See what happens when you acknowledge trolls? They come back

Do we even know the scale of this problem? Surely PAH don't solely employ people with children! Can't they just employ new people who don't have childcare issues if the situation is so dire?

DippyAvocado · 22/03/2020 14:12

A lot of people are key workers so many that schools might as well be open to all.

Not everyone on the key worker list is getting their kids a place as that would be unworkable. The government basically published such a vague list that schools have had to prioritise for themselves. This way, people (like Pets at Home) can grumble and moan at schools instead of the government.

This is not about you and/or your cat. It's about the general principle behind the definition of key workers and a company who is blatantly attempting to exploit the situation for their own profit/benefit.

Listen to the General Secretary of the NHAT taking about the problems schools will be facing this week:

Why don't we just leave 'Pets at Home' to sort it out for themselves.

Because they clearly cant without causing more risk to their employees, their employees kids, teachers and the general public.

It is an interesting moral issue - are humans more important than other animals? Indeed does the virus have as much right to life as humans

No animals are being kept alive at the expense of humans. Pets do not need killings since the vast majority (probably all) will not impact an humans ability to survive the virus.

Sounds like a piss take from POH. I work for a company where we could all potentially fall within one of the key worker classes - they have emailed us all to say that we should not avail of this, they will make a shortlist of people who need to use the key worker school places and only they should do so if they have no one else at home to look after the kids, which seems a sensible approach to me rather than undermining all the social distancing measures and taking up places from people who are blindingly obviously the real key workers.

The thing is where do you draw the line? Lots of jobs could be considered as essential

Disneylover4321 · 13/05/2020 13:16

I did email them.

Disneylover4321 · 13/05/2020 17:34

No where in that letter do they threaten to take legal action.
