Has anyone had similar symptoms to me, and wondered if it is Covid 19 ? No fever, just very tight chest, feeling dizzy, sore throat? Or is something else doing the rounds?

Well, I guess I'm hoping this was Covid 19 ... but doubting it was that easy.

I am in London, several in my DC peer group have had/are having it.... so lots of opportunities to have contracted it.

I had a very tight, slightly painful chest for 6 days, as if someone was gently tightening a vice around it, felt very tired (not unusual) and rather spacey/dizzy on a couple of days (unusual) and developed a very sore throat alongside. But that was it. Nowt more, no fever. A slightly annoying cough but I have had a mild cold for a couple of weeks, including a cough so it could have been the same one.

I just wonder, as I have not experienced anything like the "tight chest" thing before....

Have others had the same?
Is there another bug going around?
Is it likely to be Covid 19??

There are all the usual bugs still going around, so more likely to be one of those. It would still be prudent to self isolate for recommended time to protect others.

Rosehassometoes · 21/03/2020 21:43

I’m the same.
Slightly tight chest, achey, slight sore throat. Could be any virus I guess.

sunshinesupermum · 21/03/2020 21:44

My other half had similar symptoms to you but lasted fewer days. he's now just more tired than usual. We are self isolating as the painful breathing/tight chest is not something he has experienced before so we think it is Coronavirus although DD2 says we can't know for sure! But then no-one can as we aren't being tested :-(

StormBaby · 21/03/2020 21:46

There's a 37 page thread here somewhere where we all have these exact symptoms

schoolsoutforever · 21/03/2020 21:46

Yes, I had this last week. Lasted about a week. Symptoms exactly as described but didn’t feel that ill apart from the evening a bit. I thought prob just another virus because of there being no cough.

sonjadog · 21/03/2020 21:51

I had similar a week ago. No cough and mild fever one evening. I think it was probably my asthma playing up but I haven’t had chest pains like I did before. So, I am not 100% sure it was astma but also not sure it wasn’t. I dunno really. I feel fine now.

Sindragosan · 21/03/2020 21:54

Stress? Bodies are weird and can react strangely to stress, and a whole pile of people are stressed to the eyeballs.

Chesterfuckingdrorrs · 21/03/2020 21:56

I had this. It felt like I had something stuck in my throat, a really tight chest, tired, dizzy and lethargic and I felt really cold. It lasted around 4/5 days. I doubt it was COVID19 related it just was too simple and I just woke up yesterday feel fine again.
I assume it was just another spring time bug.

Casiocalc · 21/03/2020 21:58

I had exactly the same, it developed around 3 to 4 days after my teenage DD had a heavy but short lived cold. I thought I’d picked up something from her but rather than the usual upper head nose cold it was a tight, wheezy and tickly chest, sore throat and fuzzy head. Also random episodes of feeling cold and a hot, red face now and again.

GrolliffetheDragon · 21/03/2020 21:59

I had a slight high temperature for two days, occasional dry cough and tiredness and occasional wheezing. Wouldn't even consider it was CV except DH has been quite ill with a dry cough, sleeping most of the day, high temperature, and headache for over a week now and I only ever get horrendous chesty, productive coughs.

Without a test though...

SoundofSilence · 21/03/2020 21:59

I have the same. Self isolated just in case. I wish I knew one way or the other so that if it was, I could go out and be of use. DS2 had a fever the day before but only 37.4C. As he was clearly unwell I isolated both of us as a precaution (this was before the guidance change on isolation of family members too).

londonrach · 21/03/2020 22:01

Dh has that that but he always gets it to his chest..no temp rise at all. We unsure but isolated just in case

help1653 · 21/03/2020 22:03

Yes pretty much same here. Cough was bad for one day then sore throat continued for a few days felt a bit shivery, tired - I managed to nap a bit this afternoon despite being allowed to sleep late this morning and a bit dizzy with some aches and pains today (day 5). Who knows what it is? We are self isolating as a precaution although my 8 year old is already struggling with staying at home.

tiredanddangerous · 21/03/2020 22:03

I’m wondering the same. I have a cough and a sore throat, but my cough is chesty not dry, and I’m coughing up phlegm (sorry tmi). Apparently if this was it it would be a dry cough? Most confusing.

help1653 · 21/03/2020 22:04

And yes to tight chest but not like something really heavy on your chest like other people have described, just a bit uncomfortable.

Magissa · 21/03/2020 22:04

I live in W London. Tight chest, headache for a week, sore but not unbearable throat and dizziness. Also my eyes feel weird.
I'm assuming some other viral thing as not CV symptoms.

tiredanddangerous · 21/03/2020 22:05

Oh and my temperature has been completely normal for the 4 days this has been going on.

pearpickingporky84 · 21/03/2020 22:09

It’s impossible to know. Not everyone with Coronavirus has a cough, not everyone has a fever, a dry cough is reported to me more likely but it can cause a productive cough, if in doubt stay at home!

pearpickingporky84 · 21/03/2020 22:12

@tiredanddangerous are you self isolating?
A neighbour’s child was sent home from school with a cough on the same day ours developed a fever, we have been self isolating but they’re not because their child also has a runny nose and ‘Facebook says a runny nose is a sign that it’s not Coronavirus!’Angry

Valkadin · 21/03/2020 22:16

Exactly this, I’m self isolating in a room, not touching anything in kitchen.

dontaskformedicaladviceonmn · 21/03/2020 22:16

Loads of people don’t have a clue if they have it or just another virus but plenty of people comparing symptoms. Fingers crossed that it is just very mild with you but l listened to an ITC consultant saying respiratory problems don’t begin until day 10 - until I heard that I was hopeful what I had was just really mild case.

Aquafresca · 21/03/2020 22:16

Op try to call out of hours gp tomorrow . They do telephone appointment's have a chat. They are telling everyone to self isolate though. IMO better to have a chat with them rather than worrying.

tiredanddangerous · 21/03/2020 22:18

Yes I am @pearpickingporky84. I have a feeling I’m probably doing it for no reason though Confused

loveyouradvice · 21/03/2020 22:20

thanks.... don't want to bother them as Im not ill and self-isolating anyway because daughter is, having been in v close contact... so wouldn't change my behaviour and keen GPs can focus on people more ill.

Yes I had weird eye symptoms too as another poster mentioned

Suspect another bug but not like one Ive had before!

hoxtonbabe · 21/03/2020 22:23

Same here, with regards to feeling a bit dizzy, chest feeling tighter than normal but nothing extreme or I would have worried about if this wasn’t going on. I started feeling like this today so hoping it doesn’t get worse, I’m always tired so I can’t even throw that into the mix 🙄

My son has a bit of a cough today but it’s been in the morning then fine for the rest of the day. I’m not sure what’s going on
