Have been on MN for 20 mins today and already seen threads from someone thinking about sending their son to nursery when he had a fever and someone else sending a child to the shop from a family with coughs and fevers ......

When will people wake up to how bad this is and how much worse it's going to get.

We r in the social distancing category and pretty much going no where. But if You can't trust the people around you in the chemist/ corner shop once a week to be following the rules then there no hope

I'm so angry right now - pretty much going to do 14 days self isolation now because it seems we can't trust other people

Yes. I agree. I think everyone should be self isolating as much as possible. Only going to the supermarket or pharmacy if absolutely essential and then as little as possible. I think the government advice about social distancing is confusing people as they think if they just stand away from people it’s okay.

shuuush · 22/03/2020 08:33

Don't someone I know is defending her child playing outside yesterday " because she still needs a childhood"

Enough4me · 22/03/2020 08:35

I'll post the petition link for a lockdown I found earlier in a moment when I find it. I don't think people will listen as ..."hey it's warm let's all go to the beach, the park, the gym." Angry

Got it, petition.parliament.uk/petitions/301397

Sexnotgender · 22/03/2020 08:38

I got deleted the other day for telling someone to use their common fucking sense as she was asking if it would be ok to send her kid to a soft play party.

Enough4me · 22/03/2020 08:41

Sexnotgender that is not fair as your opinion was logical. There are still threads about not scaremongering which completely miss the point. We should be scared and we can still be proactive to not spread this.

Sexnotgender · 22/03/2020 08:46

Logic seems to be in short supply round these parts sometimes unfortunately.

SapphireSalute · 22/03/2020 08:48

I’m sat in car park about to go into work. Already I’ve seen people walking in pairs..... no point getting emotional about it if the shops are still open and every day has been like a bank holiday weekends takings in the till!!!

My customers do not respect even a metres distance!

Close the shops!

Bagelsandbrie · 22/03/2020 08:49

I get fed up with people telling others not to scaremonger. We SHOULD all be fucking scared!!

It's OK in the garden surely? I wouldn't let children go to the park and mix with others but fresh air in a safe place is good for everyone.

Must be very difficult for those living in flats with no balcony.

LaurieFairyCake · 22/03/2020 08:51

It's fine to walk in pairs if you're from the same household

Eireni · 22/03/2020 08:52

Mind blowing that we’re petitioning our government to do this.

Namechanger0800 · 22/03/2020 08:52

Beginning to think I can't trust anyone in my own community to be doing the right thing

It seems we can't assume other people in the supermarket or food shops are doing what they should be

have said this on another thread, when this started in China I was glad that I did not live in a democracy. Lockdown was quick, tough and saved lives. Rules were not open to individual interpretation.
Several people commented that I was a moron. When I look at the way some people are behaving now I can see who the real morons are...

Her child should play outside. Nobody is suggesting children should have 12 weeks indoors. It's advised they go outside and exercise, but don't congregate in groups. Or is there a back story where the child was outside playing ring a ring a roses and touching play equipment?

balonzz · 22/03/2020 08:58

@Enough4me thank you for posting the link to the petition

Ironytheoppositeofwrinkly · 22/03/2020 08:58

Can I ask what's wrong with our kids playing outside? I have one son who has been playing out in our back garden (alone) for most of the day, every day. I wasn't aware this was a problem :(

kingis · 22/03/2020 09:00

My friend developed fever and cough on Thursday and is now better. She is planning to go for a walk before her head "cracks up". Also nobody is going to tell her that she needs to stay in...

EricaNernie · 22/03/2020 09:00

gosh Ring a ring a roses is quite apt now isnt it!

in germany they shut the playgrounds.
they should do this here

ShanghaiDiva · 22/03/2020 09:01

Playing in the garden with household members is fine.
Groups of kids from various household playing together not fine,

Sexnotgender · 22/03/2020 09:01

It’s been like, 4 days. Why are some people unable to manage to behave.

MindyStClaire · 22/03/2020 09:02

There is not nothing wrong with children playing outside so long as they're sticking to their own family group. Similarly, nothing wrong with walking or shopping in pairs, again assuming the people live together and neither should be self isolating (rather than social distancing).

pjmask · 22/03/2020 09:03

@ShanghaiDiva children who don't have gardens also need to go outside. They need to be able to exercise and play, and this is fine as long as it is not at the park, or in groups, or around others.

ShowOfHands · 22/03/2020 09:03

I walked in a pair yesterday. Given that we sleep in the same bed, I'm not sure socially distancing in public is going to help!

I'm in Norfolk and all the second homes have filled back up. My friend is right on the coast in a small town which has a disproportionate number of second homes. She tried to take her dogs out for a run in the pinewoods/on the beach yesterday and turned round and went straight home. People tumbling out of their range rovers with blankets and hampers and buckets and fricking spades. They were having a very jolly holiday. She asked one of them what they were doing. Apparently, "life goes on, we need a holiday".

delilahbucket · 22/03/2020 09:06

We were woken at 1am by a group of ten in their 50's-70's having just come from a party at a restaurant next door! I heard all the shouting/laughing/swearing and thought, go on, whose teens are out causing havoc at this time of night. I was gobsmacked when I looked outside and saw them getting into taxis. It was obvious they had been to the restaurant, there was nowhere else they could have come from. Dp thought he saw others leaving earlier and thinks they held a wedding there as it's licenced. I'm lost for words.
