What large corporate companies are not paying their staff?

AmIAWeed · 21/03/2020 17:27

I have seen other threads about specific companies not paying their staff and closing the doors.
I would really like if we can create a list of companies who are paying and who are not.
Nespresso emailed to say stores closing but staff being paid
Home bargains are paying staff to self isolate AND any staff who don't will get 2 weeks pay later in the year
Whose doing good by their people and who isn't?
I want to make sure when all this is over, companies are repaid with my business in the way they treat their staff.

Can someone confirm TK Maxx and Homesense? I read that before they voluntarily closed stores on Friday, they instructed their staff to clear out all food items and donated all items to NHS/local charities. 🥰🥰

@chubbycow they will always do the bare minimum, if they can get away without paying then they will.

Merlin have workers on 0 hour contracts and not paying them

@District26 we had someone go home last week as a family member was displaying symptoms. HR then told them to come back the next day if they felt ok. We have several people that are in the vulnerable category but they can’t take time off as they can’t pay rent on ssp

@chubbycow I'm in the vulnerable category but can't afford to take the time off. I also don't want to send my child to school but as we classed as a key workers.... Sucks. Been there ages as well.

@Nekoness I can confirm that the donations to NHS staff part is true.

High street budget store. Unpaid if need to take time off for childcare or if you choose to self isolate if vulnerable. Only SSP if you display symptoms. Several co workers have said they’ll have to come in with symptoms as they can’t afford to survive on SSP. Sell food and cleaning products so have been declared as critical and refusing to close.

In a slightly vulnerable group and I’m scared of going to work every day.

@ssd I think you and I work for the same company. The silence from the top is deafening and baffling, particularly as the CEO sits in the House of Lords and should be leading by example, i.e. closing the stores and paying his staff Angry

Not sure if it’s been said but Tesco won’t pay you if you live at home with someone over 70 in a high risk group even though the likelihood of transmitting is quite high.

Possible
But not sure who ceo is
I'm pretty new and thought with their reputation they'd be tip top, but god was I wrong.

@District26 I didn’t think we were classed as key workers. I’ve been there far to long too. Horrible place

Like many others I am keeping a keen eye on those companies who treat their staff and clients with humanity in these chalkenging times. Those that don’t will be remembered and will be avoided once we all get through this.

My dd works for Argos and although day workers are given protective gloves and other items to protect health the night (warehouse) workers are not. Although this thread is rightly about companies that are looking after staff financially, this has made me realise that companies may also have different attitudes to staff safety and as a result maybe putting the wider community at risk. I have given dd gloves to use tonight but we only have enough for a few days. They have to use ear pieces with a microphone for communication during the shift and these do not seem to be cleaned between different workers using them which is obviously of concern.

The huge retail company that I work for - the big high street name which has NOT closed its stores yet - expects us shop staff to clean the stores every hour - wipe down the till points, card machines, hand rails etc etc - but has not provided us with masks or gloves. Or proper cleaning equipment for that matter. On Saturday we had to go out and buy cleaning products. Our store is laid out over two floors but we only have water on the top floor (in the staff kitchen / toilets). So if we are cleaning downstairs, we only have access to hand sanitiser afterwards until we can get upstairs to wash our hands, and we have to go through multiple keypad entry points on the way, which obviously require us to touch them, spreading all the germs we have just cleaned off the till points, and so the cycle continues. Insane.

Primark have just announced and said:
"A Primark spokesperson said that any staff affected by store closures would receive full pay for their contracted hours for 14 days."

@MrsSpenserGregson sounds like our big high street chain. Cleaning every hour etc but no safety provision for the staff no hand gel banned from wearing gloves etc. Refusal to close any stores no matter what.

Assume all these companies will be laying staff off so they can take advantage of the 80% or pay thing?

KWIK FIT are not offering anything above SSP to the vulnerable or those who have to self isolate. My friend is in the vulnerable category but won't be able to withdraw from work for financial reasons as the drop is £1000 per month. £94 SSP is just too little for most people

I think I know yours, no word about them closing yet, is it the food that's keeping them open?

Family member works for
Farmfoods and they are apparently not being paid if they have to self-isolate. They are also not doing much to protect employees and the public in terms of distancing etc Angry
