Has anyone had similar symptoms to me, and wondered if it is Covid 19 ? No fever, just very tight chest, feeling dizzy, sore throat? Or is something else doing the rounds?

Well, I guess I'm hoping this was Covid 19 ... but doubting it was that easy.

I am in London, several in my DC peer group have had/are having it.... so lots of opportunities to have contracted it.

I had a very tight, slightly painful chest for 6 days, as if someone was gently tightening a vice around it, felt very tired (not unusual) and rather spacey/dizzy on a couple of days (unusual) and developed a very sore throat alongside. But that was it. Nowt more, no fever. A slightly annoying cough but I have had a mild cold for a couple of weeks, including a cough so it could have been the same one.

I just wonder, as I have not experienced anything like the "tight chest" thing before....

Have others had the same?
Is there another bug going around?
Is it likely to be Covid 19??

We started to isolate on Monday when DS1 has a slight temp and was a bit tired and grumpy, it felt like an overreaction, especially when he woke up the next day with a runny nose but bouncing and full of energy but 24 hours later his brother became unwell, he’s still miserable with temperatures of over 40 and a dry cough, obviously no way to know for sure but I’m very glad we started isolating when his brother showed symptoms!

I have a very mild temp (37.5), feel manky swollen glands, stuffy nose, slightly right chest but mostly just a feeling of wanting to be in bed. I've had it all week. We are self isolating anyway now school is over. But it's kind of pointless in a way to wonder if its covid, you wont get a test so you'd be a bit silly to assume it was and that you'd then be immune, or assume it wasn't and mix with others and pass on what might not be covid but your run of the mill manky winter virus.

Not that you said youd do either of those things I know!

I’ve had this since last Thursday. Just a tight chest, sore throat and very slight cough, maybe twice a day. I kept expecting it to turn into Coronavirus or a cold but it has been 9 days and hasn’t amounted to anything. Chest tightness is easing slightly now. Not sure if it’s a bug or stress setting off my asthma. Although stress doesn’t usually do that to me.

Oh on the first day I felt really dizzy and had stomach cramps as well, don't know if related to virus or are something dodgy

I live in West Yorkshire. I had a vile headache that seemed to be in my eyes for 3/4 days. My chest felt tight for an evening and I had an upset tummy - but no fever and a slight cough for only a few hours. Read up on symptoms and assumed that as I had no fever it wasn’t Covid 19.

Blueblackrose · 21/03/2020 22:30

I've have had on/ off tightness in my chest for a few days ( not continuous) and an intermittent stabbing pain feeling right in the middle at my cheat bone. No other symptoms though - I think it is stress/ anxiety.

My husband’s whole family in Leicester currently have Covid19 . My 82yr FIL is in hospital with confirmed diagnosis for the virus - before we knew he had it , my Husbands brother / sister and her 11 yr old son all travelled up from London last weekend to see their father and give my MIL a break looking after him ( she had been ill all week with a bad cough and temperature too - BIL & SIL spent 2 days with their parents and when they left my husbands eldest brother traveled up & took over to help - Anyways long story short FIL ended up in hospital as his breathing got so bad Monday and after 3 days test came back to confirm it was Covid19 - every memeber of the family who has come into contact with my FIL now all have It - and very quickly too , within 2 days of contact they all came down with the symptoms - this has Just happened this past week - I’ve copied from the family WhatsApp what they’ve said about their symptoms - as the rest of us are concerned And want to know what to expect -( they are all in self isolation at home as advised by the hospital)
They are all very fit and in their late 40’s / early 50’s with no health problems -

BIL- Started with a bit of headache Monday , then fever Tuesday night, I wrapped myself up and cooked it, my strong advice is not to take anything that will reduce that fever. Yesterday I was quite woozy but felt ok. Still getting waves of tiredness, headache and low fever now, only a slight cough and shortness of breath, didn’t do anything again today”

Sis-in-Law - Two days on/ off headache - not too terrible , feel like i can do stuff. - almost euphoric sometimes and I think that’s the danger... I think the virus is affecting my
brain - then flashes of temp and chills - then constricting feeling in chest and slight breathlessness ( obvs a mild cases) then start to feel better - I think it’s important to take it easy still though - also flushed pink cheeks with the temp”

My FIL has the pneumonia and is being tested for that but he is not in ICU . Just in a room in his own with intravenous fluids / antibiotics- any question just ask me - My MIL think s she got it at a funeral she attended on 2nd March - 4 other elderly people who attended funeral are also in hospital with it confirmed as Covid19 !

Stay safe people and STAY AT HOME please for the sake of more vulnerable people in our communities- don’t be selfish

erinsilver · 21/03/2020 23:35

Excuse typos - my FIL IS being treated for his pneumonia ( not tested ) I meant to add there are now 7 members of the family who have for it from my FIL / MIL , my husband is the only one who hasnt been to visit thank god !
