Did anyone get on it before it crashed?

Wanting to know if I’m a 12 weeker!

Do you have severe asthma? If so, then possibly, if not then no probably not unfortunately.

covetingthepreciousthings · 22/03/2020 19:30

This is from the Gov

Sorry just realised they've updated the Asthma U.K. page since I looked this morning, that's probably going to be more helpful.. hope it's working again soon.

Splodgetastic · 22/03/2020 19:32

It depends what meds you’re on, but unfortunately I didn’t take a screenshot (I just know I’m not - only low dose of steroid inhaler - one puff of 50mcg Qvar twice a day). Can’t remember all the med names, but the dose levels were things like four puffs of 100mcg. I am sure it will be back up soon.

covetingthepreciousthings · 22/03/2020 19:33

Just found this screenshot on twitter

Also point of information I think they said if you are using your blue inhaler more than three times a week you should behave as if you are in the super vulnerable group.

haydnp · 22/03/2020 19:35

Yes, I did. It listed the corticosteroid inhalers that they said meant you had severe asthma, but that it was not fully confirmed. Mine was on it - Sirdupla 250mg. Also on it was Clenil and Seratide, and about 50 others but I cannot recall them with certainty. Was surprised tbh becasue I don't consider my asthma to be that severe, although I use my ventolin more than my GP likes. My peak flow score is always decent.

Splodgetastic · 22/03/2020 19:35

I hope it is back up soon for you. It has the least confusing information out of any health website in my opinion.

Jungfraujoch · 22/03/2020 19:43

I can’t read that screenshot Coveting! My inhaler is Relvar Ellipta one puff a day 92/22 mcg.

Interesting what someone said about using blue inhaler too.

Severe asthma is a diagnosed condition (also known as brittle asthma) so don't panic until you know for certain. My son has diagnosed brittle (severe asthma) he takes 3 inhalers, montelukast, azythromycin long term and 8 steroid tablets a day.

My husbands inhaler is on the list and he can wfh easily but up to now he's not been allowed was told by his line manager that asthma is low risk (he works for the NHS), do you think the letter will help his case?

Splodgetastic · 22/03/2020 19:55

The website certainly covered that @FthisS, but it was also listing those on high dose inhaled steroids as needing to be shielded, based upon the British Thoracic Society recommendations, but it did say to keep checking back as the guidance might be updated. As I mentioned earlier it also went a bit further to recommend shielding for those not on those meds but with poor control (and to speak to doctor about the poor control). I really hope it comes back soon so that people can check for themselves as unfortunately I only really remembered the bits that were relevant to me.

covetingthepreciousthings · 22/03/2020 19:55

@Jungfraujoch sorry I realised after I posted that it couldn't be read clearly! I've just had a look and can't see your inhaler listed on their, it might be because it's a low dose.

I take one of the preventive inhalers on there but only 100mg rather than the 400mg of the at risk dosage.

CatTangle · 22/03/2020 19:56

I'm on the same dosage inhaler as you, OP.

The website says the high risk dosage is 184/22 (one puff a day), so I think we're not included.

covetingthepreciousthings · 22/03/2020 19:59

Does anyone know if it takes into account hospital admissions when you get the letter?

My asthma is mainly OK, but have been hospitalised with my last chest infection the other year and had to have oxygen over night and flagged up sepsis markers.

So even though my asthma is mild, I am very concerned how this would leave me.

Jungfraujoch · 22/03/2020 20:11

@covetingthepreciousthings no problem.

Phew @CatTangle!

Stay safe and well everyone.

Ds is a 12 weeker as a 10 year old on setretide 250, montulkast and azirhormycin (and awaiting more tests)

haydnp · 22/03/2020 20:35

Jungfrau, Relvar ellipta is on it, last item. It says 184/22 one puff once a day.

covetingthepreciousthings · 22/03/2020 20:50

Sorry for missing it on the list!

MindyStClaire · 22/03/2020 21:10

I'm really torn. I'm on flutiform 125 but am pregnant and had a bad run before Christmas and have been doubling it a lot. Was contemplating moving to the 250 (which is on the list) but it seemed less onerous on the health service to just double for now rather than take up an appointment. Was also prescribed the relvar ellipta on the list recently but didn't take it as the side effects list spooked me.

I'm WFH and only going out for walks anyway but I don't know what to do.

H1ghC0r0na · 22/03/2020 22:03

So if you're on the list, reduce social contact and wfh for about twelve weeks?
If you're sick, isolate yourself for seven days unless symptoms don't improve and those that live with you isolate for fourteen.
No further care plan?
You follow the same process as the rest of the country... just you're part of the "at risk" category and therefore you are now reminded (and your employer and family) if you contract it, you could deteriorate quicker than the average healthy Joe?
What about putting a system in place that provides some sort of "rescue" pack or you're sent a prescription for steroids that you have to present to a pharmacist if you have symptoms A, B, C?
Or reassurance that they are no shortages of, for example: prednisone etc and more stocks are being brought into pharmacist daily.

tattychicken · 22/03/2020 22:10

No, if you're on the list you don't leave your house/garden for 12 weeks. Food and meds delivered to door.

MindyStClaire · 22/03/2020 22:10

Deliveries of both food and medication were announced for people in the severe risk category in the press conference today.

If you're on that list, don't leave the house for even a walk, don't share a bed, minimise sharing facilities in the house. For at least 12 weeks. It's pretty intimidating tbh.

SheilaTakeABow · 22/03/2020 22:14

I'm on the list - Fostair - but I've never yet heard my asthma described as severe. I have a review once a year, never been in hospital or had an attack.
Like so many I'm just so scared about the practicalities of 'shielding', DS is too little to look after himself and DH needs to work...
