This is why they are isolating those pockets of vulnerable people, but leaving everything else running pretty much as is.

Fuckers are going to kill hundreds of thousands of us.

all live with their grannies

It did cross my mind that the critical surge of coronavirus patients at Northwick Park Hospital in Harrow was due to the fact that Asian communities tend to have grandparents living with them.

I'm glad things are running as normal. My sister and I can go back to our jobs in the hospitality industry, I dont have to worry about being a single parent with a mortgage to pay with currently no and then lower income, and I can get some fucking toilet roll.

FFS forget CV19, I am more worried about catching Stupid.

Boris just can't take hard decisions. He wants to be seen as everyone's friend.
He is like the parent who tries to be a friend with his kids laughing and joking and lying to them to make himself look better to them. And then when they actually need to step up and parent they end up being so wishy washy and ineffectual that they make things worse.

I did not rate Boris beforehand as it was clear he had no moral compass and was lazy. But i actually had not realised that he was at heart a coward. And I do think history will judge him harshly.

His head nearly dropped off when one of the reporters mentioned, Police Enforcement. I was almost expecting a speech from the Enlightenment about Liberte!

CrystalAlligator- I agree with you. I think there will be a decline in birth rates for the foreseeable future - who would want to bring a baby into the current shit storm? I think people may be extra careful regarding contraception, plus there will be less one night stands going on and drunken nights out leading to whoops babies.

I wish there were betting sites offering odds on this so I could make money by betting AGAINST a COVID19 baby boom. Of course there won't be one.

  1. Disasters don't usually result in baby booms--they usually result in lower birthrates for a while.
  2. The post WW2 baby boom was a very particular set of circumstances with little in common with present situ
  3. The birthrate has fallen pretty steadily since 2010--ie, as soon as the consequences of the 2008-2009 financial crisis started to make themselves felt in the real world
  4. Drum beat of miserable news
  5. Fantastic levels of job/financial insecurity
  6. Worries about contracting the virus during pregnancy
  7. Worries about lack of pregnancy care and birth care
  8. Worries about shortages of nappies and formula
  9. Lack of help from grandparents
10. Deaths and illnesses in familes adding to the stress levels 11. Huge stress caused by trying to homeschool and WFH at the same time (for those who are already parents). Those who are not parents will hear about this and be put off 12. Increased cleaning and domestic workload due to people hanging around inside all day needing 3 meals cooked, constant mess having to be cleared up etc.
