgable in that area Thanks

DowntonCrabby · 23/03/2020 23:17

Orthodontists- we’d need more info

AnotherMurkyDay · 23/03/2020 23:17

@okiedokieme

You can take them off at home with a long soak in nail polish remover with acetone in it.
