These weren’t included in Boris’s list but are things affecting me currently:

Car due for mot Friday (need to wait til then for pay day). Need it to get to my essential job.

Hermes/other courier deliveries - I’ve sent loads of stuff this weekend that I sold on EBay. Non essential. Old baby toys. They’re waiting to be delivered to my buyers. Will they still be delivered or should I start refunding?

Nowwhatuser say no. For next 3 weeks.
They can facetime.
Three weeks then review.

BigChocFrenzy · 23/03/2020 22:41

Your own garden is fine - all day if you want - but not if it is communal

Eckhart · 23/03/2020 22:41

@Olawisk It's not selfish to live in a flat with a dog if the dog is adequately exercised. Why do you think a dog cares whether it's owner owns the grass it's running about on?

mentalblank · 23/03/2020 22:42

@BorsetshireBlueBalls I would have thought so too, for the same reasons, but then I had the thought that they might also want to rule out the risk of people chatting with their neighbours over the fence etc. But then you could also do that by sticking your head out of the window if you really wanted to...

MustBeThin · 23/03/2020 22:43

So I have 2 dogs due their annual vaccinations (1 due last week and the other in a couple of weeks) will they not be able to have these? 🤔 I believe you can only go 4 weeks before having to start the whole course again, and in the meantime I shouldn't really be walking them once a day if they aren't vaccinated. Obviously if I have to restart the course it's more expense, 3 vets trips and no exercise until they have them?

gillyginger · 23/03/2020 22:43

Allotments in villages?

Inappropriatefemale · 23/03/2020 22:43

We’re not really on lockdown though are we, well not yet, we are being advised to stay in unless it’s absolutely necessary to go out but it’s not yet been made officialHmm...it should be made official soon though because in speaking to some folks today then it’s obvious that some folks just think of it as a joke, very infuriating.

WhatsTheFrequencyKennneth · 23/03/2020 22:44

@RainMinusBow I'm sorry you're going through such a tough time, it must be very difficult under any circumstances nevermind amidst this chaos

ACertainSupermarket · 23/03/2020 22:44

@posterRebellenny
Can self employed cleaners go to work?

Are you nuts? NO.

oliviaskies · 23/03/2020 22:44

Does anyone know if orthodontists are open as essential medical care? DD broke a bracket + her wire, is in extreme pain, and I want to know before I try to call them in the morning.

TowerRingInferno · 23/03/2020 22:45

Vets are still allowed to open, so hopefully vaccinations can still go ahead.

Branster · 23/03/2020 22:46

The reality is that our dogs will have to suck it up like the rest of us.
My dog gets on average 2hours walking time a day, it needs the excercise for its health and to be well balanced. There’s no limit to the number of walks a dog can have so between us in our household our dog could maintain its schedule.

But I need my family and the world they live in to be safe so the dog will get limited walking as per Italian rules because we need to stay at home. We need to look ahead not just limit ourselves with local UK rules.
If there was a similar virus in dogs and the rule was to keep the dog at home, what would people do? I bet they’d keep their own dog at home for as long as it took.

Most for vans and trucks are suspended for 3 months. Cars tbc.
Some Garages are generally closing whilst reserving slots for essential workers.

MustBeThin · 23/03/2020 22:46

Thanks tower I'll give them a ring tomorrow.

Alwayscheerful · 23/03/2020 22:47

MOTS not most!

Olawisk · 23/03/2020 22:47

@Eckhart - of course it is. Don’t talk crap. Having a dog in a flat with no garden to go out whenever it wants is selfish. Justify it however you want to yourself if it makes you feel better. Utterly selfish just like trying to get around the 1 walk a day rule.

When it’s your family that need a ventilator and there are none because of selfish people like you thinking your dog is more important and needs multiple walks a day because you were selfish in the first place and didn’t even have adequate space for your animal I hope your happy and don’t go crying to the nhs about it being unfair.

mateysmum · 23/03/2020 22:48

DigitalGhost Of course that would be allowed under both a medical need -you - and caring for a vulnerable person - your child.

Nobody would think it sensible for you to give birth alone, abandon a child, or take a child into a hospital.

Yes we need to obey the rules, but also to keep calm.

Separately, I walk out of my gate directly onto miles of open countryside. I rarely see anyone and if I do , I give them a wide birth, absolutely zero human contact. Ddog is getting on a bit so probably won't mind just one walk a day, but for those who live rurally, the one walk a day thing is pretty meaningless. If I do take him out more I really, really won't be killing thousands. We have already been avoiding everyone for 2 weeks apart from food shopping. We have to drive nearly 10 miles to do that.

RoseDog · 23/03/2020 22:48

Oliviaskies I got an email from my sons orthodontist practice earlier this evening saying they will only see emergencies if in pain, so do call.

Olawisk · 23/03/2020 22:49

@gillyginger - is your veg plot more important then peoples lives ? Thought not.

Olawisk · 23/03/2020 22:50

@Inappropriatefemale - did you watch the news tonight Confused

BreathlessCommotion · 23/03/2020 22:50

Dogs need walks for mental stimulation too. Our 8 month old will start to nip and get agitated when she is due a walk.

I already have two children at home, one who has ASD and already had 3 huge meltdowns today. I am supposed to work, educate these children, keep them safe, occupy the dog? I can't exercise at home for all those reasons. Walking the dog is not exercise. I need something for my mental health, to be able to switch off.

I believe in the lockdown. I just think some things should be allowed. I don't get anywhere near 2m of another living soul when I take the dog for a walk. I frequently don't even see anyone.

BreathlessCommotion · 23/03/2020 22:52

Also two of my household have asthma and my father has COPD, so I am well aware of the risks.

I have had to visit a supermarket, or usually 3 every day for the last week just to get the essentials. That is more risky than walking my dog.

mateysmum · 23/03/2020 22:52

inappropriate Have you been living under a stone this evening? It most certainly is official.

ErrolTheDragon · 23/03/2020 22:53

Allotments in villages?

There's another thread , sounds like the official advice may be yes - it's food production.

AnotherMurkyDay · 23/03/2020 22:53

Can I take my kids with me to the supermarket (single parent)?
